A perfect place to vacation.

We love this resort , we have been here several times. Our kids love spending the majority of the day at kids club. They really know how to entertain the kids.

Would not return to this Hotel!

Jeni_Wren1989 on Dec 06, 2025

Our first 2 nights were in a room that was dirty, so humid the floors and bedding were constantly damp and the bath peeling, we asked to move and was told the hotel was full, the next morning we went back and said totally not happy, the couch was stained badly, we was on 2nd floor with a baby and no elevator and the general state of the room meant we was unhappy, again told they was full but could move us the next day, (our 3rd day). We moved, location was great, room was generally better and more modern and clean, then we got sick, between 2 adults we got extreme sickness and diarrhea 3 times, im pregnant too. We avoided fresh produce and ice for the rest of our stay, buffet food was nice 2 evenings out of our 9 nights and one night we ate at the Mexican restaurant which was nice. Then the drains in our bathroom started to smell and got so bad we dreaded entering the room as was always worse upon first entry. Guest services called the day before we left and asked how our stay was and when we attempted to tell them there wasn't an actual care and just informed us they would state once we moved rooms things improved. Entertainment is the same group of young adults day after day, nothing really cultural or authentic for Mexico. Having stayed in other resorts and having the best time, this hotel is a HARD NO. Reviews on this place helped us pick this hotel but we absolutely did not have the same experience the other reviews are putting out there. Lastly, hotel staff continuously attempted to sell us some kind of membership package, even when we sat with excursions planning our activities they attempted to sell us on membership. We explained we had absolutely no interest in this and they still attempted to explain their pitch and said we only needed to attend a breakfast with them and we'd get $80 to put towards our excursions. We didnt take a vacation to be approached by sales teams on numerous occasions WHILST in the resort!

Viva Maya love

NickNikolaevV (Whistler, Canada) on Dec 04, 2025

This is our 3rd trip to Mexico but first time at Viva Maya. Everything was great but I would like to point out THE STUFF, people who work at viva maya are amazing, they made us feel like family from the day one, everyone really worries about you, everyone cares!!! The one person who really stood out is lobby bartender Geisler or Gaislerito! He remembered everyone in our family from the day one, he was always there. You need help? Ask Geislerito he will make sure you got what you need. Thanks Geisler, thank you Viva Maya, see you again next year.

Average resort, good for the money, has both good and bad.

Stayed in this area for several years in the row in different hotels. Great location, secluded private area with hotels and houses, can walk around, very close walk to playa del Carmen. Now about the hotel: Pros: -Very good beach, no rocks, enough beds for everyone, plenty of shade under palms -Lunch and dinner buffet is decent for the most part, restaurants are also not bad -Excellent kids club -Good entertainment, both at the day time and at night. With kids involvment. -Tennis, archery, pool tables, ping pong, trapeze, bingo, bicycles. -Staff is good Cons: -Hotel is very overcrowded. No infrastructure in place to handle these many people Lines everywhere: bars, cafe, buffet. -Constant long lines to all the bars: evening in the lobby bar, day time at the pool/beach bar. -Hard to find a free table at the breakfast. Breakfast has poor choice of food compare to other resorts. Coffee at the buffet is disgusting, need to get it either at the bar or cafe (stay in line). -Poor choice of alcohol unless you are a “club member” -No liquors at the buffet (just beer and wine) which is unusual, if you want a few shots during the dinner, have to stay in line at the bar and bring with you to the buffet. -Party at the lobby every other night till midnight, very loud, don't get the room close to the lobby if you have kids. -Rooms are outdated, but clean. Our stink really bad for the first couple of days. Sink and shower smell like sewer.
