How to Be Wonderfully Pampered, 101
Nick S on Jan 10, 2026
Secrets Cap Cana was my wife and I’s first all-inclusive experience, and let me tell you - they did not disappoint in the least bit. #1, The staff there is simply incredible. People like our concierge, Gerardo, as well as notable waiters, like Junior from Market Cafe, simply made our experience wonderful by being wonderful people. They treated us like family, and we felt right at home. #2, The cleaning staff is EXCELLENT. I was amazed at how much the cleaning staff cleans - it’s not just changing out towels and making the bed. They did those things, but changed our sheets regularly, made sure we had enough water bottles, swept the floor, tidied up our room, and made sure that we had a wonderful & clean room to come back to. They took great care to do things right, and we truly truly appreciated the cleaning staff! #3, The food was incredible. We got to try so many different dishes from different cultures, and Portofino was our absolute favorite. Outstanding food. Market cafe, the buffet place, also has an IMPRESSIVE spread of food - that was incredible. #4, The beach was well kept, well staffed, and not crowded. The neighboring resort Nextdoor looked like a frat party in comparison, and I was so glad we weren’t over there! We were able to relax, enjoy the sounds of the ocean, and truly enjoy ourselves at SCC. To sum it up, Secrets Cap Cana was like a lesson in how to be pampered. Everything was excellent, and multiple people we talked with outside of the resort (in an excursion) said that nothing else in the DR compares. I know they’re right. If you’re questioning whether SCC will treat you right, think no more - they did a stellar job. Thank you guys!! - Nick & Rach
Just Ok

