I am writing two reviews of week’s stay at the resort. This one is for the potential danger of crocodiles about 200 metres along the beach from the resort. I want to be clear that the lagoon where crocodiles live is not on the resort property but it is within easy reach and the access is unprotected because it is right beside the beach. This past week one of our group took the attached photo of what looks to be an 8-10 foot crocodile on the shore of the lagoon. There are warning signs at the lagoon about the potential danger of crocodiles but for various reasons, the area cannot be separated by some kind of barrier from the beach itself. I am posting this only as an additional warning so parents realize that the potential danger exists.

The staff are the big standout here. Incredible staff, very helpful. Our biggest issue was in the building we stayed in, none of the elevators worked. We looked at reviews going back for a year, and its been an issue for that long. Pool is good, not much beach to speak of. High tide comes up so high that they have to reset their beach area each day.

The club and star prestige staff are top notch. Emmanuel and Edgardo at the rooftop are superb. Beach and waves are stunning. Can walk for miles for beach walkers. Stunning views. Excellent food and service throughout.

Very nice resort. Food was good, the restaurants were all very good. The beach was very nice and had umbrellas available for the people who wanted them. Only one complaint about the pool waitress who was very rude, you should educate her that not everyone can drink around the pool because of health issues. she should not be talking down to people who arent drinking around the pool

We stayed at this “5-star resort” to celebrate our anniversary, and unfortunately, it was far from the experience we expected. When we arrived, they gave us a room with twin beds, even though we had clearly requested a different setup for our anniversary. They agreed to move us, but it took over 3 hours for the new room to be ready. When we finally got in, the room didn’t feel clean — there were still drink stains left on the table from the previous guests. On our 3rd day, things got even worse. We came back from the pool to shower and get ready for dinner, only to find out our room had no running water at all. After a long day in the pool, we couldn’t shower or get ready. The water didn’t come back on until 10am the next morning, which completely threw off our plans. It was also clear the resort is severely understaffed. By the pool, it took around 30 minutes just to get a drink each time. It wasn’t until our 5th day that we finally received good service from Yesenia, who really listened to our concerns and took great care of us. Adrian, the bartender by the pool, was also fantastic and consistently got drinks out quickly — they were the bright spots in our stay. To top it off, on the day we were leaving, while waiting for our transportation, my husband went inside to grab a coffee and was told we couldn’t order anything because we were “no longer guests.” We chose this resort because we’ve stayed at other Iberostar locations and always had great experiences. Sadly, this stay was extremely disappointing, especially since we were there to celebrate such a special occasion. We expected better quality, service, and basic hospitality from a place that claims to be 5-star.
