grat place to spend vacation

Voyager11581026861 on Jun 11, 2025

first at all my wife and I were more than happy with the choice to spent 2 weeks in beautiful Melia Las Americas. We had a regular room and find it very pleasant to stay and sleep. The entire complex is very impressive ,safe and well organized. We were also surprised that entire loby is air conditioned and very well decorated. The food and the service was excellent to us and we enjoyed time having our nice meals. The the most impressive part is a beach and magnificent water. The Dupont house is a just another juvel to visit and look at .Our tour guide Elsy did an outstanding job presenting the Dupont house in a very professional manner. We will definitely come back to enjoy this great place again Thank you all for making our vacation one of the best in our life . we visited Cuba several times but this vacation will stay in our harts for ever Ilona & Jovan

Great resort

Trip C (Calgary, Canada) on Jun 10, 2025

Clean, nice resort, close to Varadero. We upgraded to The Level, highly recommended as it offers great value. Our accommodation was newly renovated, separate living room, bedroom, large bathroom with rain shower. We found the perks offered for Level guests were worth the extra and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Food's above average for Cuban standards; however, this was due to the upgrade and the ability to visit different restaurants on a daily basis for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beach is clean, very close to the accommodations. I'm hoping they can upgrade their night entertainment, as it's lacking. Other than that, it's a pretty nice place to be.

Cuba

ilusha Z on Jun 09, 2025

the price is very high, the drinks are disgusting, the service is very low, service like in a 2* hotel or lower, lacks brains and responsibility to serve regular guests, In the restaurant, cheese and ham are given out by specially trained people, it is very inconvenient to ask them for food, very boring hotel, nothing to do after ten in the evening, the only advantage is the beach

Best Hotel in Varadero - Almost Perfect But Not Quite

Louis B on Jun 09, 2025

I just got back Saturday from Melia Las Americas in Varadero. I was in the hotel from May 31st to June 7th. First of all, kudos to Air Transat as our flights to and from Varadero were great. I have been to Cuba several times to Jibacoa, Cayo Santa Maria and Varadero and I can honestly say that Melia Las Americas is the best hotel by far that I have stayed at. Although the hotel was built in 1994, Melia Las Americas is not in any way outdated. You walk into a very classy and modern lobby and instantly you get a great view of the ocean. The rooms are great and always clean and everything works in the room. This is not the case for some of the hotels that I have stayed at in the past. Props to Raquel who always kept my room clean. I was impressed that on day one you had 2 clean beach towels available in the room. And everyday without asking your bottled water was replenished. Just a tip - if you get an Ocean View ask for a room in the 300s or 400s series of rooms. The view is much better in that side of the hotel. The 24 hour snack bar was great and they serve the best French Fries. Thanks to Mercy, AMEX and Kiko for serving us. I was impressed with the buffet restaurant. During our stay there were no shortages at all. There was quite the variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We always enjoyed the lunches at the outdoor grill restaurant La Robleza. Thank you to all the servers at the buffet restaurant with special mention to Mercedes and Yoly, and the entire staff at the outdoor grill. We tried the Cuban and Japanese restaurants and both were good. There was no opening in the International and Italian restaurants so I cannot comment. The beach property of Melia Las Americas is amazing, the very best I have seen in Varadero. It is a very short walk from the lobby to the beach. Clear blue water, white powdery sand, no sea weed, no rocks like in other Varadero properties. From the beach you had a nice view of the old Dupont house. Thank you to Elsy for taking us on the tour of the old Dupont House. Take the tour if you have the chance. From the beach you can take a walk to the Varadero Plaza and do some shopping. Melia Varadero is adjacent to this hotel. In my honest opinion I would give 5 stars to the beach area of this hotel. And now for the negative. This is not a party hotel and after the final shows that end at 10:30pm all is quiet. During our stay, all of the entertainment took place in the Terrace. The Cuban show was done in the Lobby. There should be more shows done in the lobby area. The area can hold more guests. There is no theater or stage for the nighttime shows like in other Varadero hotels. The live music was alright and the professional dancers were great. The entertainment team should do more in the evenings to engage the guests before everything shuts down at 10:30pm. And for those who wish to do some salsa and bachata dancing, take a $15USD or $20CAD cab ride to Calle 62 in the city. Also check out the Beatles bar. This is the perfect hotel for golfers since the golf course is adjacent to the hotel. If you want to relax and enjoy quiet time on the beach and in the evenings just chill and listen to music in the Terrace, this is the hotel for you. It's an Adults only hotel and by far the best one I have stayed at. And lastly special mention to Almorena (who is the General Manager). She always makes the rounds in the hotel and is visible. She makes sure the guests are happy and enjoy everything that the hotel has to offer. I will go back again hopefully in the near future.
