Lowest quality food possible and irritating strict mask enforcement makes you feel like you are staying at the airport.

This was one of the worst vacations I’ve had that are all inclusive resort. I will describe in detail what the problems were and what some of the good things about the hotel are.
-Nice fitness center
-Easy to get around
-Good cold beer.
-Proper temperatures for food.
-The most hideous low quality food I’ve ever had at all-inclusive resort. No beef, white meat chicken breast, guacamole, etc.
-No authentic Mexican food.
-Too strict mask enforcement makes me feel like I am lodging at the airport. Very disturbing and irritating.
-Way too many kids! Terrible!
-No adult section of pool! Disgrace.
-Cheap in quantity of water bottles in the room. Water is extremely important.
I was so excited to get home and eat normal, high-quality healthy food. This was one of the worst vacations I’ve ever had.

Yearly family vacation and this is my first time at the holiday and the service has been spectacular. I am traveling with 2 elderly people and everyone is super helpful on top of being very hospitable! The drink service is in point always checking on drinks! Highly recommended would recommend the Holiday Inn!
Great beach, but so busy!

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn from Feb. 2-16, 2022. This was not our first stay at this hotel, but it was certainly had a different feel than our past visits. Let me start by saying that Carlos H., the waiter on the beach, keeps us coming back. He is personable, always ready to give advice or recommendations, and makes everyone feel welcome and well taken care of. He makes you feel like he is sincerely a friend.
Adan, a waiter at a restaurant, also stood out because we like pico de gallo, and after one day of ordering it, made sure to make some fresh for our table when he saw us coming. Every single staff member goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The only staff that weren't as friendly or helpful were the women at the front desk. The men working at the front desk were always friendly and tried to help and I always tried to make my contact with them.
The difference between this stay and others...the amount of guests and noise. I understand that there is a difference between the type of vacation you want when you are coming from below zero temps for two weeks vs. arriving for two nights for a wedding celebration or a weekend of fun. One group is looking for relaxation and the other is looking to loudly party until five a.m., leave their garbage everywhere, and then party all day drinking in the pool without ever getting out. (The chlorine had to work overtime. I have never been so happy to be a beach lover.) I understand the different types of vacationers, but this was excessive and not what we had expected compared to our past stays. Between the weddings and up to four busloads of guests showing up every other day, there was no respite for the staff or other guests looking for relaxation. I get it. In these days of covid, you need to fill the rooms any and every way that you can, but this was not the same hotel I have stayed at in the past.
While we all had a good time and the beach is absolutely gorgeous, Carlos would be the deciding factor why we would return to the Holiday Inn versus going back to the Park Royal, where relaxation seemed to be more of the goal for guests.
Lovely location, some minor issues
Feb 23, 2022
I have been to this hotel at least 7 times and have always found the staff to be extremely helpful, friendly and wonderful and for the desk staff to speak at least basic English. They now appear to be catering more to the vacationers from other parts of Mexico as only 1 staff member at the desk could speak fluent English. I realize that when in Mexico one should speak Spanish, and I do at a very elementary level; but, this is a resort town that used to cater to US and Canadian citizens. That was not the case on this trip. I had an issue with my luggage that was essentially ignored for nearly a week. When I was given a phone number for the taxi service the person there did not speak English and the staff was reluctant to assist, and at times I found them to be rude. It all worked out fine and much of the trip was lovely as ever. The entertainment staff was wonderful as always. A special shout out to Cleofus the towel guy who is one of the kindest, sweetest people you will ever meet, to Carlos at the pool bar and the cleaning staff who were all amazing. I will give this hotel another chance, chalk up the less-than-stellar food and other issues to COVID.
We were so happy to have met Victor from IxtaZihua Tours. He and his crew were very helpful booking our excursions.

This is our 3rd time staying at the Holiday Inn. We were very happy to have met Victor and his crew from IxtaZihua Tours, they booked our tours and PCR tests (at better prices than our rep) they make sure everything goes smoothly and are there to welcome you when you return. You will find him in the lobby every day.
However, the resort atmosphere has changed since we were there last. Breakfast was awesome, lunches were average, the evening meal was repetitive and cold. There was only one À la cart during our stay, it was very good. The resort was very busy, the pools were full of families, which is awesome, however I feel that one of the pools should be adult only.
The resort is in a great location, the beach is amazing and of course you cannot beat the beautiful sunsets. We recommend the Sunset Cruise (talk to Victor) The resort is walking distance to shopping and restaurant’s. We love Ixtapa, but may try a different resort on our next visit.
