Incredible staff ensured that our honeymoon was the best vacation of our lives. We felt like royalty.

We spent 5 nights at Secrets Cap Cana for our Honeymoon. It was the best vacation of our lives. The staff was incredible, and really made our stay memorable. Our concierge Christian ensured that we felt like royalty. They weren’t aware of our honeymoon at arrival, but immediately made us feel like we were their first priority once they knew our occasion. Raudi at the swim up bar made sure our glasses were always full. Scooby, Eli and Mini Me made sure we always had activities to enjoy on the beach and in the pool. Every dinner was satisfying and we were not once disappointed. We will definitely be coming back.

Another solid trip to Secrets Cap Cana

Townie33 (Cookeville, Tennessee) on Jul 20, 2024

Usually I rate our trips on three criteria: 1. Do we want to return 2. How long do we continue to talk about the trip once home 3. And if we do return, how excited are we as we anticipate our return to a specific resort We definitely would like to return to SCC. We had an amazing trip this time and plan on talking about this last trip for months. We also made some good friends who we hope to stay in touch with. As far as our next trip to SCC, well, we've only been home a couple of days. But my wife is chewing on my ear to begin planning another trip. So there it is........ We very, very much enjoy this resort. Is it perfect.........NO. But there is plenty here for us to enjoy. Let me begin with the PEOPLE working at this resort. They all were outstanding. Each year we have been very fortunate to become acquainted with some outstanding people at SCC. They go above and beyond to make sure your trip is memorable. Here is our list. I will apologize in advance for misspelling some names. Carlos: He was our butler. He also was our butler last year. Carlos is simply an amazing individual. He actually had to pass us off to another since he had a 4-day break during our visit. Phillipe: He was also our butler. Carlos passed us off to Philipe once he left for a few days. Phillipe too was incredible. Phillipe found time to stop by and see us at the pool each and every day. We shared many laughs and stories. Both took great care of us. Joshua: Joshua is another butler; but not our butler. Joshua also is know on property as COCO. He is one of many entertainers at SCC. Aside from his butler duties; he can be found by the pool giving dance lessons. He also runs pool aerobics and Zumba. In the evenings he is in charge of the Karaoke. He (and Phillipe) stopped by often to see us at the pool. This young man is quite sincere, but he was hilarious at the same time. He (like many) works long hours. Around the pool area we had multiple ladies making sure we were well hydrated. Stephany, Esperanza, and Yohany (sp?) were extremely cognizant of our beverage wants. I cannot recall a time when we were want for a drink. Aside from the pool, we (especially my wife) spent plenty of time in the CoCo Cafe. Melvin, Mary, Alexandra, Alcides, and Saidy could not do enough to make sure coffees and desserts we readily available. They were so friendly and helpful! Saidy also works at the Rosewater Cafe in the mornings. I wish I could remember our servers/waiters at the restaurants. They too were extremely attentive and helpful. As for the property itself, it is immaculate. The people working the grounds keep it beautiful. What about the rooms? Honestly, we spent very little time in our room. I would say our room was quite comfortable. I have read where some of the rooms have AC issues. This was definitely NOT the case for us. This year our room had a dehumidifier to help keep out the dampness. This worked quite well. The food??? I find this to be a very subjective topic. We all have different tastes, wants, and needs. For us, the food is very good. We had no issue finding something to "satiate the palate." Did I find the food outstanding? No. But there is a plethora of choices and all choices are quite plentiful. All Inclusive equates with ALL YOU CAN EAT. You will be hard pressed to NOT find something you like. Personally, I enjoyed the Tempura Shrimp and Chicken Teriyaki at Rosewater. I also am a fan of the lasagna at Portofino. The creme brûlée at Bordeaux is fantastic. I also "forced" myself to have a shake at the Coco Cafe and a banana split at the Seaside Grill. My wife goes bonkers over the roasted sweet potato soup at Seaside. The pools are very, very nice. We spent the extra $$$ and went with the preferred area. I greatly enjoy the more tranquil pool and the additional restaurant options. The non-preferred pool is extremely nice. While there are more patrons at this pool, it also has a very nice swim up bar and another pool on the deck. The Barefoot Grill is also available here for snacks just off the pool. All pool activities are at this pool. It also is a bit more boisterous. Should you wish a private transfer to/from the airport, I highly recommend Mike Fisher. He also gives a discount to members of the "Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa Fans" Facebook group. (I have a very brief review on TA of this service.) I highly recommend you join the aforementioned FB group. Plenty of helpful hints/tips can be found in that group. There is very little not to like about SCC. But, of course, I have found a couple of issues. There is too much smoking for my liking here. Upon arrival you sign a waiver saying you won't smoke (especially in the rooms) on property except for designated areas. Unfortunately this is not the case. There were numerous times where guests would walk past us and we would be forced to inhale their "exhausts." To each his own. But I really don't wish to share your smoke especially when you have signed off on the whole NOT SMOKING stuff. The same goes for those who wish to VAPE. I'm still a bit confused why they would designate a smoking area just outside the Coco Cafe. People are in there trying to eat/drink and the smoke just floats inside the restaurant. You also waive your rights to using your bluetooth speaker in/around public areas. Unfortunately you may have to listen to some other guest's favorite tunes by the pool. There will always be those who feel the need to be intrusive towards others. Would we return........ Most likely. Are there other comparable options? Absolutely! I believe you get for what you pay for. And this can be pretty pricey. Thanks to all who helped make our trip a success. It wasn't perfect. But then what is?

Fun filled and relaxing birthday trip

Aung A on Jul 20, 2024

Our stay was amazing, and probably the best resort stay ever. We have stayed at places like LeBlanc in Cancun which costs a lot more, and I enjoyed SCC a ton more. We stayed in the Preferred section, and our Tropical View room had an Ocean View. Preferred rooms are worth is for the extra restaurant Rosewater, the premium liquors and the general chill vibe around the pool and separate beach area. Comes with a butler who checks in with you each day to let you know of activities, look out for our well-being and someone you can make personal requests to. Our butler Mr. Enrique even texted me to let me know that my wife dropped her passport underneath the bedside table. We stayed mostly at the main pools in the regular section as it was livelier there. The swim-up bar staff in the regular section was the best. Manuel and Jose are 2 of the staff I remember by name, although everyone was great on that team including the pool-side waiters/waitresses. The staff even cleans our reusable straws and insulated cups with great care in between drinks if needed. The pool/beachside food are also amazing. We tried every restaurant, all were delicious. SCC does sushi/sashimi very well, and all the dishes we tried at Himitsu were delicious. Oceana was delicious for dinner, was happy to see some Dominican/Caribbean dishes there. Seaside Grill at lunch was great. We had sancocho which is a Dominican stew that reminds me of Southeast Asian stews due to similar spices. The beef in the DR is tougher as the cows are free-range, so always order steaks on the rarer side than you are used to in the USA. The ribeye steak at Rosewater was good quality and delicious. Bordeaux, the French restaurant was good and portions are smaller in this particular restaurant. This is a blessing as you can order more items off the menu and try more dishes. On the corner of the roped off swim area on the regular side, there is a small coral where you can see some fish. We brought our own snorkel gear but you can rent one on the beach for free, amongst other things like paddleboard, kayak or even a small sailboat. Just tip the staff. Awesome service, food, drinks, beach, sea, activities. All round top resort. We will be back for sure.
