A holiday in two halves

We booked a 14-day all-inclusive, adults-only stay over Christmas and New Year 2025 at TRS Punta Cana via British Airways Holidays. I'm 64, my partner 71 - both very active and well travelled. Unfortunately, our initial experience was disappointing given the price paid. Our junior suite was very damp and musty, the jet bath was dirty, and the TV did not work. Before arrival, we had used the e-butler system to select pillows and request that all alcohol be removed from the room and minibar. These requests were ignored. While the butler service did eventually sort the pillows, the alcohol was never removed. To manage the damp, an industrial-size dehumidifier was installed in the room, which ran constantly and was noisy. After three nights, the ongoing issues made the room unacceptable. We raised concerns via the customer service email sent after 24 hours, but received no response. Things only improved once we spoke directly with the Palladium Travel Club sales team. They arranged a room move and upgraded us to a swim-up suite. Although the TV still had issues, the overall experience was significantly better from that point on. The spa is pleasant but extremely expensive compared with equivalent professional treatments in the UK. Food was generally good with plenty of variety. Staff were kind and mostly efficient. Butler service was variable—one was excellent, others were adequate. The most concerning aspect was the clear difference in service quality once Travel Club staff became involved. The experience after joining was superb, but standards should be consistent for all guests, not dependent on sales engagement. Overall: mixed experience, rescued by excellent sales staff rather than proactive customer care.

I enjoyed the resort itself. But the service needed some help. It started off great, but they dont accommodate large groups (6 people). We didnt get any meal reservations because our group was too big. We weren't put together like we wanted.

Nice but could be better.

We are 3 days into our vacation. We have a junior suite with swim up pool. The room is spacious but very tired looking needs updating. The bed in particular four poster very 70's with some linen tied in the corners just looks so dated. There is a coffee machine but if you are a tea drinker you are screwed or bring a travel kettle otherwise there is nowhere to get hot water. There is sufficient wardrobe space a small fridge and safe. The shower is a good size and good and constant water temperature. The electrical plugs are flakey at best and need updating to cater for modern travel to include USB charging etc. They offer what they claim as a butler service but not in the traditional way. Its a concierge service where a person sits behind a desk who will book on site restaurant reservations and order transport services around the complex via golf type carts. This all seems to work well thus far. However ours seems to not be around from 1900 hours. They provide you with a whatsapp number for direct communication and I requested assistance on that number two hours ago and still have not received a response? They suggest downloading their app but if you use their wifi it does not download at all and it took me a little while to find a work around. Tip: turn off wifi and download using cellular instead. The grounds are lovely very well maintained and clean. The buffet style restaurants offer a good breakfast and lunch selection but I have found the evening A La Carte disappointing in quality and hot dishes luke warm at best. Lets see how the next 10 days go.

Stay at TRS Punta Cuna

Excellent room, very good food. Only disappointment was that the Hemmingway Bar is no longer exclusive to TRS and Palladium Travel Club Members. It is open to all hotels in the group and hence there are no premium drinks offered.

TRS Turquesa

I spent 10 days at TRS Turquesa with friends and we had a great stay. The resort is huge and offers plenty of good restaurants, a good buffet, and lots of activities to keep you busy. The beach is nice, and I’m really glad I chose to stay for 10 days. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation and Palladium resorts in general
