Matachica Stay in Belize

Great place to relax, drink, food is incredible, fishing is incredible. Pool is awesome and has a hot tub. The suites are amazing and have private pool . The beach had some seaweed, but we got used to that quickly. Lenny and Julio will take care of your drinks and food request all day long!

Honeymooners Dream

They really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and welcome. From live music, to nightly baked cookies and turndown service, they think of every detail. The food was absolutely delicious and the room was more spacious than it seemed from the photos online.

From booking direct with the resort, it made the vacation from start to finish seamless. A few standouts that called us by name from the very first day even our nicknames?? Erchy Charlie Luca Moses Josue Edgar Chris Author and Keenan to name a few. We booked all of our excursions through your amazing staff. They are above and beyond in customer care. We felt so pampered and if they even heard you mention oh I would like this or that it suddenly appeared. We took all of the complimentary shuttles to the other parts of Belize and the boat and staff were always right there with you giving you such peace of mind. We always went back to the amazing food options at Matachica. We all would study the menu each night then plan our options so we could taste it all. I would 10/10 recommend this perfect little slice of heaven to anyone…We will absolutely be back and if you can, book Strawberry you will not be disappointed ????????????

More plusses than minuses, but there is real room for improvement.

First the positives: the property is beautiful; the rooms are very comfortable; the linens are soft; the shower is robust. The service can be excellent: a shout out to Cesare, Jennifer, Archi, Julio. Chris took us out on one of the best snorkeling expeditions we have ever had, and we have snorkeled all over the world. The rooms are of a good size. We very much enjoyed the captain's dinner and the snorkeling excursion. The negatives: the property is a long way from the town of San Pedro. It can take 40 minutes by golf cart to get to the center of town. The hotel does not recommend any golf cart rentors; nor has it arranged a set price with any rentors. They hand you a list of 20 options, and when you call, you get differing prices and some charge a pretty hefty fee to deliver the golf cart (up to 75 dollars on top of the rental price.) When we were there the property was being deluged by seaweed, which was not only ugly but it stank. While the property will take you to a beach on the other side of the island with no sea weed, this service is on a very fixed schedule (you will be taken there at 11 and picked up at 3). More regular shuttle service is a must. The person who took us to our room told us that the tap water was drinkable, but it is NOT. Nor did this person explain that the carafes of water had drinkable water. The staff generally is very helpful, but this one person almost ruined the experience for us. The property should consider handing out a short leaflet on water, wifi, etc. The property should also work out an arrangement with a golf cart renter with a preferred rate so that finding a renter does not seem like a taxing homework assignment.

A 10 out of 5. One word? CHILL Just what we were looking for. BEAUTIFUL! Beautiful pool, restaurant, rooms, grounds, service. 1000% emphatic YES! Worth every penny. They lit tiki torches at night, coffee and tea to your door in the morning, set cookies in our room at evening service, beautiful complimentary continental breakfast in the restaurant with fresh fruit, fresh juice of your choice, pastries, granola, fry jacks, home made toast. Service was top. Nothing remotely bad. Worse thing I can say is the wonderfully smelling eucalyptus soap in room took 3 pumps to come out. Infinity pool that looks to the ocean. You can take a complimentary kayak out to the reef and do world class smoking for free. Rent a golf cart and go up the beach to any of the wonderful little bars or restaurants. Or go down the road to Comida Rey’s for a strong drink and pizza (we preferred the Cuban). Charter/tour shops are cheaper to rent from than the hotel but few pick up this far north so you need a golf cart. They took us out on complimentary day excursions. Drinks were beautiful! (But low alcohol and very pricy) Pool side service was impeccable and the ceviche was AMAZING. Quiet, birds chirping in the morning, super nice staff. AC was fine no issues.
