WestJet Guest Updates

Updated on February 13, 2026 at 5 p.m. MST

We know how important your travel plans are, and we want you to feel supported as we closely monitor and respond to the situation in Cuba and the latest travel advisory from Global Affairs Canada. At this time, the Government of Canada continues to advise travellers to exercise a high degree of caution when travelling to Cuba, related to fuel shortages and impacts to essential services that may disrupt travel on short notice.

Aligning with our focus to put the care of our guests and crew first and to protect the integrity of our operation, the WestJet Group has made the difficult decision to begin an orderly wind-down of our winter operations to Cuba. As part of this plan, the Group’s service to Cuba will be suspended effective February 18, 2026. This applies to WestJet, Sunwing Vacations, WestJet Vacations, and Vacances WestJet Québec.

To lessen the strain on local resources, beginning Monday, February 9, 2026 the WestJet Group has suspended sales for remaining service to Cuba and will leverage aircraft departing for Cuba to safely bring our guests currently vacationing in destination back home. All flights will carry sufficient fuel to ensure a safe departure without relying on local fuel availability.

At this time, there are no safety or security concerns for our guests who remain in Cuba.

If you’re scheduled to travel to Cuba on a flight or vacation package with WestJet, Sunwing Vacations, WestJet Vacations, or Vacances WestJet Québec, your trip will be cancelled. Affected guests will receive communication with options, including refunds or flexible changes.

As part of our ongoing response, sales have now re-opened for the remaining northbound flights from Cuba operating on or before February 17.

These flights are available for guests who require one-way travel from Cuba to Canada prior to our suspension of service.

Guests currently in destination who require assistance are encouraged to contact us so we can review their situation and provide support where possible.

We appreciate our guests’ patience and understanding as we continue to support travellers during this time.
