Starting October 31, 2019, Platinum, Gold and Silver members may be eligible to receive a last-minute upgrade at the boarding gate when seats in the next higher cabin remain open.

  • Gate upgrades from Economy to Premium is an extension of the current benefit which provides upgrades prior to check-in with the purchase of an eligible fare. A second round of upgrades closer to departure provides even more opportunities for a Premium experience.

Didn’t receive an upgrade prior to check-in? You may still be eligible to receive a last-minute upgrade at the boarding gate when seats in a higher cabin remain open. The only action required of you is to have an eligible booking, check in a minimum of 75 minutes prior to departure (either online or at the airport) to ensure your booking is captured on the priority list, and to listen for your name to be called by the Customer Service Agent when you arrive at the gate. There's no need to ask the Agent, in fact, approaching the desk may hinder efforts for an on-time departure.

  • Members who receive an upgrade to a higher cabin will enjoy the same inflight service as all other guests, however, dining options may be limited when a complimentary upgrade has been provided.
  • If a member wishes to be excluded from receiving all future complimentary upgrades (both prior to check-in and at the gate) they must contact us by email to make the request. Please allow up to 30 days for your member information to be removed from our automated processes.

Running early, or late? Getting on another flight is easier when you’re a Gold member. Subject to the conditions below, Gold members may change to an earlier flight, or be re-accommodated for a missed flight, to the same origin and destination on the same calendar day of travel, without paying a fee.

  • Same-day flight changes are defined as early and missed flight re-accommodation (known as early show and late show, respectively) for the same origin and destination on the same calendar day of travel.
  • Re-accommodation to an earlier or later flight must be requested during check-in (or, if at the airport, within 2 hours of a missed flight) and is subject to availability of a seat in the same cabin as originally booked.
  • Re-accommodation to an earlier flight (early show) may only be requested if the member has not already checked bags on the original flight.
  • Re-accommodation for a missed flight (late show) is applicable to the next available flight only. A member wishing to travel on a flight other than the next available is required to purchase the new flight at the lowest available fare; funds paid for original flight will be forfeited.
  • Member may request a maximum of one (1) free same-day flight change for each direction of travel (i.e. origin to destination) on the reservation; the change fee in effect for the fare option purchased will be charged for all subsequent changes.

Effective December 12, 2018, a companion voucher valid for one round-trip WestJet flight anywhere we fly is awarded for achieving the $4,000, $6,000 and $8,000 qualifying spend milestones, as well as each additional increment of $2,000 during your qualifying year. To use the companion voucher, you must purchase one WestJet-marketed and operated flight in Economy or Premium for travel anywhere WestJet flies in North America, Central America, the Caribbean or Europe and the second guest on the same itinerary will only pay the taxes, fees and charges.

  • Changes or cancellations to companion voucher bookings are allowed, except when a Basic fare has been purchased, which is a 100% non-refundable fare with no change options allowed. Guests are required to pay all applicable fees based on the fare type purchased for each ticket, plus the difference in fare on the regular ticket, if applicable. Changes must be made prior to the expiry date of the voucher used for the booking. Bookings made after July 24, 2019 may be changed or cancelled online via Manage Trips.
