Exceptional Service

Paradise616616 (Mexico City, Mexico) on Jan 06, 2026

I spent Christmas and new year atthis hotel, and I can say it was a truly great experience overall. While there are some areas for improvement, the highlights of the trip made it well worth it. The Service (The Best Part): The absolute standout of this hotel is the staff’s service attitude. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and valued. I want to give a special shout-out to Ray Reyes Ramón (the "wines guy"). He is an incredibly dedicated professional and a fantastic staff member also Kerly Almonte who really made us feel well taken care of . Their knowledge and attention to detail added such a high level of quality to our dining experiences. Thank you, Ramon and Kerly! Facilities & Common Areas: The public areas of the resort are very well-maintained. Whether it was the pools, the lobby, or the outdoor spaces, the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing vacation. To be honest, the rooms are outdated and definitely in need of a renovation.. However, the impeccable service and the positive energy of the staff more than made up for the room conditions. Conclusion: If you value a warm, welcoming environment and top-tier service over a modern room, you will love it here. The staff truly is the heart of this resort. We had a wonderful time!

New years fun

Carol M (Warrington, Pennsylvania) on Jan 06, 2026

Room was a good size but a bit dated. It was very clean but definitely needs to be updated. The resort was very clean. They had people cleaning the grounds constantly. I did not use there transfers from airport I used Santo Domingo taxi and they were excellent. U will have an hour ride to resort. It is 70 each way and we had 4 people. The pool area was great. The bartenders Darwin and Franklin are amazing. The woman activity director was excellent. They have plenty of activities to do all day and night. The beach u will not have blue water as a river runs into the ocean. The ocean is warm and u can swim in it. I recommend doing the trip to Catalina island. Food and drink was really good. If u like seafood they have plenty of it. If u don’t like it there is plenty to choose from. I suggest to go to all 3 restaurants Italian, Mediterranean and French. Overall for the value it was a good resort. I went during the most expensive time new years. It was a lot of fun and they had plenty to do!

Not a 5 star resort

343dhf (Toronto, Canada) on Jan 04, 2026

It’s far from a 5 star hotel, the rooms are outdated, mold and mildew around the tub, shower fixtures are rusted, the rooms are dirty and stained and the bed does not come with a duvet. When you get here, they ask right way if you want access to more and better facilities like the other two restaurants or having room service you need to upgrade to the luxury side which is roughly $50 per night more per couple. It seems that for all the money you spend to come to a 5 star hotel they don’t know what 5 star actually is. You can only book their restaurants for 3 nights of your stay. For an all inclusive this is crazy. We only just got here so not sure if the luxury rooms are any better. I’d say spend the extra money and go to a better resort as they will try to push you to upgrade anyways.

An amazing Christmas and New Year break!

Lucy B on Jan 04, 2026

We had a fantastic time at The Bahia Principle Grande La Romana. There was a large group of us- nine people and we had rooms next to one another. The swimming pool was excellent and there was never a shortage of beds by the pool or by the beach. The food was excellent in the buffet restaurants and the specialist restaurants couldn't have been better. Great variety. Great choice! Really delicious. There were jellyfish on the beach but you just had to be a little bit careful. We were able to take out the paddle boards, the canoes and the catamaran free of charge as part of the package. Great entertainment by the pool and inside the hotel. We had a beach party on the beach with fire eaters!. Something for everyone from the youngest to the oldest. Beautiful sunsets and the staff were so friendly and helpful and sang happy birthday to my mum on several occasions. The transfer was an hour and 15 minutes from Punta Cana airport. We arranged a taxi through booking.com which worked out exceptionally well. We also arranged a Jeep Safari through booking.com. this was great fun seeing the countryside and learning about sugarcane. We did get rather muddy! We were there for New Year's Eve which was beyond believe! The food was exceptional.

Should have believed the negative reviews...

Peter M on Jan 01, 2026

If you are considering this resort, you need to look elsewhere. When you read the negative reviews you should believe them! Spend your money elsewhere l, like RIU or Iberostar. We have been to over 25 all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and this one is by far the worst. The property was due for renovation and repairs 15 years ago... Check-in: none of the room requests that we have put in were taken into consideration. We spent hours at the front desk trying to figure out the rooms. Upon reservation we asked for two simple things: one room with a king bed and the other one with two twin beds (for our teenagers) and for both rooms to be on second floor. Rooms and amenities: The rooms are decent size but very old and tired. There is virtually no sound insulation and you can hear everything that is happening in the building. The mattresses are rock hard. There is NO hot or warm water and there are many places inside the room and bathroom that ate moldy and beat up. We have been showering with cold, not warm water for the entire stay...ridiculous Entertainment: There is no entertainment team around the pool and beach. Food: the food is well below average with the exception of the New Years dinner. People that are on carnivore or keto diet are 100% out of luck. I am basically having to fast because there is barely anything to eat. If you are on general diet and you are not picky you may find cold slices of pizza or old hot dogs and burgers and rice and potatoes. Beach: yes, the water is murky and not clear. But on the plus side there are no waves. Restaurants: Poor selection and virtually no available reservations. We were able to book two dinner reservations upon arrival for our entire stay of 7 days.
