This hotel is far from being a 5-star hotel (it doesn’t even meet 4-star standards).

I traveled with my family to spend New Year’s (2025–2026) and paid extra for the “Level” (VIP), expecting comfort and quality. It was absolutely not worth it. Long wait for rooms, poor maintenance, leaking toilet, no hot water for hours, no internet, and phones that never worked. The so-called butler was nonexistent, and the private dining area had very limited food and drink options, often running out. On top of that, mosquitoes were unbearable despite claims of daily fumigation. Very disappointing experience. Not even close to a 5-star hotel.

Quiet fabulous resort

My husband and I just spent 10 days at the Paradisus Princess Del Mar a fabulous resort. It was our first time in Cuba and this resort far exceed our expectations. We stayed on the Royal side in a swim up room. Yes, the rooms are older but we have stayed in way worse here in Canada. We met Yas(our Butler) the first night and she showed us around a bit as it was later when we arrived. She mentioned to come the next day to meet Denis ( our other Butler) as they work opposite shifts. Any issues we had were dealt with to the best of their abilities. If anything that was listed in the Royal Service rooms was missing we just mentioned it to the our Butler and they got it for us. Yes, we did lose hot water on New Years Eve but they got it fixed as soon as they could. It didn't help that the next day was a holiday. The food was so much better than we expected. Everything has so much flavor that we didn't have to add anything. There are condiments available for those that wanted them. We tried all the ala carts and even went to some twice. The buffet had lots to offer for everyone for all meals. Unfortunately, there was no Coke or Pepsi and we were told they haven't has them in a few months. Any fancy drinks can be found at the piano or cigar bar. There is a 24 hour snack bar which was great fore late night snacks. The grounds were well kept. There was some seaweed on the beach and the water was crystal clear. Pool areas were cleaned first thing in the morning and the sitting areas were kept clean also. There were plenty of chairs around the pool and on the beach. It was so nice not to have to play the chair game first thing in the morning. All the staff from the grounds keepers, waitress, bar tenders , Butlers and everyone else in between were the friendliest we have ever come across in all of our travels. This is a very quiet relaxing resort. If you are a party person this is not a resort for you.

Royal Service - I think NOT!!!

No golf cart on resort. The restaurant in Royal Service is buffet & only open for breakfast & lunch - Not an option if you have mobility issues!!! The response I received from my butler was "have a big lunch & we will bring you something from the snack bar for dinner". I repeatedly asked to be able to order from a restaurant (the distance took me 35-45 min to walk due to my mobility issues), I repeatedly asked to speak with the manager & I asked to change rooms - NONE of this happened!! After 5 days I switched hotels

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

5 stars wannabe resort with services of 2 stars, kindly We chose this resort after checking the website - the reality is that the rooms are dirty, with bugs, mouldy, no towels. The food is horrible - for 6 days the only edible things were eggs at breakfast and rice with chicken at lunch and dinner. The alcohol in the drinks was nonexistent. The employees are poorly trained or impertinent. On the other hand the price we paid was more than grossly exagerated!

Not fit for people anymore

Basically this hotel should be closed down completely. It’s not fit to accommodate people anymore. It’s completely falling apart.
