I've had a great first experience in PV at the Golden Crown. The staff (including Tony and Alan) have all been incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is great, as well as the drinks and atmosphere. First time hearing the live band by the pool and loving them!

We had a great time here, the resort is a bit outdated but the weather and view was great!
Money grab from the cruisers

They scammed us!!! We were in the royal Caribbean cruise, made a stop in puerto Vallarta. Our kids and wives ran into a friend who is staying there, she offered the kids two hot dogs and some fries from the pool side. After leaving there for the beach, the security guard, Jimenez, followed the ladies and kids to the beach, asking for money. We were then forced to go to the lobby, and pay about $80 to Martin and Diana at the reception (they started asking for $140, then they agreed on $80). We were threatened not to be allowed to leave unless we pay $80 for the two hot dogs offered by a friend staying there!!! Be careful cruisers, there is a money grab going on there! Stay off of their properties and beaches!
Do NOT Book This Resort - NOT SAFE
Yuliya S on Feb 08, 2026
DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT! Especially, family room, as all the part of the hotel overlooks a busy city street with trucks starting unloading at 7 AM (or even earlier every morning). The rooms in that part of the hotel are very worn out and are the last ones to be taken care of. We were greeted by a giant cockroach, but try to remain positive. Our positivity lasted us two days when we were scammed by the Japanese à la carte restaurant hosts. It was ugly and disgusting. Trying to scam us a bottle of wine is cheap and is below any common sense. Now the rest of the challenges we have faced: - The hotel has a public beach, which means hundreds of vendors who are looking for a new prey to chase. Again, tried to be positive, but when there are three of them simultaneously trying to sell you something, it really gets the most positive and patient guest. When you try to ignore, they touch you to get your attention. So, there is no way you can enjoy the beach peacefully. - Jetskis come to the swimming area that is kind of “fenced” and try to sell their services right there which is NOT SAFE! When you ask them to leave, as there are little kids, they get rude. - The hotel security can do NOTHING about it, as it is a federal property. When we asked what they were going to do about jet ski and if we were injured, they “we can’t guarantee you safety on the beach, as it is not a part of the hotel. If you are hit by jet ski, we will call the police and make a report.” - The pools (especially, the kids pool) are very dirty and worn out. Our daughter will have a scar for the rest of her life after using one of the slides there. - Their booking system for à la carte restaurants does not work, and everything is booked within 1 minute of opening; but then, you walk by those restaurants and they are half empty. - There are lines to the buffet ( have never seen it anywhere else). We saw families with little kids leaving the line for Christmas dinner, and it was sad. The only part that was nice is some of the people there. We are thankful for Alvaro, Rosa, Migail, and Juan in La Palapa buffet (Juan is really trying hard to learn English, and it is very cute). Daniel in the Italian restaurant was very kind and helpful. Our absolute favourite was Aby who saw our frustration and went above and beyond to make us smile and help us enjoy the vacation with her special drinks. We also appreciate Martin’s help with changing our room, even though he was not very nice at first, but figured out that our frustration can cost him quite a lot fairly fast. We were moved to a decent room and had all our restaurants booked thanks to him. All in all, negatives outweigh positives massively; so again, do not waste your money, as you might be very disappointed.
A Time to Relax

We enjoy staying at Crown Paradise Club. You cannot beat the location. Right next to the marina and able to watch the cruise ships. Only a 10 minute ride from the airport. Our room was kept clean and fridge was stocked daily. We enjoyed the buffet and the A La Cartes were excellent!. Staff in all areas are friendly and helpful. We are seniors but really prefer this family resort to it s sister, The Golden.
