Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The buildings are large, concrete, and unattractive, with a very outdated and depressing atmosphere. While the reception looks fairly modern, the rest of the property feels poorly maintained. The rooms are described as renovated, but the design is basic and lacks any charm. The hotel name is misleading, as it is located about 45 km from Tulum. Reaching Tulum by taxi is extremely expensive (around €130 one way), which makes it difficult to explore the area and leaves guests largely confined to the resort. The beachfront location could have been a highlight, but the beach is public and often crowded. The surrounding area is messy and does not match the hotel’s promotional photos. The pool area looks nice, but loud music plays throughout the day, and the surface around the pool is uneven and slippery. Food was the biggest disappointment. The menu is very limited and repetitive, and the overall quality is poor. The à la carte restaurants did not meet expectations, especially the Asian restaurant, where the dishes were simply not enjoyable. One positive aspect was the hotel staff, particularly at the buffet. They were friendly, helpful, and professional despite the overall issues. During my stay, I became seriously ill with stomach problems. Although the hotel arranged a doctor, all costs were my responsibility, and no further support or follow-up was offered. Overall, this hotel does not live up to its advertised standard. There are many better options in Mexico for a similar price. I would not recommend staying here.

We had our 13th visit to the Catalonia Royal Tulum in November. We always upgrade to the privileged section for the restaurant, beach location, the food and the bar. We return for the beautiful beach, excellent service, great food and the wonderful staff. The staff are the best we have ever experienced at a resort. They are always happy, polite and excited to see us. Special shout out to Argel, Alix and Roberto in Beloved, Esther and Luis in Rauxa, Sandy in the steakhouse, Georgina on beach service, Marco, Freddy, Enedino, Fedencio on the bars, Gabriel in Adelita, Anna and Juan at Tao Cat. Alejandro is always so welcoming and makes your dining experience excellent at whatever restaurant he is working at! The Guest Services staff are second to none. Joseph, Daniella and Daniel go above and beyond for all guests. We had a few special requests while we were there and everything was perfect. Highly recommend this fantastic resort and will be returning again and again.

Everything was perfect! The rooms were really good, everything was super clean and tidy. Everyone provided us with everything we needed. The animation team was amazing and always making sure we were having fun - Diego, Paulina, Jaydid, Edi and Eric - you are really the stars of the show thanks for everything. The guys at the bar - Dani and Elias - thanks for everything and for coping with us even when we had a bit too many drinks ??. We will certainly be back!

Our stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum was a truly positive experience, highlighted by a stunning, wide beach with soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. The staff were consistently pleasant, attentive, and genuinely caring, making every interaction feel warm and effortless. À la carte restaurants stood out with tasty, well-presented food and excellent service, offering great variety without long waits. All services—from beach amenities to room service and concierge—were readily available and well organized, adding to the feeling of ease and comfort. Overall, the resort delivers a relaxed yet high-quality experience where great service, good food, and a fantastic beach come together perfectly.
