It was good!

Melissa J (Victoria, Canada) on Nov 24, 2025

We were originally booked in one of the family rooms but it had a massive leak in the bathroom.. my sister and her family were also booked in a family room and the ceiling was dripping water. Luckily we were upgraded to a penthouse suite which was much better for a family anyways... it had a balcony to chill on and a much better view. Not to mention a coffee maker and a private bathroom (things the family room lacked). Only down fall was our toilet was clogged and we needed to ask for a plunger every day.. we did ask for someone to just leave one in the room but they didn't have one I guess. Finally the toilet was officially fixed by a man who brought extra tools (on our last day) but then it made a horrendous sound for about 15 minutes after you flushed it. So loud our daughter woke up scared and asking what was going on! The toilet in my mothers room did the same thing... so Im not sure much can be done as the plumbing is just very old. The hallway also had a massive leak at one point. The staff is amazing though.. everyone is so nice. The restaurants are also amazing! We got into all of them luckily. The staff will help you get in if you are having difficulties. The system to book online is poor.. it would be better to just receive a 2-3 tickets upon arrival that can be used anytime during the stay. When everyone gets online at once it can feel impossible. But what you have to do is click book the instant it saids 9:01am. The buffet food I'm sorry to say wasn't good... it could be a lot better if it didn't have a pre frozen taste. Even a omelette made in front of you had a freezer taste. The fruit had a freezer taste.. There are some wild raccoons that run around at night. My 13 year old niece was walking back to her room and one hissed at her and stole her sandal and started to eat it. Luckily my husband was walking behind her and booted it.. at first the raccoon was not backing down.. which is very scary considering he was holding my 4 year old who started to scream. I ended up hearing it and came out to see my niece crying and my son freaking out. I'm just happy no one was injured. They can be seriously vicious creatures at times. It would be nice if more precautions could be taken to deter them. Traps maybe.. and then they can be released into the wild somewhere... they run in the hallways at night. Altogether there were 11 of us (3 families). About half of us did get sick... so if you think you'll be safe because it's a resort I would still take precautions. Of course we are unsure if it happened at the resort or if it was an excursion that did it.

The rat in the room made it officially the worst resort I've been to

B N on Nov 20, 2025

First, I am a "thrifty" traveler and adjust my expectations accordingly. Also, I have never left a negative review, but this needs to be shared. The good: the beach is nice, with the expected amount of vendors. The location is close to two different malls, Wal-Mart and Sam's Club and two grocery stores, so you can find anything you need/forgot within walking distance. I felt safe leaving the resort to walk around at any time The bartenders are friendly and attentive to adults and kids alike. The bad: the restaurants are impossible to get into - there was not a single opening in any of the specialty restaurants during our stay. The food at the buffet is mediocre, I was able to find something to eat, but I definitely did not enjoy any meals. The service is the same - if a server did happen to come by to take a drink order, they never returned. Most of the time, they never bothered to stop. After the 2nd day I stopped leaving tips on the table because it made no difference in the service and I get cranky if I don't get coffee. The ugly: the first room was bad. It was dirty - clumps of hair in the drain, the sink had streaks of various colors, there was a puddle by the toilet, make up on all the mirrors. The faucet on the sink was barely attached, you had to hold the base down while lifting the handle to use it. Mold in the shower. And, a visit from a rat in the middle of the night (it came in from a hole in the wall behind the toilet). The second room was marginally better, but there was a crack in the wooden door that you could see through from the hallway and the sliding glass door didn't lock. The shower was also moldy and the toilet made a whistling/whining/gurgling/squeaking noise when flushed. After 2 days, I tried to book another resort, but couldn't get a room anywhere I was sure would be better and I wasn't up for another gamble. I'd say save your money, but this resort wasn't the cheapest, so I'll just say pick something else.

Great family resort, frustrating reservation system

bgmwallis (Calgary, Canada) on Nov 17, 2025

All of the staff were absolutely superb Lucia and Imelda at the BEach Bar for certain. There is so much for kids to do as they really do cater to families. The only problem we encountered is their reservation system for the restaurants. There was never availability, even when we knew to try to use the app at 9 am. There are 3 restaurants apart from the buffet which is one of the reasons we chose this resort. We only got to eat at 2 and that was by begging the maitre d' before service as they themselves knew the app was not useful. Even when you could get in the maximum amount of people for your reservation were the amount staying in your room. We travelled with 7 people in 3 rooms and you could just not make it work. The meal at the French, and Japanese restaurant were superb once we pleaded to get in. No luck getting into the Italian one though even though it was 3/4 empty the nights we wanted to go. We still would definitely go back but they MUST fix that system.

Crown Paradise family friendly!

Anna R (Houston, Texas) on Oct 11, 2025

It's always a great experience. We have been booking Crown Paradise for over 15 years in a row, sometime twice a year. Great location close to the airport and mall, family friendly, nice rooms except for the pillows. Pillows need to be replaced urgently. Making it all inclusive is a great value. I would give a 10 for cleanliness. Noise level a 9, but who doesn't love to hear the ocean waves when going to sleep. A 10 for service, our friends Hector, Rubicel, Jesus(bell boy), Maria, Miguel and Eduardo always make us have a great experience, they are almost like family, definetly going back to Crown Paradise to visit them every year. Amenities are great for adults and children. Definitely recommend Crown Paradise!!
