Definitely a 3 star Mexican experience.

This was an interesting experience and I would definitely not go back to this hotel. Let's begin with the cons: The room shows its age. Broken curtains, broken TV, only one chair in a room for two, intermittent water pressure and temperature depending on time of day. The a la carte restaurant; if you don't make a reservation before 8 am then you will not get in. We were given us a voucher that guaranteed 1 reservation but it would not be honoured by the staff so we were never able to dine in the a la carte restaurant. Thre buffet has very local foods that lacked flavour or seasoning. Although there is a rule that you cannot reserve a lounge chair by the pool for longer then 45 minutes it is not enforced. So if you don't snag one before 9 am then you are out of luck for most of the day as there aren't enough for the guests at the hotel. There just is not enough seating/loungers around the two pools or on the beach. Both of the pools have loud music throughout the day, this is a mixed review item as I wish there could be 1 quiet pool and 1 party pool. Both pools have lots of missing tiles and are really showing their age. The hallways echo every noise made. We awoke every morning to children screaming in the hallways and banging on doors. The pros: the staff are incredibly nice and hard working and attentive. The drinks are great, they will make you anything you want and there are even some top shelf liquors at the bar in the lobby. The baked goods are amazing. The man at the pool side grill is amazing. The pizzas at the pool side are great. I really cannot say enough about how great the staff are. The place is very clean and well maintained as it is. The air conditioning in the room was very good. The location is great to be able to walk to the mall. The beach was great and swimmable. This is a very family oriented place with lots and lots of young kids and is popular with locals. In summary it was just not for me. With everything being so loud all the time and the lack of loungers and the mediocre food it was just not for me.
Never going back

Pay a bit more money and book somewhere else. The people I met while on vacation here all also said they will not be coming back so I know it's not just my experience. There were a couple excellent staff members- Claudio and Carlos. Other than that this resort is bare minimum everything. Most of the staff don't speak any English and you feel unwelcome. No safe in the rooms was ridiculous. My stuff was stolen off a lawn chair at the pool. No security. Front desk can't even communicate simple things like what time or where a show is. There is no amenities such as a hot tub, gym, nightly entertainment ect. Not beach front or easy access. Not much to do on the resort except sit around and eat and drink. Beach is crowded and not very clean at all. Rooms and hotel itself is falling apart and in desperate need of renovation. New years fireworks was amazing but that was all the other resorts doing. Food was good but still doesn't make this worth it.
Save your money

Good place when you’re going broke and use the CC. Going again in three Days I will see what has changed. But they do have a kick ass pool even though you have to cross the street. It’s gonna be a little bit different than your traditional hotel on the beach..
One of the best trips to Mexico I've ever had

First off I have to say this review is going to be long. I came to the resort with my husband and two adult children. We stayed 7 nights and it was fantastic. Victor the front desk supervisor was kind and friendly and when we had an issue with our room he helped us get a new one. He made us feel comfortable and he was a wonderful kind man. Mauricio and Juan both work at the front desk and we're extremely helpful informative and all around just fantastic. We had two dinners at the reservation only restaurant where we met Carlos and Antonio. Talk about welcoming friendly people. We had great food, good conversation and they made us laugh. What a great experience. In the morning we had Raul often as our breakfast waiter, he was so helpful and kind, I don't think we could have been better taken care of anywhere else. In our first room we had Araceli as a house keeper and boy did she make our rooms comfy. In our second room we had Esther and she made sure I had all the coffee I needed and kept our room beautiful. We've been to Mexico multiple times and I have to say this is the best service we've ever had. The food all around was delicious the staff was amazing and the beach is right out the front door. The drinks were flowing and I highly recommend the bloody Marys at the pool bars. These guys know how to make you feel at home. We had massages and pedicures and a facial when we stayed also. If you want an amazing massage ask for Miss Linda or Angelica, Linda also gave me one of the best facials of my life. Everyone at the spa was amazing kind and it was super relaxing and extremely affordable compared to US prices. I only have 2 complaints, the first is the pillows are not my favorite they're not very soft. The second complaint is that I only got to stay a week. We will definitely be back for fishing in November. If you're looking for authentic Mexican hospitality and food this is your place. A super special thank you to Victor and Antonio you guys are amazing. Thank you for a wonderful week The Millers
