expensive for what it was.

An OK hotel, that cost far too much. But, you're paying for the location. Clean and tidy and with helpful staff. Breakfast wasnt anything to get excited about. If you need somewhere to stay then I dont have any complaints about this place.

Great hotel and location

GlobetrotterBella (San Antonio, Texas) on Sep 06, 2023

Pros: Easy check in Free Parking Wood floors in room Cookies and water in the lobby Free breakfast Laundry room You can rent bear spray for free Fireplace in room 25-30 min from Banff town Cons: The fridge didn't cool well Thin walls The pillows are small and uncomfortable. Arrived via a rental car. Check in was easy. The front desk staff was super friendly. The room: I love that they don’t have carpet because it seems cleaner. The room was big. It had two beds. The bedding was nice. we got a free bottle of wine because we booked the room with Expedia. The restroom was clean and spacious. The toiletries offered were great. The soaps were from a local company. Our room had a small fridge and a Keurig. The fridge didn’t cool that well. We did go to go to breakfast a few times. It’s a typical continental breakfast. There were days where they had breakfast potatoes versus hashbrowns. They always had scrambled eggs and a protein. Bagels and toast were available as well. They had a fruit salad, but it was too vinegary for me. I don’t know if they use lime or vinegar to keep the fruit from browning. I would have appreciated fresh fruit instead. In the lobby, you can find water or tea throughout the day. In the afternoons they also put out the best chocolate chip cookies. I really appreciated those cookies after a long hike. I didn’t try out their pool, but it looked fun. I did use their laundry facilities. It was $1.25 for washer and $1.25 for the dryer. You do need coins. the front desk cab exchange bills for you. Parking was on site and free. We never had a problem getting a parking spot arriving around 8 PM at night. Extras: The rent out bear spray for free

Great anniversary stay!

budsfan29 (Vaughan, Canada) on Aug 16, 2023

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. Even though the hotel was filled with families, we still had a great stay. We had a very spacious and comfortable room on the fourth floor with a private balcony facing the mountains. It also had a large cupboard, small fridge, and microwave. The washroom was large too, with a shower and jacuzzi tub The king-size bed was very comfortable. The only slight issue was keeping the room from being too hot or cold. The location is excellent, close to the highway, and a short drive into downtown. There is plenty of parking, and they offer cookies to greet you in the lobby. The customer service was friendly and helpful, and we took advantage of borrowing bear spray for free upon its return unused. The breakfast had a nice selection, with good coffee with the option of using a mug or takeout cup. However, it was very crowded especially on the weekend. The staff did clean the tables and replenished food quickly. We didn't use the pool or waterside, but families seemed to be enjoying it. We would definitely consider returning to the Pocaterra Inn on a future visit to Canmore.

Looks Can Be Deceiving at the Pocaterra Inn

ArtBrodsky (Olney, MD) on Aug 09, 2023

I confess, when we first drove up to the Pocaterra, we weren't impressed by what we saw from the outside. Looks can be deceiving, as this is one of the best places at which we have stayed. The excllent staff is friendly and helpful. The room was excellent, with a very comfy bed and great pillows. The breakfast included in the rate is good for families with young children (which we are not) because it's sort of slapdash -- nice coffee, occasionally cold waffles, decent scrambled eggs. Adults wanting something a bit more tasty can find something else around town. It's also conveniently located near downtown Canmore. The only problem getting there is turning left onto the two-lane road. On the other hand, you are on the right side of the street to get up to Banff and Lake Louise. Only two items that kept me from five stars. 1. For a decent-sized place, the parking lot can fill up, leaving you scrambling to find parking elsewhere. 2. There is only one elevator. Other than that, the establishment is very good and I recommend it.
