Wonderful stay over Christmas
CecW123 (Stebbing, United Kingdom) on Jan 08, 2026
We had a wonderful stay at the chateau over Christmas. The staff were excellent. Our concierge, Alan McDonald, was very helpful ahead of our stay, in booking the hotel restaurants for us over the festive period and helping me navigate the complicated Whistler ski pass booking process, which was much appreciated. I heard some other guests complaining about difficulty in booking the hotel restaurants over this period, but the hotel was extremely clear in recommending that guests make restaurant bookings for Christmas Day ahead of arriving. It worked extremely smoothly for us. Nothing was too much trouble. Standout service also came from the ski concierges - especially James. His efforts to assist me daily to and from the boot room were much appreciated. As was the hot chocolate at the end of the day. We enjoyed the spa area each day - this was a high point for me. The French bar man (apologies forgot his name) provided a particularly good service. The only down sides were… the behaviour of some of the other guests (clearly beyond the control of the hotel). This was at odds with the rest of our trip to Canada, where we consistently met friendly, delightful Canadians. Some of the other guests (they were not Canadian) behaved in an entitled way. The lift situation could also have been improved. One of the 4 lifts was out of service during our stay and this led to queues.
Decent place

Very nice stay, but there are pros and cons you should know about.

I went with my family this past Christmas/New Year's holiday. We stayed in the gold level. Here are some pros: the concierge staff at the gold level is very helpful. They expertly arranged dining, ski lift tickets, ski rentals, and ski instruction. We had no hiccups. They are very knowledgeable and are eager to please. The gold level lounge is very nice. There is plenty of seating overall. The food selection is good and quickly replenished. The rooms are updated. Hot chocolate in the lobby was much appreciated after a long day of skiing. The entire hotel staff is very friendly. The location is excellent as it is right next to the ski gondola at Blackcomb. It is easy to walk to Whistler Village. The shuttle service around town is a nice touch. Here are some cons: the food quality is mixed. The steakhouse is mediocre at best. I don't understand how they could've gotten so many awards when the meat quality is average, and half of our steaks were not prepare to our request. The ski equipment pick up area is very very busy just prior to the opening of the ski resort, and just after the ski resort closes. So be prepared for lines and crowds. Regarding the rooms, the shower is tiny. It literally feels like showering in a bathroom stall. Overall, this is a very good hotel. The best aspect is the service and friendliness of the staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Cozy stay!

Great location close to the Blackcomb gondola, making it very convenient. Comfortable rooms and a nice breakfast made for a lovely stay in Whistler.
Another amazing stay

Enjoyed another amazing stay at the FCW. Check-in is fast and easy as always. Gorgeous rooms with a picturesque slope-side view. There are excellent dining options available at the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of easy walking trails nearby, but the FCW also offers tour packages for some other nearby trails for varying skill levels. Parking is available at the hotel. We especially love the pool and hot tubs to relax in after a nice hike. Friendly reminder, the hot tubs are generally for quiet relaxation, NOT a waterpark for your poorly behaved kids. Excellent service at every turn. See you next year.
