This is not the Disney I know and love.

After 6 trips to Disney World and 3 Disney cruises, I considered myself a devoted fan. We booked on the Disney webpage, and later discovered we overpaid by over $600 compared to friends staying at the same time. The receptionist actually went to talk to a manager to see why we overpaid (her initiative after seeing what we were paying, not our request), and came back saying that just was the actual price leaving us very confused (and honestly like we were cheated). The second night I tried to order room service and waiting on hold for 20 minutes. An automated message came up saying I could just press 1 and leave a message for room service to call me back. I pressed one and got the front desk instead. She was confused and said they didn't have a system to call me back and that I would have to just call room service back again and just wait in the queue from the beginning again. No sympathy, an no options. I am just severely disappointed in this entire stay at this hotel.

Wow! I can’t say enough about our experience at the Disneyland Hotel and Resort! Magical, romantic, breathtaking... etc... I had the pleasure of staying in the Fairytale Suite on the 11th floor in the Adventure Tour with club level service! What an experience and view! The staff at the resort go above and beyond in meeting all your needs and ensuring that you’re stay is wonderful! The e ticket lounge is incredible and you’re able to eat and drink as much as your heart desires and rent Disney movies anytime of the day! Also the view of Downtown Disney is gorgeous and really makes you feel like you’re floating in a fairytale! My husband and I can’t wait to stay here again! Thanks again, Disneyland!

    Fairytale Signature Suite

I was treated to a night in the Fairytale Suite for my birthday. The room was around $1440 for the night, definitely a splurge for a hotel for 1 night, but it is as much about the experience as it is about the room. There are 4 or 5 signature (themed) suites including a pirates of the Caribbean, a mountain railroad one, Mickey mouse themed suite etc, but these all go for 2 - 2 1/2 times as much due to there being two bedrooms. The fairytale suite is one room with a HUGE bathroom and is ideal for couples. You are given free access to the executive club which is right beside the room and gives you free snacks and drinks (you can ask for beer, wine and champagne and they'll being it out to you), parking is included and you receive gifts from the hotel which included a lovely tote with your name embroidered on it filled with Disney theme snacks, we also had Minnie and Mickey cookies and a fruit bowl in the room. The other bonus to booking a signature suite is that the concierge arranges and books your vip seating for the parades and shows you wish to attend that day, we got to watch Fantasmic turning up 10 minutes before the show with seats and no bars to get in the way of our view, we also watched the paint the night parade with front hotel viewing which didn't have seats, but placed us right up front to sit on the ground watching the parade and getting great unobstructed pictures. The reason for docking one star was due to the television remote not working for the bathroom television, we had the cleaner report it at around 4:30pm and when we arrived back to the hotel at 11:30pm wanting to have a bath with music on we found that someone had come up to check as the remote had been moved (after the cleaner left) but had not been replaced and still wasn't working. I then spent 45 minutes waiting for maintenance to show up and had to call down twice and when they did they couldn't fix it. When you're paying this much money for a room everything in it should be checked every day and made sure it is working for the next guest. They offered us a small discount on the room, but it was more about the experience than the money of course (who wants to spend any of their birthday waiting for maintenance staff). Overall the bed was comfortable, the shower was the most powerful I have been in pressure-wise for soft water (it is also a steam shower you can switch on) and of course the Tinkerbell magic as you open the door and in the bathroom brought the Disney magic in a big way that made you extra excited to be there.

    Nice substitute for disneyworld

Ok folks if you can’t make it to Disneyworld, Disneyland is a nice substitute. It’s not nearly as large or as nice; but, it’s not bad. The food needs an overhaul as it’s high priced and mediocre at best. The Disneyland Hotel is kept very clean and you get a feeling of being fairly safe and secure. Downtown Disney is nothing like Disney springs in Florida; but, it has a few nice shops and places to dine. Sadly Rainforest Cafe and ESPN zone have closed in Disneyland. Service is OK. Doesn’t seem to have the same level of Magic per se as Disneyworld; but, I may be partial. The pool at Disneyland Hotel is wonderful. Great poolside furniture and they serve food and drinks. Overall I give it four out of five stars. It’s cool to know this was Walt’s Place. :)
