The bed was like sleeping on a rock. The room was nice and chill. Loved the jacuzzi on the deck. Didn’t care for the monk music. Loved having the shower gel, shampoo & conditioner, toothbrush & toothpaste available. Having my own steamer to get wrinkles out and a scale to weigh my suitcases was awesome!! The jacuzzi in my room was a great touch, too. Staff was very respectful of their guests. Will definitely be coming back soon!
Paradise, turtles & sunrise?????

We had an excellent stay, which exceed all our expectations.?? Thank you! Staff have gone above and beyond at all opportunities! Special thanks to Leidy & Gerardo- our concierge, who went above and beyond to help us celebrate our engagement. We really enjoyed the tequila tasting experience and swimming with turtles, which we felt were great value add ons. We further saw turtles in the sea on our final day! Food and drink was great. All restaurants were really helpful and reassuring with our nut allergy, in terms of adapting options and providing information. Room & room service, always clean and attended to our needs. Especially turn down who made our room as requested. Spa & gym were the only areas we would say were not as positive. Some gym equipment was a bit tired and only one bike available but this is personal preference. The spa was great when we went however the daily and multiple times a day sales pitch was annoying, we felt at the beach and pools relaxing to be asked everyday if we wanted spa treatment was too much. But when we said no thanks we were left alone. Few tips from us…. If you’re a light sleeper bring some ear plugs… we could hear some guests who had partied a bit later than us. We brought our sea/rock shoes and snorkels which we used daily, you can hire snorkels though. Get up early and watch the sunrise! We already want to come back to this absolute paradise???
Awesome stay!

From check in to check out, this place was phenomenal. Room - we had preferred club and honestly the one reason we would pay for it again is for the location. We were in building 3 with a swim out. Didn’t really use the swim out but love the ground floor. So close to the 1st and 2nd pools, the market cafe for breakfast. We did access the preferred club a few nights for snacks/desserts. We did a snorkeling tour and saw many turtles. Loved the 1st pool with the activities. Pool servers were awesome. We did the bike tour, played pickle ball twice. Ate at Himitsu, El Patio, Seaside and Bordeaux. All were very good except we didn’t like the regular menu at Himitsu. I had pad Thai and just wasn’t to my liking. Food is highly subjective as we all know! The hibachi was very good though! The shows were fun- The Voice, Beatles tribute. We did the silent disco one night which is always fun. Want to give a shout out to the following staff!! Javier and Oscar with the entertainment team. Bike tour was fabulous and every time we saw them around they were always smiling. Maria (hostess) and Daniel at the Market Cafe treated us so nicely and were always smiling. Ana at the 1st pool was amazing!!! Always coming around and asking if we needed anything. There were so many others that treated us so warmly I wish I could name them all! We will be back!!
Secrets Akumal is a beautiful resort and the people bring the magic

We love the personal touches and how thoughtful, friendly and kind everyone is here. We were here six months ago, and they looked up our room number from our last trip and put us in the same room. It’s the small thoughtful things that make all the difference in the experience here. It’s the ice cream cart and the fruit carts. It’s the way everybody says hello and is genuine when asking how you’re doing and if there’s anything they can do to make your stay enjoyable. It’s not just something they say. If you ask for something they will help you understand where it is or find it for you. They seem to know that this is our little dip in heaven to be able to come share the beauty of their country and they want to make it a sparkling experience. There’s a reason we come here instead of going to the larger chains. We’ve been a little worried that the Hyatt ownership would mean Secrets might lose its magic. People here take a genuine pride in the resort and the experience you receive. We’ve been to so many of your resorts and when they say it’s my pleasure and welcome home, it really does feel real to us. So far it hasn’t lost his magic so we’re going to cross our fingers that while Hyatt may bring benefits to Secrets, it doesn’t dull its personal touch. Thank you to David, Cruz, Octavio, Javier, Karen, Angel, Alejandro, Jesus, Rubin, Alberto, Antonio, Fernando, David, Cruz, Octavio, Javier, David, Cruz, Octavio.

We just returned from an amazing trip with two other couples and celebrated birthdays while we were there. We started our trip at Secrets Maroma and moved to Secrets Akumal. My husband and I have been to both before but it has been some time. Secrets Akumal is by far the most amazing place. I am hard to please and I do not have one single complaint. Maroma isn't what it used to be so we don't have plans to go back there and that's saying a lot because it is also great. The two other couples both have their favorite spots in Mexico one being Valentin Imperial and they agree Akumal is by far the best. The resort is stunning. It's been 7 years since we have been there and the grounds have overgrown with tropical vibes in the best way possible. You find yourself lost in a jungle very fast because you can't see the buildings. it's so pretty! The staff is wonderful. Our building concierge, Karina, was amazing. She decorated our room for my birthday with balloons and streamers and a nice card. She helped us with any questions we had always with a smile. The food was so good. Far better than we expected. The filet at Bordeaux is so good. The poolside options are exquisite. Fernando at Himitsu was an amazing waiter and so friendly. The sushi there is so good. We found the menus at Akumal to be more extensive than Maroma. Especially the room service menu. Sharon at the pool was so great making sure we had drinks each day and was the friendliest gal. We didn't hang by the pool bar except one day walked over there to have a drink. Jorge was the only negative encounter we had all week. There were 8 of us and my friend ordered all the drinks and Jorge told us he could not serve that many drinks to us despite all 8 of us literally standing there. He seemed very angry and possibly people weren't tipping because they were in the pool. I'm not sure what it was but he's the only rude person we talked to all week. The ocean had some seaweed but they work hard to control it. It didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful waters. We brought our own snorkel gear to see the turtles on our own but were unsuccessful due to them not letting you go very far out without having a paid tour. We talked to a couple randoms on the beach who offered us to go with them for $30 pp but we ended up going with the entertainment team at Secrets (shout out to Javier!) and it was $49pp and money well spent. They really work hard to protect the turtles and we understand why it's a protected area and only swimmable out that far with a guide making sure everyone is following the rules. Just a heads up that even if you plan to see them yourself, you may need to book a tour to be able to go out far enough. We saw so many it was amazing. Overall the entertainment team was so fun. I wish i could remember the girls names who did water aerobics with us but that class was so fun and it's a hard workout. I go to F45 every day and i still found that a good option for a workout. The pool basketball was also fun! The karaoke at Desires was a blast. Overall, you can't go wrong with this as your choice. We can't wait to go back!
