Relaxed Visit.

The check in went very smoothly had to wait to 3:00 to get room which was on time and according to hotel website. Bell man Reuben the Bell man is wonderful and an asset to the hotel. Brought our bags to the room answered our questions. He always recognized us and called us by name if he sees you. Jose and Victor is always eager to help and seems to remember who you are and most hospitable. You can not go wrong with this team. Jhovan waited on us at the Beloved and was very professional. Manuel at the Steakhouse was very efficient bringing drinks to several tables at once. Made all guests feel important. He Did a wonderful job. Alfonso in guest services contacted us to see if everything was in order. We had a small problem with the room. He said he would look into it. We also asked for some help with reservations at the restaurants he said he could help. We sometimes have challenges with these apps. Well Alfonso gave it more than lip service. He fixed reservations and called maintenance to come check out the room. He later tried to find us on the beach but didn’t so he called. Thank you Alfonso for actually caring . Pamela at the Italian. Was learning but tried very hard. Jose at the buffet is very friendly and remembers us from past visits. The guys at the beach worked very hard to clean up sargassum. I realize the hotel has no control of what natures bring but they work hard to clean it up in a timely manner. The food is average for those wondering I have been here before when it was much better. It seems to go in cycles. But overall it has been to date a relaxing time. Sorry I did not get the name of housekeeping but she had everything in order when we returned. Nice job thank you.

Disappointing...

We stayed at this all-inclusive resort in December 2025. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing overall. The main issue was that the air conditioning in our room did not work for 5 nights of our stay. We reported this multiple times and were repeatedly told it was working or had been fixed, which was not the case. This lack of honesty and resolution significantly affected our comfort. The buffet food was also very basic. It was difficult to find meat options for either lunch or dinner, as the buffet mainly consisted of rice and vegetables throughout our stay. We also had major issues with the à la carte restaurants. We were a group of 9 people, and making reservations at any of the restaurants was nearly impossible. The staff was not very helpful in assisting us with this, and we had to push repeatedly just to secure any reservations. Even then, one reservation we were told was confirmed was never actually made, and we were turned away from the restaurant and not allowed to dine there that evening. To make matters worse, the food in the restaurants was even poorer in quality than the buffet. On a positive note, the beach and pool areas are very nice and well maintained. Unfortunately, by the time we were able to enjoy them, our overall experience had already been negatively impacted by the ongoing issues with the room, dining, and service.

Great dinner at the Japanese restaurant 10/10 with Judith and Socrates Appelitini and shiitake ramen and vegetable tapenyaki were all delicious

Hidden gem of a resort on Maroma Beach!

This was our second visit this year as we fell in love with the resort on our first visit. We booked 16 nights and could honestly double that. Upon arrival we were greeted by Estaban and he welcomed us home and took care of our luggage while we went to check in. Check in with Roberto was quick and easy. We upgraded to privilege for a fee. We booked premium deluxe, which was very clean and updated. Everything worked the way it should. Our maid Cecilia took care of us daily and everything was perfect! She is such a kind, sweet lady! Food - buffet. Never stepped foot in it as our last visit we were happy with all other restaurants. We ate at Bloved for lunch everyday. Could always be seated with little to no wait time. Hostess Janeth would allow us to choose our table. The wait staff is amazing! Quirino, Bernabe, Aldo, Gabriella and Carlos made our dining experience daily extremely memorable. They are the best! Mamma Mia Italian was our favorite dinner option. When we arrived, manager William would greet us by our first names, before we would even check in with our room number. Hostess Diana always sat us at a special table for two. Waitress Claudia, WOW! She is so kind and friendly. She is definitely an amazing person! William introduced us to the head chef Eder as he wanted us to give our feedback. Everything was delicious! Steakville - Manager Eleazor does a fantastic job running the restaurant to make sure everything goes smoothly. Food was really good. Terrace - honestly the menu was questionable but we decided to try it for dinner. To our surprise, it was amazing. Juanita was an excellent waitress. We visited a second time because we enjoyed it so much. Ayami - menu was OK. Hibachi was really good. Adelita - mexican restraunt was decent. Bloved - dinner menu was OK. Beach - This is seriously the best beach ever!! We were able to get a Bali bed daily with mostly shade. Luis offered drink service daily. This guy is a machine, often lugging full drink trays. Talking with him, he is very friendly and knowledgeable. Beach bar service - so many great people, but Ana was our favorite daily. Bars and Service - Very friendly. Antonio, Fidelio and Jack were a few of our favorites! Such amazing service and delicious drinks. Bell boys - these are the ones closest to our hearts, as they are the first staff members we met and they are also the last ones to see us off. Ruben, Juan and Esteban, we would talk to daily and get to know them. Learning their story and their lives, proud to say we have met some amazing friends. Resort - Always clean. Maintenance staff keeps everything working the way it should. Grounds keepers do an amazing job keeping the place lush and beautiful. Maricruz we would find cleaning daily, keeping the place spotless. Pool - never even stuck a toe in it. Seemed to have plenty of activities and it beautifully laid out, but we are beach people. We have stayed at many resorts in the Riviera Maya. This is our second stay at Catalonia Maroma and have decided we will visit every year. The food and staff is what will make us return. Nightly entertainment - the shows in the theater are decent. Entertainment tends to end early and really not much to do after 10pm. The disco is so loud and I never see any more than a few people in it nightly. Maybe turn the disco into a sports bar? Some big screen TV's? Pool tables? Tables to sit and conversate with others? We love this place. We will return.
