Our WestJet Rewards program is continually evolving, and there is always something new to share. Whether it’s a new feature for a portion of members, or a broader program change applicable to all, you’ll find all the latest program news below.


As of November 16, 2022, our complimentary gate upgrade experience for eligible top-tier members has gone digital.

Updated boarding passes issued in connection to complimentary gate upgrades will now be delivered via email and Apple Wallet – creating a seamless, efficient and more convenient experience when you fly with us. 

With these exciting changes, it’s important to note that gate agents will no longer manage or page you to advise on upgrades.

To find out if you have received a complimentary gate upgrade:

  • Check your inbox approximately 40 minutes before your flight’s estimated departure to see if you’ve received a new seat assignment and boarding pass. 
  • If using Apple Wallet, your boarding pass will be automatically updated with your new seat assignment circled.

 

Although our new system offers greater consistency when you experience this benefit, eligibility for complimentary gate upgrades remains the same.

We are pleased to share a recent booking enhancement to WestJet Vacations that now allows you to redeem WestJet dollars online. 

Redeeming WestJet dollars online is easy; simply sign in to your WestJet Rewards account. 

Once you’ve selected your vacation, redeem as few as 50 WestJet dollars to start saving. Want to save even more? You can redeem as many WestJet dollars as you have, up to the full base price of your selected package.  

In just a few clicks, you can sit back, relax, and look forward to an exciting getaway.

We understand that the travel environment continues to affect our members’ ability to travel. To provide greater certainty and time for our top-tier members, we are making the following changes:

We’re extending Platinum, Gold and Silver status to December 31, 2022.

  • includes all unlimited use benefits such as free checked bags, access to priority services, unlimited lounge access, etc. 
  • change will be reflected in your account by June 4, 2021
  • any unused, one-time use vouchers earned with your tier (i.e. individual lounge and seat selection vouchers) will be extended to December 31, 2022 at the end of this year or, if you meet the qualifying spend requirement normally required to retain your tier for another year (i.e. $3000 for Silver, $5000 for Gold or $8000 for Platinum), a new set of vouchers will be issued for 2022. Members who upgrade to a higher tier will automatically receive the applicable vouchers for that tier, also valid until December 31, 2022.

Don’t forget, as announced on September 4, 2020, the qualifying period for our program has now changed to calendar year. The qualifying periods for members prior to January 1, 2021 were previously extended to December 31, 2021. All members will start a new qualifying year on January 1, 2022 and will need to meet the regular qualifying spend requirements between January 1 and December 31, 2022 to retain top-tier status for 2023.

WestJet Elevation Lounge service update: We’ve heard your feedback and we are making changes. WestJet Elevation Lounge has extended its hours of operation–now open daily from 5 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. MT.

The following lounges are currently closed: 

 

All other partner lounge locations are open and available for you to plan a visit before your next flight. Operating hours vary by location.

     

Starting March 18, 2021, WestJet Rewards Platinum, Gold and Silver members will enjoy top-tier member benefits like preferred seating, complimentary baggage allowance, priority services and lounge access to Delta Sky Club® when flying with Delta. Starting February 10, 2021, WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard primary cardholders can exchange a valid annual World Elite companion voucher for four (4) one-time use lounge access vouchers at WestJet partner lounges. Learn more

Starting February 10, 2021, a milestone award earned at $6,000 or higher can be exchanged for two Gift of Gold vouchers, allowing Platinum and Gold members to gift Gold status and benefits to friends or family members for use on a round-trip flight, even when not travelling with them. Learn more

As of November 6, 2020, you’ll start to see Member Exclusive fares when you sign in and book your flight online. WestJet Rewards members can now sign in to see savings on more seats on most flights in Economy, Premium and Business cabins. All you require for these great savings is full payment of the base fare in WestJet dollars.

WestJet’s flexible change and cancellation policy, introduced in response to COVID-19, is applicable to all fare types, including Member Exclusive fares offered to WestJet Rewards members. These special redemption fares, which require the full payment of the base fare with WestJet dollars, must be changed or cancelled through our Contact Centre at 1-888-WESTJET (1-888-937-8538); they cannot be changed online.
