Very Good Resort, good location directly at the ocean, few limitations

Great Resort with very friendly reception staff and service. Deluxe Ocean View Rooms with excellent and impressive view. However, private events limit availability of all offered and advertised services, mandatory resort fee (for needless services) result in intransparentes pricing and together with less welcoming bar staff stand in the way of a 5 Star review.
Best swim beach this side of island

The hotel is nice. Rooms are pricy but nothing special. The only nice rooms imho are the ocean view ocean front. Whatever you do, don’t get stuck across the street at the hotels timeshare area or garden view rooms. Totally disappointing. The hotel sits on one of the nicer swim beaches on the island on this side of island. Don’t expect luxury amenities. Does have nice gym. Breakfast restaurant is nothing special. Waiters could care less and it shows on their faces. Just a corporate job. Nothing special and food is very plain and unexciting. Especially after a week. Most of the rest of hotel staff were pleasant. Rooms plain. Pool was absolutely filthy most days. Cleared up each night. Boring pool for kids though. Beach was great. Waves might be hard for little kids. But we enjoyed. That’s about it.
It will be a while before we visit again, might pick a different Marriott?

This was our 3rd time staying here. It could use a refresh. Titanium Elite but we got the ocean front room that we paid for. No other upgrades. You get a few, minimal options for breakfast at the restaurant. Lots of families there. We enjoyed renting the cabanas on the beach and liked the food/drinks service available. We visited the Beach House, Rumfire, Koloa Pizza Bar & Kitchen, Mucho Aloha Brewhouse, Mura Izakaya, and Java Kai Coffee.
Overall very nice

Our room was fine and it was clean. Noise levels at night were higher than we would have liked, but it wasn't bad. The grounds are lovely and the pool is nice. The housekeeping was excellent and regular, which I do appreciate. We could have done without the attitude of the desk clerk when we dared to ask for directions. This is a largish complex and finding your way around is not always easy. The resort has lots of activities, but be warned that you need to sign up for these super early.
Tranquil, Beautiful, and Family Friendly

We stayed at the attached Villas property and used many of the amenities of the Resort itself. The complimentary classes and activities were an awesome surprise that our kids loved, the location was fantastic being right on the beach and super close to Old Koloa Town and other nearby beaches and sights, and overall we really loved the understated luxury feel of the property overall. Our only experience with Hawaiian resorts has been a huge resort in Waikiki, this resort felt like the complete opposite in all the best ways. It was mostly very quiet and peaceful, but still had plenty going on and also still felt appropriate and welcoming for people with kids. We also did the luau which was a huge highlight of our trip. My one piece of feedback that I do hope could be taken into consideration is to stay more on top of keeping the pool clean. It was windy and I’m giving people the benefit of the doubt that much of the trash that was floating in the pool has been blown in by the wind, and there was also a good amount of leaves and whatnot from the plants and trees, but my teenager wound up removing trash our second day in the pool because nobody else was. It definitely is an easily fixable issue, and it wasn’t detrimental to our stay by any means, but I’d love if we ever can come back, to not have to swim amongst plastic cups and debris in the pool. Overall we loved our stay at this resort and really do hope we get to return soon!
