Great location beach front
Topfuelwrench (Red Bluff, California) on Jul 14, 2026
Been at Islander on the beach now five times, four of the trips I went through VRBO or Airbnb rooms had great charm and most had lots of extras like ice chest , beach chairs , boogie boards ! This time I decided to go through Outrigger itself .. checked in and went to our room . It was oceanfront like we always get , nice little hotel room , we were told mid week room will be cleaned with new towels and sheets .. kinda reason I when through hotel .. I knew all others I had rented from owners would not get cleaned. So midweek came and went by that time I decided I’m not gonna say anything, we were able to exchange beach towels, that’s one thing that you couldn’t do if you rent from owners. Room did come with a microwave and a small refrigerator, which was nice. Used it a bunch. Used to have fresh coffee in lobby but that ended during Covid .. I certainly will stay again because location is awesome and ocean front is wonderful. Nice walking path .. small beach but watch for rocks . Lava Lava beach club is next door !!
A Perfect Oceanfront Getaway
lgamagag (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) on Jul 12, 2026
We had a wonderful stay at Aston Islander on the Beach! We were fortunate to receive an oceanfront room, and waking up each morning to the incredible views was truly the highlight of our trip. The property is beautifully maintained, with lush tropical landscaping and a peaceful atmosphere that made it easy to relax. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a great stay. The location is excellent—close to shopping, restaurants, and beaches, making it easy to explore the island while still enjoying a quiet place to come back to. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose Aston Islander on the Beach again on our next visit to Kaua?i. Mahalo for a memorable vacation!
Pay a little more and get yourself a nicer stay

location is great, and that's the only positive thing about this hotel. Rooms are 200 years old with bad smell and uncomfortable beds. I would not recommend. Pay a little more and stay at a "hotel". Peggy and other lady front desk folks are great though.
Horrendous customer service

If it weren't for the horrendous customer service I received at check-in, I would have given this hotel a higher rating. Unfortunately, the service I experienced was some of the worst I've ever encountered. After a seven-hour flight and waiting three hours to check in, I was greeted at the front desk with complete indifference. I had originally reserved two rooms, but was only given information for one. When I pointed out the mistake, I received no apology—only attitude and annoyance from the staff. The problems didn't stop there. The air conditioning did not work properly, the rooms were filthy, and the overall condition of the property was far below expectations. I am not someone who leaves negative reviews lightly, but this experience was genuinely disappointing from start to finish. There are plenty of other options in the area. I would strongly recommend booking with Hilton or another hotel that values its guests and provides the level of service travelers deserve.
Aston Islander (Kauai) Lihue - do not recommend - hotel dated, maintenance required
lkholder (Tokyo, Japan) on May 21, 2026
Upon last minute reservation arrival, my room read 50 degrees on the temperature guage and staff could not resolve. After a few hours, I was moved to a 3rd floor room (no elevator) and that room was OK. However, I had to pursue a room change for several hours with the staff as no maintenance was on site apparently. I would not recommend this hotel or the specific area as it is older and out of date. I was not initially given any recommendations for dining, nothing on site, and I found a pizza place open. Next day, I found a nice beach side restaurant next door, had I known, it would have made my one night there a LOT better.
