We had a great stay at Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort & Spa. We had a change in our trip a few weeks before our arrival due to Hurricane LaLa, and Reservations was able to accommodate our changes and we couldn't be happier! We had breakfast and dinner at Ocean House and we enjoyed the mix of local options and more classic offerings. The beachfront sunrise yoga was amazing!! There were people in the group that never did yoga before but still thoroughly enjoyed! We couldn't get late checkout but were able to store our bags so we could drive around the island more before our flight without worrying about them in the car. There was still construction in some areas at the resort, but it did not impact our stay at all! We will definitely be back in the future and can't wait to see the resort fully renovated!

We could write about the poor condition of the pools with cracked tiles and black marks around the tiles, we could write about the black hairs in the bathroom and dirt marks on the tiles that showed the room wasn't cleaned proerly or the renovations happening everywhere that make the resort someowhere that they really should shut down, fix then re open but that could have just been our experience and with time they might improve. What they cannot improve on is the appaling attitute of their staff. There are two main ladies that are on check in each day. One was rude and actually passive aggresive. When she had to say the speal of "Thank you for being a platinum member, we appreciate your loyalty", she actually scrunched up her face and said it with a grimace. The other lady spends her time not making eye contact with anyone, just typing at her computer no matter what the line is like. That was our first imression and it didn't get better. The staff in the lounge were equally unwelcoming and short with the way they take orders with a huff and don't give any welcoming feels at all. We had breakfast in the hotel's only opened restaurant (assume others closed during renovations) each morning as our package included a dining credit. The lady at the front desk was so full of attitude and didn't smile or give any sense of genuine welcome or aloha. She sat us at the back row table closest to the door (with little to no view) each morning even when the first morning we were first ones there at opening and each morning there were available tables front row with great views but then proceeded to sit people that appeared looks wise to be Hawaiian down where the view was. We weren't the only ones who experienced this. Other western tourist who were sat near us commented about the very distinct treatment and attitude of this lady. The 2 women who filled the water glasses were actually aggressive in their attitude. They wouldn't make eye contact with us, when we greeted them and said good morning we were ignored, They scowled and were very unhappy to be there. There was only one person in the whole property who was welcoming and respectful in her interactions, and actually showed any aloha/ hospitality. Her name was Jen Jen. I would never go back to this property that clearly does not want us there as tourists, and treats us with such distain. I would tell anyone thinking about going here- even if you have had wonderful Outrigger experiences and are loyal to Outrigger as we are, to look elsewhere. It is clearly something that is uniform in all the staff they have here. We stayed 4 nights and not one other staff member except Jen Jen showed us any respect or welcome.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Ocean House by Roy Yamaguchi. The Crispy Shrimp Sushi was a standout, with great flavor and texture, while the Pork-Shrimp-Crab Pillows were another favorite. We also enjoyed a dozen oysters on the half shell, which were fresh and beautifully presented. The combination of excellent seafood, creative dishes, and a relaxed island atmosphere made for a memorable evening. Definitely the best choice for dinner on the East Side of Kaua‘i.

Uncle Maka’s wife is awesome! As a beginner, she patiently guided me to learn 3 main chords which happened to be a happy birthday song! Now I can play birthday song with my ukulele (hidden in a closet over the years) to wow people ?? mahalo!

Enjoyed the view by the ocean. It was great to wake up and go to sleep to the sounds of the ocean. Also, Elsa was such a great housekeeper. She was very kind, humble, and attentive.
