My wife stayed at Secrets Akumal for 8 days in June 2022. We had a great time: The rm were cleaned daily The people at the lobby were very helpful Everyone spoke English & we tried to lean Spanish. They were pretty excited that we wanted to speak Spanish and would help us out The restaurants were great Nightly shows / entertainment was very good We became a member And certainly recommend this resort

The resort is absolutely beautiful. The food is fantastic. The staff was honestly the best part. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Definitely will return. Thank you everyone that works at the resort. The Entertainment team is great, they always got everyone so involved in the volleyball, and the little events that would happen at the pool every day.

Wedding at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

Our daughter was married here in June. The location was lovely, and the staff very helpful and accommodating, but the lack of organization for the wedding itself created problems. The bride and her bridesmaids were in the bridal suite to get hair and makeup done. They came in their clothes and brought their gowns, etc to change into. There was no designated area for the girls to put their belongings after they changed. We had to summon a boyfriend to get a luggage cart for them to load up and take it up to the nearest room. The same thing occurred as they were assembling to go down the aisle. No place was set aside for purses and such. They were just shoved into a corner. Things ran behind schedule, and it became a race to get everything done. The cocktail 'hour' was cut short and before people even had their drinks and cocktails we were being summoned into dinner. Then, shortly after the dinner started the beginning of the toasts was announced. This proceeded without any champagne being served to toast with. I had boxed and brought down special champagne glasses for the occasion, and they weren't filled. The wedding cake was tiny, and only one tier. The next two days were a hunt for missing items. The grooms rehearsal suit, which was supposed to have been moved from the grooms room to the honeymoon suite never made it. Many phone calls had to be made to locate where it had been left. The garment bag for the wedding gown was also missing, and needed to be located. And finally, the wedding veil was lost. I lost track of the phone calls and text messages trying to find it on the day of departure. We kept getting false information on where to go to get it. Finally, the bride and groom had to leave for the airport. We stayed behind and eventually the veil was brought to us by security from the lost and found! I don't know if it was the wedding coordinator, Deanna, or this is the way it always works, but I think it was totally mismanaged. Considering the price charged I expected a much higher level service. I would never recommend this place as a wedding venue.
Delayed 20th anniversary trip

My wife and I just got back from a great trip to Secrets Akumal and we were so impressed. The staff was very courteous and helpful--very competently bilingual in most cases. We've been to resorts around the Caribbean, but this one was the nicest we've ever been to. Room 3406 looked out over the party pool with a great view of the ocean. We loved Oceana--try the red shrimp ceviche and the sea bass from the grill. Our drink recommendations are the espresso martini at Rendezvous and passion fruit mojito at Sugar Reef. We were also blown away by the great snorkeling in the resort's swimming area--lots of cool coral formations and fish. Special shout outs to Victor at Preferred Club who was very helpful with a couple questions I had and also Jared in Market Cafe who was always quick with the coffee!
