The Getaway and Reset I Needed
Stay50167109674 (Ladera Ranch, California) on Jan 08, 2026
This is a gorgeous property that was tended by the maintenance team. The staff made a concerted effort to make sure I was comfortable. I feel like I received good value for what I paid. Because Dreams is a family resort, we are going to hear noise. The room had a wonderful view of the ocean. This made my trip relaxing and memorable.
Just okay

Just okay. This is what we kept saying about food, service and resort in general 'just okay'. We have stayed at several resorts through the years and I feel for what we paid to stay here it should have been much better than 'just okay'. Would we go back or recommend for others to stay here - sorry but no. We are tippers, so this is not reason why service for our family was lacking - it was hit and miss in all areas of resort (our room even missed being cleaned a few times which has never happened to us at any other resort, and we had to ask several times for fridge to be restocked with water, juice etc). Our check in was like checking in at hotel for a night - almost felt like it was a hassle for them to check us in didn't feel special at all and again, we have never experience that - we weren't even instructed on how to find the elevators had to ask them - we were just given keys and then looked at with look of 'what else do you need'. Most evenings music was very loud from the lobby, so if have young children or light sleeper you definitely will want to stay on high floor away from all of the noise if staying at resort. We have stayed at this resort before, and stayed in preferred tower, and do not recall it being loud, however whole resort quite different feel from when we stayed then. It is showing wear, food quality not the same, and neither was the service. Positives though - our family had a lot of fun swimming in the ocean and had a relaxing week together in Puerto Vallarta.
Meh. I’m assuming there are better versions of All-Inclusive to spend your money on

This place was…fine. Watered down drinks, crowded pool area (with pool chairs that were claimed in the morning and then never relinquished). Food was good, not great. The “explorer’s club” was a joke, no staffing, 2 broken air hockey tables and a warped pool table in addition to 3-4 gaming consoles that were always occupied by children that were definitely younger than the age limit. Real highlight was the friendly staff, who always had smiles on their faces
The people are the best!!

We have been here many times and we keep coming back because of the people. The food and the drink are always good. Whether you sit poolside, by the ocean or in a private cabana, we are always comfortable and well taken care of. From the moment we arrive, we are greeted with champaign, a hug and a welcome home from Judith in the lobby. Fernanda, Jose Luis and Brian Suarez from UVC help check us in, show us to our rooms, luggage right behind us. As we pass into the preferred building doors, we are greeted by our butler Mauricio, (he saw us at the Malecon and came over and talked with us for a while, solid young man). Unpack, grab a drink from the mini fridge that is stocked and head to walk the grounds. Almost every employee we see say hi or Buenos Dias or the ones that know us we get a hug from. Welcome home has a true meaning. If we stay on the Secrets side, we also like to hang with our boy Cesar in the Market Café, solid guy. Ate at Carnival, the cook to order buffet breakfast most mornings, Oliver is always greeting us with a smile and is eager to please. Another day we were taken care of by Richard and Roman, couple of fun guys and that worked hard with a smile. Ophelia is making an omelette for my wife and I get some eggs and bacon, then off to the fruit, great way to start a day. Always get a green juice, mimosa, sometimes I might feel froggy and grab a screw driver. Why not!! Also, they were having a Mexican fiesta buffet that was very good and had a cook to order wood fire pizza oven happening, delicious. Alma the manager came up to us a few times and was very helpful. Himitsu, Sandra and Eziquiel helped us that night and had us laughing. Food was good as always, a little sushi, medley of meats in the fried rice, etc. Vanesa (manager) came out and greeted us as well. Thank you all for a great dinner, so fun. Capers is our favorite as the wife and I love Italian food, but most of all Francisco and Eloy. These two make it fun and are always on top of things. Good wine, spirits, laughs…it’s like 5 star when we eat there, with entertainment. Gotta tell ya, this time Chef Miguel prepared some unbelievable dishes for us…flavor of the day was Surf and Turf with Fetticine Alfredo made at the table, he did not disappoint, I could cut my filet with a fork. Everything from the Calamari appetizer, to the special desert with Baileys was legit. Thank you all for a couple of great nights we had with you all. Damn that was good. Pools and entertainment – We do a few things here and there with the entertainment crew. Jimmy is always our guy, just a solid guy that is fun and just likes to laugh with you. Joel and Eliana would always get us going with something fun, only if we wanted to though, no pressure, ever. This time we played Dart soccer, golf in the pool (that was fun), bingo, etc. Good time ….. Pools were well taken care of, we like the upper pool to relax by. Drinks by Jorge, Fernando, Hugo, Alejandro. Manuel, Mario, and several others always make sure we comfortable and well taken care of while we just sit and relax. Also, Joel and David, pool concierge, attentive and always asking if we are good. Thank you guys Special shout out to Nirvana, this young woman will bend over backwards to make sure you are comfortable, having what you need, etc. You will never see her without a smile. Thank you friend, for who you are and what you do to help all people have a great vacation. A neighbor once told me that he can go anywhere in the world and drink and eat, but it’s the people who make it special. This is the case with Vallarta Bay, from beginning to end, we are relaxed, never without and we feel like we are home. Thank you all from my family to you, we appreciate everything you all do to make it special for us. We love you all and see you soon.
Disappointed

We had high hopes for this place but were really disappointed. For what they charge, we expected better. For example: - While the food in speciality restaurants was pretty good, they are only open for dinner. For breakfast and lunch, you have to eat at the poolside cafe or the buffet and the buffet was horrible. Low quality of food, and they were always running out. - Phones in room don't always work - Linens were stained, found hair, found blood - Balcony furniture broken - Fan in toliet too loud - Toliet area is claustrophobic - Dusty/dirty floors, feet and socks got really dirty so floors needed to be mopped, we asked several times before housekeeping actually mopped - With so many things, we had to call repeated times before requests get resolved. - Staff never seemed to understand us or get it right - even the ones who spoke English. For example we asked for 4 hand and face towels, they brought up 6 bath towels. - No coffee pods in room, called 7 times before someone brought them to the room - Elevators take too long, we ended up mostly using stairs from 7th floor - Pool deck very slippery, we slipped several times - Pool chairs were always taken and the stated time limit was not enforced. I even asked one of the workers there about chairs that were being "saved" for over 2 hours by nothing but a sandal, and he did nothing. - Room keys stopped working after a couple days, and a maid let us in. Major security concern. For the price, go else where.
