The WestJet Group welcomes Canada’s removal of pre-departure testing for fully vaccinated travellers

The WestJet Group welcomes today’s announcement from the federal government, removing pre-departure testing for fully vaccinated travellers as of April 1, 2022. The decision aligns with science, data and countries around the world, allowing Canadians to safely travel without the risk of uncertainty that has been associated with travel testing.

“We have been tirelessly advocating on behalf of our industry, guests and communities for the removal of travel barriers and today’s announcement signals a significant step forward for the recovery of our industry,” said Angela Avery, WestJet Executive Vice-President, External Affairs.

The announcement arrives at a crucial time as WestJet continues to make significant investments in restoring its domestic and transatlantic network having recently announced the airline’s 2022 summer schedule. As Canadians make their highly anticipated return to travel, this is important for once again making travel more affordable and accessible.

“As Canadians look to take the skies once again, we are pleased to have restored our network to near pre-pandemic levels, in time for our guests to experience travel this summer,” continued Avery.
