Amazing time at the Westin

Came here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. My initial review got removed, but I really want to give a shout out to the staff, especially Sheila who was kind. She gave my daughter a sweet treat and was super warm.
Nice property with opportunities to improve service consistency

I want to begin by noting that a manager reached out to me during my stay to apologize for the issues described below. The outreach felt genuine and thoughtful, and I appreciated her taking the time to acknowledge the concerns in real time. My feedback is shared in the spirit of supporting continued improvement and consistency in the guest experience. I arrived via car service and did not receive assistance with my luggage. At hotels of this caliber, there is often staff available to help with bags or at least take and tag luggage for later delivery, so this stood out. At check-in, I waited in the Bonvoy line while the front desk agent engaged in an extended personal conversation with the guest ahead of me. At the same time, another staff member was speaking with two guests and unintentionally blocked access to the Bonvoy check-in area. Several other team members were nearby, but no one acknowledged the wait. A brief acknowledgment or quicker handoff would have gone a long way. My profile notes a preference for a quiet room on the top floor. Initially, I was assigned a second-floor room. When I asked about this, the interaction felt more abrupt than expected, though the situation was ultimately addressed. The initial room did not fully align with my stated preferences and offered a very limited park view, visible only when standing at the far edge of the window. As I had booked a park-view room, I expected a clearer view or an upgrade if available. After being reassigned to a higher floor, I again transported my luggage myself. I mentioned the lack of baggage assistance at the desk, though no follow-up occurred. When I reached the room, the key did not work due to an incorrect room number being entered. I returned to the lobby with my luggage and waited while staff members passed by or continued conversations. Eventually, the original clerk recognized the error, corrected it, and apologized, which I appreciated. Communication through the hotel’s messaging app was polite but felt somewhat scripted, and several concerns required multiple attempts before being addressed. More proactive follow-through would have improved the overall experience. During my stay, my briefcase broke and I ordered a replacement. Amazon indicated the package was delivered to the hotel, but I was later informed it had been redirected to the UPS Store. When I went there, the store was closed, making it difficult to retrieve an essential work item needed for the following day. Clear advance communication about package-handling policies would help guests plan accordingly. There were also positive interactions worth highlighting. The engineering staff member who assisted me with my damaged bag was kind, prompt, and genuinely helpful. Dwayne in the 8th-floor lounge was consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming, and represents the level of service I expected throughout the property. One small note regarding the lounge: while maintaining order is important, the repeated and very firm focus on the door by William felt more intense than necessary and slightly detracted from the otherwise relaxed atmosphere. A more measured approach would better match the tone of the space. Overall, the property has many strengths, and I appreciated management’s timely and sincere outreach during my stay. With greater consistency in service, clearer communication, and more proactive guest support, the experience could more fully align with the expectations associated with the brand and price point.
Work trip made comfortable

I had a great stay at this hotel during a solo work trip. The location was very convenient, made it easy to walk to the convention center next door. I really appreciated the dining options nearby. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed to work and relax, including a reliable Wi-Fi connection and a quiet business center. The staff were professional and friendly, always helpful and attentive. I especially appreciated the smooth check-in and check-out process, which made my stay stress-free. Overall, the hotel provided a comfortable, efficient, and pleasant experience, and I would definitely stay here again for future work and personal trips.
Mostly Good

This is likely the best hotel close to Disneyland. Staff was exceptional- every person (front desk, concierge, parking valet, housekeeping, waitress, restaurant mgr) was friendly, helpful, warm and seemed genuine. The hotel's public areas are beautiful and our room decor was very nice and stylish. The drawback for me were the mediocre restaurant options. Our grandson and his parents were too tired after running around Disney all day to consider eating anywhere besides the hotel. The rooftop Rise had the best food and a nice ambiance. Tangerine Room was hit and miss. Puesto was seriously bad. The pool area is very attractive and relaxing with plenty of loungers and shade if needed but the pool is very small and shallow- suitable for small groups of kids- not adults.
An incredible stay from the front desk to the rooms!

I wrote this review on Yelp as well but I want to make sure these amazing employees get the recognition they deserve!! If I could give this hotel 10 out of 5 stars, I absolutely would! My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel for my birthday trip, and we had an incredible experience from start to finish. It all began the moment we walked through the doors. Sarah at the front desk was immediately kind, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. She surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, which instantly set the tone for an amazing stay and truly felt like a little bit of Disney magic sprinkled into our trip. Every time we saw Sarah in the lobby afterward, she made a point to ask how we were enjoying our stay and how our room was. She happily answered any questions we had, and when my fiancé and I mentioned we were craving something sweet, she went above and beyond by giving us complimentary chocolates and water bottles, letting us know to reach out if we needed anything else. I honestly could rave about her forever. Both my fiancé and I have hotel experience, so we truly recognize when someone genuinely loves what they do and Sarah absolutely does. Her kindness and authenticity stood out so much that even after our trip, we found ourselves incredibly grateful for how she helped make our stay so special. Our hotel room was beautiful, complete with a balcony and an amazing view of California Adventure, and we were even able to watch the fireworks from the comfort of our pajamas while relaxing in our cozy bed. The room was spotless, and when I called down to request water bottles and toothbrushes with toothpaste, everything was delivered promptly by a kind housekeeper whose name I unfortunately didn't catch. When it was time to leave, Rebecca at the concierge desk was just as wonderful. She helped us check out, asked about our stay, and was genuinely excited to hear about our Disneyland trip and what we enjoyed most. She made sure we had all the information we needed about self-parking and wished us a safe trip back to San Diego. This hotel truly exceeded our expectations, and the exceptional staff made our birthday trip unforgettable. We can't wait to return!
