The location of this “resort” is great. Close to beaches and things to do. Unfortunately, it is misrepresented online and we were in a “home” that was quite old and not updated with no AC. The smoke alarm was chirping at night, the master bed and pillows were not comfortable, the master bath was not updated - the jet tub was broken and the shower was very small. Overall, the place was “serviceable” but certainly not nice and comfort was lacking. It is maybe difficult to showcase all the options in a “resort” through an online booking tool, however, the place we got was not what we expected. Did it work, yes. Was it big, yes. Did it have the appropriate number of baths and beds, yes. However, there was no indication we would have no AC, chirping smoke alarm, leaking windows, really old outdated kitchens and baths. Overall, did it impact our enjoyment of the area…not really. It’s a great location. I just felt the listing was not honest.

Be very careful. During my stay I was charged a mandatory $180 cleaning fee that was never disclosed at booking, does not appear in my confirmation, and was not mentioned at check-in. I provided proof, but the hotel still applied the charge and pushed responsibility to the travel agency instead of taking accountability. As of May 12, 2025, U.S. law (FTC Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees) prohibits undisclosed mandatory fees in lodging. This situation wasted a lot of time and energy during my vacation and seriously affected the experience. Ask for a full written breakdown of all fees before booking.

The property itself was nice and clean but the the mandatory fees while check-in was more than 50% of what I payed on the portal. To be fair, I do not know if this is an issue with the portal I booked through or the hotel but these fees should have been disclosed in the confirmation email either by the portal or the hotel but they weren't. If I knew the fees would be so high, I wouldn't have booked here. On top of that, we were provided only one packet of coffee for 4 days and charged $3 for another one which rubbed the wrong way. If you are booking here, please check for any hidden/junk fees upon check-in.

We paid roughly $850.00 in advance for a short stay at the Aston at Poipu Kai Kauai. When we arrived we were given a bill for an addition al $462.00. This included a $25.00 per day resort fee, other charges and half a dozen different taxes. Best of all there was a $180 cleaning fee that was completely undisclosed on the Aston's website, in phone communictions with their Rep or in their written materials. The ONLY place it came up was on our bill at arrival. Since the condo wasn't totally clean to begin with, and because the Aston does not do laundry or offer any room cleaning over the entire course of your stay (i.e., wash your own towels and make your own bed) this cleaning fee belongs in the category of surreal.

Lovely property. Condo was neat & clean except the tile floor was obviously not damp-mopped between occupancies. We had an upper level view of the ocean. So tranquil there compared to O’ahu! All appliances worked well. The bed was very comfy. Bathroom & shower nice as were the toiletries. Plenty of restaurants close by. Not right on the beach but we didn’t care. Had our own assigned parking spot. We will probably stay here again in 2025.
