Wannabe Westin

This property is interesting... I have stayed in quite a few Westin properties as we are Vistana and MVC owners. This property is not typical Westin. I usually rate them EXCELLENT. The grounds at this Cape Coral Westin are lovely and check-in was quick and easy. I booked a 2 bdrm villa with washer/dryer and was given unit 1304 with a Marina View. The elevators were not clean. There is rust on most metal surfaces. The unit was huge, but not especially clean. The refrigerator handles were extremely dirty (picture below). The two sliders were full of handprints and smudges. (pictures below) The humidity drips on the outside of the windows/sliders but these were not cleaned prior to our checking in. There was no laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid or sponge. These things are normally in a 2 bdrm Westin villa. No Shower cap or anything in either bathroom but soap and a tiny lotion. Again, not typical of a Westin property. My unit was missing kitchen utensils and glassware. It was all a bit disappointing for the money I paid expecting a Westin quality stay. Two daily bottled waters left by housekeeping was a nice perk. I had to call for a spatula! Really? Housekeeping did come daily as long as you did not stay in your room after 4pm when they are off. Marker 92 was a lovely restaurant on the property. I had room service the first night and we ate breakfast there two times, and tried their Happy Hour, and their Mahi, Mahi Tacos and Florida Salad were fabulous! Do not miss scheduling a free ride on the Tarpon Point Marina Catamaran to the Beach at Fort Myers at the front desk. Lots of cool restaurants and bars very close to where the boat docks and the ride there and back is lovely and the two gentlemen who ran the catamaran were fun and full of history/information regarding the area. They work for tips! We ate at nearby Pinchers for my friend's birthday lunch. They gifted her with a free $16 dessert. Drinks there were really special. It is a short walk from the Westin Lobby. There are a number of restaurants and stores waterfront. We did not rent a car. We taxied from airport and took Ubers a couple times when we did leave the property. This property is very relaxing. Looking out at the marina was like being on a cruise ship looking out at the sea. The villa was massive with tons of storage space. The A/C was fabulous and the beds very comfortable. I did wish there was a spa tub in the unit. I bathed once in the tub in the second bathroom, and it was too small really enjoy. There is a spa on the second story of the building next door we visited. Esterra Spa and Salon had reasonably priced services. I had an hour massage, and my friend had a pedicure she was very pleased with. You cannot charge services to your room!*** There is a small coffee machine in the room with the plastic trays and Starbucks coffee that is convenient, but I walked down to the lobby each morning for the much better coffee available starting at 6am I believe. It was very good (free) coffee, and I managed to juggle 3 cups back to the room. I guess I could have brought a plate from the room to carry them back easier, but I took my chances and practiced balancing them. We did take an Uber to the Murder Mystery Dinner Train in Fort Myers. It was a fun 3+ hours and dinner was quite impressive and filling! Chicken, Salmon or a sizable Prime Rib were the entrees to choose from. Visit Semgulf.com for more info. Overall, our vacation in Cape Coral was peaceful and memorable. I would just suggest that housekeeping up their game and actually supply the kitchens with all that should be in a Westin kitchen.
Dirty and Personal Items Disappeared

Would never return to this hotel! The location is nice, being in the marina with the restaurants is certainly a nice feel but the resort needs a lot of improvement. The main areas are not kept well and dirty. The room was not cleaned properly at all and the floors and HVAC vents were actually disgusting. The floors have not been cleaned properly in a very long time as there is literaly dirt caked on it. I took a towel with a little water and wiped it and it came up so dirty. I would not suggest coming here if you like a clean well cared for room. To top it off we believe some strange staff member took our daughters blanket and 2 of her stuffed Beanies, we left them back in the room when we went out to dinner and when we came back we couldn't find them. We were beyond puzzled, the next morning we called the hotel to also ask them to check to see if house keeping was in the room at all and if they could find it and they told us no one went in and they searched the whole room and didn't find them. So where did these items go since they were left in the room alone, the only thing that makes sense is someone came into the room and took them. This place is such a waste of a location since it could be an amazing hotel but just not being managed properly.
Wonderful vacation spot

We had a great stay here. The pool was so warm. The suite was beautiful, clean with great views. Staff on site were super friendly and engaging. There was a lot to do on-site and stores were really close.
Good Not Great

This is a beautiful hotel with a nice harbor and great views. The staff is friendly and the room layouts are top notch. Bedding was super. Super clean rooms and a nice balcony. For the price paid, I expect to see some things better executed. The dish ware almost seemed like it was requisitioned from a KOA cabin. Two spoons, three forks, six butter knives, three mis matched tiny coffee cups. Cheap one cup coffee maker. Cheap cheap cheap toilet paper. Most disappointing was two nights music at the bar went on till the very early morning hours and it was loud. 2am one night and 3am the second. The staff stated they didn’t follow directions in the timing but why didn’t the staff have them cut it off. They received many complaints and offered a token 20k points. It really impacted our sleep and trip as we had early morning tours.
Ripped off….Westin/Marriott clean up this behaviour!

We walked to the Marina on a lovely Sunday afternoon and decided to have two beers at the Nauti Mermaid. I didn’t have my readers with me and therefore just signed the check at the bar. No table service. Next thing I check my account and they charged $50 for 2 x Miller draft. It’s not the money it’s the principal. I am a Marriott Bonvey member who stays away on business at least 50 days per annum this behaviour will make me think twice about which hotel chain I book with.
