Unexpected upgrade

Jane G (Emsworth, United Kingdom) on Sep 09, 2026

After an exhausting drive to get here, we were pleased to learn that our de luxe room had been upgraded to a three storey villa, with its own section of beach and private parking. (Parking is definitely an issue at the hotel.) The villa was very well equipped, and had two bathrooms with bath and shower plus three toilets, and a fully fitted kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the view from the windows and patio doors delightful. The first evening we ate in the hotel’s restaurant, Maestro’s, which serves Mediterranean cuisine. We arrived at 7.15pm and ordered promptly – just pizza for me and lobster pasta for my husband. Then we waited… and waited… while others were served before us, etc. Forty minutes passed, and then we accosted our waiter, who got quite emotional and declared it was all his fault! Anyway, he did put things right by offering us complimentary desserts, which we accepted graciously. Breakfast was in the neighbouring hotel, the Eldorado; we had the continental breakfast, which consisted of fresh fruit, smashed avocado on toast, croissant with jam, and no fewer than THREE cakes – apple Danish, fruit load and muffin, all tooth-rottingly sweet. We are not used to this amount of sugar in everything. Service was friendly and reasonably prompt.

Accounting System Wrecked the Experience

Dick H (Hilton Head, South Carolina) on Aug 26, 2026

While I would ordinarily have given a 5-star review here, the completely unacceptable experience with the hotel's holds on my credit card mean that we will never go back. There are lots of equally-good alternatives in the Kelowna area. Despite pre-paying for a 6-day stay-and-play golf package, the hotel added daily holds totaling over $2,000 to my credit card. Even now, 2 days after checking out and settling the room charges for drinks and meals, the holds remain. I complained at the front desk each day, and was told this was an error and would be corrected, but it never was.

Amazing location on the water

helpfultraveller99 (Kelowna, Canada) on Aug 25, 2026

Went to Maestro‘s at Manteo, the restaurant on the patio. It is absolutely beautiful with the lake right there and all the flowers & the fountain. Living in Kelowna, I have a lot of visitors and they all want to go there, which I understand, but having to go there often myself I find the menu very unacceptable. I wish they would change it. I end up having the margarita pizza every time, but it is good. Besides the outstanding patio, I have to comment on the good service we had with Mia. She was exceptional.

Good for a short break.

londub77 (London) on Aug 24, 2026

Not the most soulful hotel but perfectly good for a few nights. Bathroom impossibly small, and shower splashed water everywhere despite best efforts - annoying. Food in restaurant good, staff friendly and knowledgeable about wine. However it’s very expensive. Pool disappointing. There was a wedding there the night we were there and we didn’t hear a peep which was impressive.

Good Property, But the Rooms Need Work

Dan A on Jul 22, 2026

We made a last-minute stop in Kelowna for the night before heading home. Unfortunately, it didn't get off to the best start. When we arrived, there wasn't a single parking spot available. About half the parking lot was blocked by a broken-down vehicle waiting for a tow. I understand that's not the hotel's fault, but I was told I could only stay in the loading zone while unloading, even though there was nowhere else to park. Once we got to our room, we found the air conditioner was unbelievably loud. It sounded like a diesel truck running in the room, and it actually made the bed vibrate. I asked the front desk if we could switch rooms, but they said maintenance would come instead. It would have been nice if moving us had at least been offered. The boardwalk is also closed right now. That's obviously not the resort's fault either, but it would have been nice to know before we arrived. The restaurants were very good, and the property itself is nice. Overall, though, the rooms feel like they need some attention. If those issues were addressed, I'd definitely consider staying again, but for now I'm not sure I'd be back.
