Old Furnishings

ChrisJ2765 on Jun 20, 2021

Our overall experience was great. The view from the oceanfront unit (G406) was spectacular, the condo was nicely appointed with updated kitchen and bathrooms, beach access was superb, the pool is great for young children and the staff was friendly and professional. That was the good, here is the bad. Our unit G406 has old furnishings which were not comfortable to say the least, the sofa sleeper was not usable as a pullout. The mattress was so lod you could feel every spring and due to the humidity you could see the rusting from the springs, the couch dipped to the back and was uncomfortable to sit on without the help of extra pillows from the bedroom. The sitting chairs weren't to bad just old, the beds in both rooms were used to the point that when laying on the mattresses there were valleys not simple indents where previous people had slept but actual cavernous valleys limiting where one could actually sleep. I wrote outrigger who manages this property and was told there was nothing they could do for my family due to the resorts capacity which I understand. The manager then went on to embarrass himself by offering a $100 dollar credit for the issues which doesn't even pay for a dinner on the town which I found to be disrespectful. Overall the resort is good but I would not stay there again or recommend to friends or families.

Great place to stay and great value.

Great location. Certainly located in Kapaa. Easy to get around the island. The room was extremely clean and what a view of the mountains. Staff was friendly and stayed out of your way. My family and I loved the place. I would absolutely stay there again.

Loved the location but please reserve a rental car NOW!

My husband, myself and our two kids (10 and 15) had an amazing time! We rented a private unit through Airbnb. The location of the resort is perfect for getting around the island and there are some shops and a grocery store right near by. We got a unit that was not pool or beach view and we found it to be so quiet! We had two bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The layout was different but worked great! We had three toilets, 2 showers and 2 bathtubs. We could have 3 people taking a bath/shower at the same time in private. The pool is great, but it doesn't open until 10 which seems late to me. The towels are a little bit of a hassle as well. There were several times the towel staff were gone and no one could assist you, so you just had to wait. Beach was pretty, but since there were not chairs and the pool was so nice we really stayed at the pool. Please get a rental car as soon as you book. They book out at 1-2 months at the time of writing this. Turo is a great resource in addition to the usual places. We did a helicopter tour with Jack Harter and I can not say enough great things! If this is the one thing you do, do it!! We also did the Smith Family Luau and loved it! Food was amazing, show great and price right! We did a snorkel trip with Kauai snorkel tours and it was great too! We also did the secret falls hike and I would not try this unless you have tennis shoes or Teva's. It was so muddy that doing the trail in plain flip flops was a little miserable. We drove over to multiple waterfalls and beaches and it was wonderful! We went to anihi beach and our kids saw a turtle while swimming! Kauai.com is a great resource. Walgreens ID Now test is the way to go! Free test and we had results in a few hours time. Tests need to be done 72 hours before the flight from mainland to the island. You will love Kauai! Feel free to message me if you have specific questions!

A good experience (but be aware of possible add on costs)

Ok, first serious trip since Covid lockdown and first time to Kauai. Traveled solo to attend a wedding. I booked a six night stay through American Airlines Vacations. The room (E402) was fine. It was an end unit studio on the fourth floor with a partial view of the ocean. It was clean, the air conditioning worked well (particularly in tandem with the ceiling fan) and the bed was comfortable. There was a mini-fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave. No utensils or plates (contrary to the booking info) but they did provide paper towels. There is also a small lanai with a table and chairs. Check in went relatively smoothly and the receptionist (Lani?) turned out to be super helpful (and friendly) throughout my stay. The concierge (Karen?) was also charming. In general the facility and grounds were well kept and the location of the resort is convenient. It is right across from a small shopping area with a Safeway and some shops - and a good cafe (Coconut's Fish Cafe). You can also jump on the bike path and enjoy a beautiful ride or walk up the coast. The hotel beach was was pretty (pic uploaded). I wasn't too crazy about the pool because it seemed to be geared to kids and parents. I went down to cool off after a hike and felt awkward standing around surrounded by toddlers and attending adults. Nonetheless it would be a great pool if you were a kid. There were nice lounging areas though if you just wanted to sit outside The air conditioned gym was a big plus with some good equipment. Renting a beach cruiser or snorkeling equipment is reasonable and easy to do. My only real reservation was the combination of the resort fee ($26 a day plus tax) and the cleaning charge ($229 plus tax - only cleaned on departure). AA disclosed the add on charges so I guess I was in denial about what they would add up to but being charged an extra $426 on arrival was disconcerting. Resort fees/add ons are definitely becoming "a thing" and I need to start being better about factoring the extras into the quoted cost of the vacation. Anyway, I could see how this would be a good place for a family and I had a good experience overall. Kauai, of course, is extraordinary.

I loved my room!

cheche5471 on Jun 07, 2021

We loved our room! We had 2 bedrooms and a living room. Flat screen tvs in all of them. It was clean and had all the necessities such as extra tissue and toilet paper. I loved that we had a fully stocked kitchen. It made is possible for us to save money going out to eat. I loved having a washer and dryer to clean our beachwear often. I loved the decor and it looked like the room was well maintained. The outside of the resort is beautilful also. The landscaping, pool area, and being right on the beach was amazing. I loved that the resort was close to Safeway and other businesses like Starbucks and ABC stores. All the employess we came into contact with were very friendly and respectful. It is a great resort especially for families.
