Outstanding experience

N3498MEmattg (Charleston, South Carolina) on Jul 01, 2022

My fiancee and I came down to Cape Coral to look at wedding venues for our upcoming nuptials. We were so happy we chose to stay at the Westin Cape Coral for the weekend. It's just an outstanding property and the staff are all first class. From our experience with the carhop, to the check-in, housekeeping, and waitstaff in the restaurant... this was one of the best trips we have taken. Our room was absolutely awesome- it overlooked the marina and bay. Food at the restaurants far exceeded our expectations- (get the eggs and spicy tomato stew!) better than most hotel food we've eaten. We travel a lot, and this experience stood out to us as one of the best trips ever. We will definitely come back as this was a five-star experience.

A beautiful resort but inflexible, inhospitable junior staff

peterdP3908QE on Jun 24, 2022

We have just moved to Florida and needed a night before moving into our home. I am a Marriott Ambassador and my Wife a Titanium, for what that’s worth. We called in advance and got a suite upgrade, which we appreciated. But downhill from there. The property is far from everything else in Cape Coral - when you’re there, you’re there. Dinner at Pinschers, at their marina, was bland and tasteless, yet expensive. Seemed more like a sports bar rather than having good food. We didn’t get to the room until pretty late. We had a lot of luggage and were tired. Alejandro of the bell staff was very helpful. In the morning I requested a late checkout. I was told that they weren’t allowed, but she’d be “nice to me” and let me have an hour. My experience has been that when someone sats that to me, they’re not being especially nice. I’m usually politely give 3-4 hours and thanked for my (considerable) loyalty to Marriott (including the house we’re renting nearby). Ok. Around 11:30 I go downstairs to seek some luggage help. No bellmen. Not even luggage carts (and I saw MANY people hauling their own luggage in the 95 degree heat while I was there). So I dragged a bunch of heavy luggage without a cart, in the heat myself. It wasn’t pleasant, and none of the staff I passed in the halls and elevator offered to help in any way. Packed and ready to go, I hand over my two drink chits, asking for a soda and water (95 degree heat, remember). I had been told this would be fine an hour earlier. The young lady said, “no you can’t do this, you need to go to the bar, yadda, yadda. And I was asked “who had told me this”. I smiled, thanked her and told her she could keep the coupons, and left. So, given the bum’s rush and told they were being nice. No help with luggage. And arm-wrestling over a soda and water. Not a quality experience. The staff seem young and perhaps not all that well trained. I spend a LOT with Marriott and have been offered equal status at other hotels. When I make the rare, simple request, I appreciate that this is recognized. I understand that this resort deals with many tourists, treats them anonymously, and it’s about heads in beds and moving bodies. They don’t need or particularly care about us. Do they need to make you feel that way too? But it is called the HOSPITALITY industry for a reason. I have stayed in many fine hotels around the world, and honestly, this was about as far from a top experience as I’ve had. So thank you for the upgrade, but the rest, not so much. I’m giving an average rating because “I’m being nice”, but it was worse than that.

An Incredible, First-Class Escape

DBAmber (Bartlett, Illinois) on Jun 20, 2022

I'm a writer, and there simply are not enough words to express the incredible experience at this hotel except - SPECTACULAR!! The staff was amazing from Israel at check in, maid service, and all of the restaurants' staff. The pool was very nice, towels provided, lounge chairs and cabanas on first-come basis. In fact, the staff is so welcoming that I even ran into the General Manager, Barry Kadel, twice during my stay - in the elevator and in the bar as he was helping a bar keeper on a matter. Then, he offered me his card for any comments or questions. Such genuine people. There's also a great sunset cruise (Silver King) to take right at the marina pier at the hotel. $40/pp for 2 hours. Loved seeing the dophins play. This is the gem you should not miss.

Stunning views; lousy breakfast

263allent (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Jun 20, 2022

5 star views; 5 star rooms; the staff was kind and thoughtful. 4 star gym as it wasn’t complete. Better than a Courtyard, but not resort quality 2 for breakfast. Hard to swallow paying a resort fee and holding g high tier status and only get orange juice and a sugary pastry for breakfast. Budget hotels offer a better breakfast. A real disappointment. We would probably let come back given the comfortable rooms and stunning views, but getting hit with fees and getting little in return always leaves a bad taste.

OK food Ok service

Juliathe4everbaker on Jun 16, 2022

The food here was ok. There breakfast was not the best there pastries were dry and lacked flavor. They did not have many options for breakfast. Overall I would not take the breakfast again. On the other hand there lunch and dinner was amazing the salmon was delicious and the bruschetta was to die for. I recommend if you come to the naughty mermaid you come for lunch and dinner. The place was a little dirty once we came but we got that cleaned up in no time. This place was ok but I’m sure there are other places around that would me better.
