My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at Secrets Akumal and had a fantastic time. This resort has it all. 3 pools with one being a quiet pool for those that just want to relax and lounge by the pool and 2 pools that are closer to the action and have activities during the day. The beach is beautiful and is kept clean. This is a fantastic spot to do some snorkeling to see the sea turtles as well. The food was excellent. We didn't have a bad meal at all while we were there. All the food we had was excellent and there isn't shortage of food options to choose from. The drinks are strong and the drink options are all great. There are plenty of drink options, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We splurged and got a swim out room. However, I'm not sure we would do this again. We didn't use the swim out area as it doesn't connect to any of the pools. It's a nice quiet swim spot if you want to just spend some time in the water by yourself (we didn't see anyone else in the building we were in using the swim out area either), but you won't have any of the services in the swim out that you would have at any of the pools. Overall we loved this resort and had a fantastic honeymoon.

This is truly a 5 star resort, with huge suites (even for our entry-level room), lush tropical surroundings, and great service, particularly at pool areas. I loved seeing iguanas on the way to breakfast every morning. Unfortunately plenty of mosquitoes too, but that goes with the territory! The free bike tour with Rene and Andrea is a must-do. Food was good and, as a vegetarian, I appreciated the inclusion of vegan options on most menus. Unfortunately, at outdoor buffet events, it was harder for me to find something to eat. Overall a beautiful hotel in a stunning location that makes you feel simultaneously close to nature and in the lap of luxury.

This was our third stay at Secrets Akumal and it was just as special as we remember. The hotel itself was perfect, our room was as spacious, clean and delightful as ever. We loved the fact that it felt like before but with noticeable upgrades to ensure it keeps evolving as the years go by. The buffet and restaurants were fantastic and wait times not bad, 20 minutes for most and for some of the more popular (French) you needed to get out a little earlier. We spent the majority of our time by the fun pool (pool 1) and the entertainment team ensured it lived up to its name. It was sad seeing new faces in the team but that was quickly forgotten as they were all fantastic. Huge shoutout to Lil J (Jonas), Jorge, Metz, Carlos, Luis, Gabriel, Kevin, Rene, Dani and Bruno. The bar team at the pool were incredible too, so attentive! A big thanks to Cruz, Osuna, Antonio, Anna, Sharon, Basilio and the main man at the pool bar, Jesus himself! We’ve made a habit of going over my partners birthday and the moment the staff caught wind of it she had special treatment all day, they truly go above and beyond. Billie, our terrific concierge, had our room wonderfully done up for it and Antonio had a pool lounger and cake ready for her. She was even sung happy birthday by the team! The cherry on top was a massage from Carolina on her birthday. “The best massage she has ever had, there’s magic in those hands.” Was the review, safe to say it was well worth it! We’re so thankful to everyone at Secrets Akumal, you’ve given us some memories we’ll never forget and we’re so pleased it’s still operating to the same standards, if not higher, than when it first opened. A very special place to us!

The whole experience is absolutely the best. If you want to enjoy the finer resorts in Mexico, this is where you want to be. So many romantic nooks and hideaways. Beautiful seats around the whole place in beautiful areas. The staff is absolutely top notch and the food, well the food is hands down the best. Bordeaux and the The Market place were my favorite. The staff was warm and welcoming. The resort was pristine. From the first day to the last, it was an experience. We will definitely be back!
