We went to celebrate our anniversary here and had such an amazing time. This is our first time in Mexico together as a couple. Everyone at Secrets Akumal was helpful in every way and went above and beyond to give us a wonderful stay there and a great experience. Our room was fantastic with a beautiful ocean view. Every morning we got room service for breakfast and just sat out and just enjoyed the beauty and ate a delicious breakfast. Everyone from the concierge , chefs ,waiters, housekeeping, the entertainment as well as the spa masseuse were fantastic in every way and made it our stay so memorable. We will definitely go back the food was excellent the rooms were so beautiful the pools were great we loved going to the quiet pool and just being able to relax and rest was amazing. Kudos to all the workers that kept the grounds impeccable as well as those on the beach that were cleaning up the Sargassum seawood daily and keeping it looking great. We definitely want to come back it was amazing and we are so thankful for everyone that made us feel welcome there.

There is literally only 1 word to say about Secrets Akumal and it is ‘WOW’. Myself and my wife stayed during August 2026 for our honeymoon. From the moment our transfer dropped us at the hotel we were greeted by the most polite staff who all were rehearsed in a ‘welcome home’ greeting, however this didn’t feel robotic, it felt like they meant it. We booked to be preferred club members, which I must say it absolutely worth it and we would do it again if and more likely ‘when’ we return. We were taken to the preferred club area, where we were given a complimentary welcome drink and check in was a breeze. Down to the day to day. Being a preferred club member gets you access to the preferred club lounge and seaside grill for breakfast from 8am, breakfast for all other guests is from 7am. It was here where we met the most amazing waiting staff at the hotel! The staff, if you engage with them and talk to them are absolutely outstanding and will do anything for you, such as my man Alberto! He was an absolute highlight of our stay, from knowing what drinks and food you like from day 1 to suggesting food if you’re feeling something a little different, he is an absolute GEM at this hotel. He would come and speak to us if food was taking slightly longer than usual to ease the wait and he was an all round pleasure! Anyway, however if you are up earlier, a short walk to coco’s cafe for a coffee and pastry is what we did, being awake from 5am each morning, shortly followed by a walk to the pool or beach to watch the sun rise. There is no competition for sun beds as most guests rise around 9am and they are still free at the main pool at 10am and all other pools throughout the day. There is always something going on at the main pool, as the events team work around the clock to keep you entertained. Ari, Carlos, Raul, Tony, Sinai, Oscar and the new kid on the block Erick are amazing and completely made your stay worth it on their own! They are so personable, learn your names on day 1 and constantly come to ask you to get involved in activities, they are just absolutely amazing! The poolside staff also wait on you hand and foot to ensure you’re comfortable during the day, Ricardo and Alonso were our personal highlight! Amazing people all round at this hotel! Do not listen to a bad word about this hotel, not one bit of it is true, and México will always hold a special place in our heart because of all of these people! Excellent resort. Our third time visiting. Beach was a bit disappointing due to the excessive sea weed. Staff is fantastic and the food is great. I'm sure we will return again..

This is our 3rd Secrets, 1st in Mexico. Secrets has stood out compared to Excellence and Eldorado Casitas simply because of their outstanding service, cleanliness, and friendliness, and this resort certainly helpheld this standard. We were 'invited' to a 90min vacation investment shpeal that ended up being over 2.5hrs long. In exchange, we were compt a 80min massage and if you need the kinks taken out, ask for Perla and Vianey, they did an amazing job. The surf and turf romantic dinner was the best meal of our entire stay, with wonderful service by Luis and Javier. The lobster tail was surpringly well portioned. Our ocean view preferred suite building 2 was beautiful and Maria always left us with a very clean and stocked room. Our concierge Leidy was the most efficient 'doer' making sure we were well taken care of, glitches were addressed, and reservations and transfers were coordinated. If you need anything, she'll hook you up. Honestly, she made our anniversary all the more special. The pools could use vacuuming though, with sand, debris, and green growth coming out of the bittom filter. The resort is immaculate otherwise. There is no preferred pool and the preferred lounge could use an upgrade. They are not known for their top shelf mixed drinks, but Gabriella and her partner got my martini just right. Maria and Sandra at the Coco Cafe made sure we started the day off with a great latte or afternoon iced coffee. There are plenty of non dairy alternatives to pick from. The natural, luscious vegetation amongst the winding walkways gives you a reprieve from the heat but also disorients you. Like walking a maze, we got lost a few times. The resort itself is a little underwhelming and the food is hit or miss, so sample different dishes. Market cafe for breakfast offers a nice variety, cant go wrong there. The 3 pools never felt crowded, no obnoxious groups or noise, excellent pool side service, and empty by 5pm. All in all, we had a great week. Not sure we will come back since we like to experience other secrets resort, but the service, friendliness, cleanliness are hard to pass up. TBD.

The activities team made the resort so much fun, I didn't want to miss any activities. The service provide by ALL staff was exceptional. The food was phenomenal! I can't wait to go back! The only thing that might be lacking at this resort are the perks by choosing Preferred Club. It doesn't seem like there are enough perks for choosing this level at this particular Secrets...from my point of view, you only receive preferred club beach access, preferred club lounge, and Seaside for breakfast. Our room location might have been better, but I'm not sure. There was no free hydrotherapy session, no extra dinner options for club only, no preferred club pool. The best of the best Activities Team included: Sanai-turtle painting, beach stretching, pool volleyball, Anthony-pool volleyball, Alan-macrame, Oscar-bike ride, AriAri-pool bikes. Others who made our stay so great included Henry -bali bed waiter, Salvador & Abraham--pool waiters, Aron-preferred club, Ivan-Barefoot bar, Emmanuel-Bordeaux waiter, Alejandro-preferred beach concierge, and our Building 5 concierges Monica & Luis. I'd definitely recommend this resort, and I can't wait to return. We used Fernando Cat for transport to and from Tulum Airport (AA), and also for swimming with turtles right off the beach--great service and transport. I would also recommend Victor for swimming with turtles, he was very nice and helpful.
