In all my years of solo travelling, I have never been treated so poorly as I was here. I had booked a 14 day all-inclusive stay-my first here but not in Huatulco. I ended up getting very sick with a cold I likely caught at home. I had a fever, was faint and couldn’t make it down the considerable distance on a very long and steep ramp to the restaurant. I was ignored by staff for the most part (I speak Spanish and English) and when I asked for help was insulted verbally in Spanish by a staff member so much so that I packed my bags and checked out 8 days early. There was no manager to talk to and a refund was refused for my unused time. There were no repercussions for the staff that I know of and the booking agency I used was unable to successfully contact the property or a manager. I had to book another 8 days at a different (and amazing) place in town where I have stayed before at considerable cost and when I explained that I was unwell, they went above and beyond to help me and made sure I was safe and had what I needed. Aside for this, the inaccessibility of the beach, lack of access to actually clean drinking water, poor repair of the pool, equipment and buffet, I likely would have roughed it out but not returned. If you have any mobility or health issues pre-existing or while you are there, you will need to take a taxi into town for basic help. People with mobility issues won’t be able to safely access the beach or pool area and there is no assistance offered from the staff. If you do make it to the beach, the view is lovely but the pictures online are deceiving.
Happily surprised.

We are very impressed by this hotel. Rooms were nice, showers were clean. Staff was friendly. Food was very good. Very quiet resort if you like that. There is a lot of walking up and down a long ramp to go to the pool and restaurant so just be aware of that. The ocean was limited for swimming and a short beach. Very easy to catch a taxi to town and back again for 60 pesos one way. I
Gorgeous!

GORGEOUS! This place is beautiful and the vista’s are spectacular. It’s on the verge of being a tremendous destination for relaxation. There is no tooth rattling music playing all day, there is no entertainment staff trying to drag you into things you don’t want to do, there is a quiet adult infinity pool with shady areas a good distance away from the kids pool, the rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. The food is varied and plentiful. They are relatively new to the all-inclusive world and are still working out the small details and are very receptive to input. The General Manager, Sylvia is very approachable and spends a lot of time around the facility - we watched as she checked the quality and quantity on the buffet and spent time in the kitchen itself as well as speaking with guests. The facility can be challenging for any with mobility issues as the shuttle runs at rather unpredictable times and it can be a long uphill or downhill walk from the restaurant/pool/beach area as it is some distance from the rooms. I believe they will likely have this sorted soon with a more consistent shuttle service. There are 2 accessible beaches on the resort for those who prefer the sand and really only one for access into the water. There are a lot of rocks in this area so only one of the bays is conducive to swimming, snorkeling or kayaking. The staff are all very approachable and will help in any way they can. We really only had a few things that concerned us at all – there wasn’t side bacon for breakfast – that’s more of a me problem (they did have back bacon available after I mentioned it to Sylvia) and the bar doesn’t open until noon, as well, Canadians like their beer cold and I did notice the keg fridge temperature did get turned down a few degrees a couple days before we left. We found the wifi spotty but I think that’s a Mexico thing. All in all, if you are looking for a comfortable, quiet, reasonably priced place to relax for a week or 2 or even 3, I would certainly recommend this.
Growing pains, but still good.

Let me say before getting into the pros and cons, this hotel seems to be going through a transition over to all inclusive, which I think will solve many of the issues mentioned. PROS: The staff! Wow, all staff were fantastic! From the waiters, to the cleaners, to the front desk, to even the gardeners, all looked invested in the property. It truly showed everyone here wanted you to have the best experience possible. The view here also exceeded our expectations. We had a partial ocean view room, and it was more than good enough…amazing sunrises every morning. The proximity to great, underrated beaches was also another positive. The hotel beach in my opinion is underrated. Some reviews here say it’s rocky and not swimmable. I disagree. It’s an amazing beach, quiet, great sand, and even decent snorkelling. Loved how it always felt secluded…I wouldn’t change a think….maybe more chairs with sun covers? Another favourite was Tajon Beach, only a 15 min walk away. Some other small positives that didn’t go unnoticed…great shower pressure, good quality towels, comfortable bed (though oddly short if you are even a little tall), everything here is quite clean (you see staff always cleaning throughout the day), pool was great, lots of great hang out areas. Breakfast buffet every morning was also good! Last, I appreciate the efforts made to always improve. You can see they are making upgrades (pool access from hotel), or tweaking things to appease the guests reviews…thank you! NEGATIVES: Ok, aside from them going all inclusive, we were on a free breakfast plan, so we found the meals after this frustrating. Menus were odd, overpriced, small selection, inconsistent. Because the hotel is a taxi drive away from town, it sometimes felt they knew they got you, so they would overcharge these meals. Their NYE party buffet is 2280 pesos! That is a bit of a grab. We could easily go to town and pay 1/3 that. We also had undercooked fish, 1 of our 2 pizzas was cold and undercooked, and we had a plain salad for 210 pesos! This is all moot though if you get the all-inclusive plan now…which would make the experience better. The margaritas we had also were too sweet, could be better. Another issue for us was the room in general. This entire resort has white lights. It needs more warm/soft lighting, especially in the room!! It was harsh to be around, and I personally feel international travellers would much prefer this. The room had a very sterile feel to it. Needs some art or something to make it feel cozier. Wifi…VERY spotty. In the room it never worked, but on the balcony, it did. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. We feel this hotel has potential with some small changes or refinements.
If you are not looking for complete solitude or traveling with a huge group forgetta bout it!!

This hotel is clean and in a beautiful setting. However the restaurant and beach are down a steep incline with a good-sized walk and there is a shuttle which is difficult to climb up on. There are no shops near you need to take a taxi into town and there is hardly anyone eating there. If you have the least bit of mobility issues the beach is difficult to get to.