This was my first time going to Punta Cana. My husband and I have been to Cancun multiple times and the last time we were in Cancun, we decided to join the Unlimited Vacation Club with Secrets/Hyatt. We’ve always loved the Secrets resorts in Cancun for their modern feel, excellent service, amazing food, and beautiful beaches. We always go to Cancun so decided to try a new place and went with Punta Cana to start of 2026. I watched so many videos and reviews of Secrets Cap Cana before booking and everyone seemed to love it. I was so excited to go to this resort since it has won the 5 star diamond award 4th year consecutively. I want to write this review because I’m not sure if people are lying or just have bad taste, but I just came back on Jan 7, 2026 and would like to share my experience. I would like to start with the cons. Cons: 1. Rooms - we were in 1401 (junior suite with garden view). But we went with a group of 12, so a total of 4 rooms in the same building, on the 4th floor all together. There were so many issues with the rooms. One room’s jacuzzi on the balcony was not working. One room’s phone wasn’t working cause they couldn’t call for room service (this is how we found out about the app). Our bathroom faucets were kind of off the wall a little. One of the room’s second rain shower wasn’t working. Since we were on the 4th floor, we used the elevator and the button to press down never worked. You literally have to keep pressing it until the light turns on. Overall, the building and rooms were just old and dingy. 2. Service - the service wasn’t horrible but it does not compare to Cancun. I think if someone has never been to another resort and this was their first time, then maybe the service was acceptable. However, in Cancun, the workers would always greet you every time they see you. But here, they ignore you or they just don’t greet you unless you greet them. For example, at the Coco Bar on the beach, they had some fresh coconuts. My husband went there to grab one and no one was in front of him. The 3 guys at the Coco Bar were just chatting in Spanish with each other and staring at him. He asked if he could get one and they finally said something to him. I also feel like the staff is not well trained on events happening around the resort. An example was when they had a Caricature night. It didn’t specify the exact location, just said lobby. So I asked a staff and showed him the picture in the app. He said the lobby is the bar in the lobby. So we went there and the staff in the lobby bar were confused. Lastly, when you order too much food at a restaurant, they servers seemed annoyed. One of the restaurant, my niece ordered for her and her husband. When the server went to her husband, he said oh she already ordered for me. The server said “ok but I need to know which dish you are eating”. I guess I don’t understand why that matters because it’s all-inclusive. Overall, I just have a feeling like the workers don’t want to be there. 3. Food - I honestly think people have bad taste because the food here is just ok. Breakfast and lunch buffet was trash. Food was either flavorless or greasy or dry. Coco cafe - iced coffees and frappe are great, but the smoothies taste weird because of the artificial flavors they used. The strawberry flavor was so weird, I had to spit it out. The pastries and donuts were dry and stale. It did not taste good at all. They had 6 restaurants for dinner and the food was either a hit or miss. Desserts are not good here, so dry and stale. We also tried room service and I feel like they questioned us a lot because we had 12 people so we would do big orders and they would always ask “how many people are you ordering for”. Overall, the food was a hit or miss. Nothing that really stands out. See pros review for my favorite dishes. 4. Entertainment - they have activities throughout the day but they don’t have much at night. We went to a show and it was ok. 5. Water activities - free paddle board, kayak, sailboat. Sadly during our stay, the weather was too windy so there was only 1 day that we could go in the water so we paddle board and kayak a little. Pro: Location - the location is nice but it does get Sargassum. I was surprised to see so much sargassum in January. Usually when we go to Cancun in January, there’s no sargassum. We did do some morning walks on the beach and they get a lot of Sargassum in the morning but they’ll clean it, so it didn’t bother us much. Cleaning service - omg the best! Nothing and to say about their cleaning service. Butler - Alexander was amazing!!!! He was the only amazing service that we received at this resort. Every time he saw us, he would come by and say hello and talk to us. I swear whenever I think of him, he just shows up without me texting him. He was amazing and so accommodating. He made all of our dinner reservations since we had a big group. Pool - love the infinity pool and the main pool. Lots of seats but it does get taken fast so we just sit at the pool bar. Beach - the beach is nice. Love the swings they put around the beach. The water was very warm. You have to book the bigger cabanas, but the Palapa Chairs are free. What I see people do is they’ll take the beach towels the day before and come early to put the towels there to reserve. Drinks - the drinks are so strong. My favorite was the mango margarita but they do have drink of the day that you can try. Favorite restaurant and dishes: {Breakfast} Rose Water (preferred club only) - pancakes were soft and pillowy {Lunch} 1. Lunch buffet - build your own burger. 2. Seaside Grill Lunch - fish tacos, shrimp cocktail, and shrimp curry dish. {Dinner} 1. Oceana - scallops 2. Asian Restaurant - California and Philly roll 3. Italian Restaurant - salmon, lamb chops, and salmon pasta 4. French - duck confit 5. Seaside grill - T-bone steak, lobster {open 24 hrs} 1. Room service - club sandwich, steak 2. Coco cafe - iced coffees, frappes Overall, we had a great time together as a group. While it was a 5-star resort, the service and food didn’t quite compare to Cancun. I think we’ll be sticking with Cancun in the future. Nonetheless, we still had an amazing time—and maybe drank a little too much.
Exquisite resort with attentive staff!

My husband and I enjoyed our trip from the moment we stepped into the lobby! Check in was quick and easy. The sparkling wine offered upon our arrival was delicious. We had a beautiful view of the beach from our room and highly enjoyed watching the sunrise from the balcony tub. Our concierge, Gerardo, made us feel welcome and provided helpful information. He checked in daily to ensure our needs were met and handled needs as necessary behind the scenes. He was super helpful in reserving seats for the tepenyaki show at the Japanese restaurant. We have never been anywhere where the staff has been so attentive and quick to anticipate our needs. The beach was well maintained and the food was delicious! The vibe was very laid back and there were plenty of fun activities provided within the resort. We did choose to go on two excursions and the resort had everything set up for us and advised us on what to bring which was so helpful. This resort is definitely geared toward couples and had a very romantic feel to it. We could have easily spent another week here and hope to visit again!

Overall a great resort. Large, with many restaurants and bars, a beautiful private beach, pools, clean and spacious rooms with ocean view. Staff were all very professional and friendly. A big thank you to our butler/concierge Luis, who was very competent and always available to help us.
Incredible experience

Truly incredible stay! We crammed in a 50th Birthday, Romantic dinner on the beach, Spa day, cabana for the day and also an engagement. Jeison our personal butler was incredible and took care of all the details for us. Checked in daily and made sure our trip was perfect. We will definitely be back.
