Reviews
Amazing Staff, Great Experience
heat912 (Lethbridge, Alberta) on Jan 26, 2023
Short review (keep reading for longer review): My husband and I had a great time at this resort. We went for a belated honeymoon in January of 2023. The place is clean, the food is very good, the staff is amazing! It’s a fairly quiet resort (even when busy) and the partiers are minimal. I would go again and I would recommend it to friends and family. Rooms: We had an island view king room on the 7th floor (aka the cheapest room category) – the bedroom portion was very spacious and bright. We were in the corner, so had a decent view of the beach. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was very small, and as most others have indicated, yes there is a bit of rust in the bathtub. But who cares? The room was always clean and the cleaning staff was extremely pleasant and went out of their way. We made sure to tip as well, as you could tell they appreciated it. Tipping was NEVER mandatory anywhere in the resort, nor did you feel obligated to do so in order to get decent service. You truly WANTED to tip. We opted not to upgrade to a balcony, and honestly, I don’t think we missed out on anything. The only real difference (other than the balcony itself) is you get a mini bar. We always stocked up on drinks at the lobby bar before we went upstairs for the night though. Bars/Drinks: There are only two bars – poolside from 10:00am-6:00pm and in the lobby from 6:00pm-1:00am. We never had to wait more than a minute or so to be served. The bartenders are prompt, make great drinks, and really seem to enjoy their jobs. Occasionally one of the bartenders will circulate around the pool, boardwalk, and beach to see if you want drinks. Food: The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast and lunch selection is good, although it did get monotonous after several days. Food is above average, has something for everyone, and is promptly replenished. The dinner buffet changes a lot more. There are three a la carte restaurants: Abbiocco (Italian), Tings on a Stick (Chinese), Edgewater Grill (higher end steak and seafood). To book the restaurants, go to the concierge (same place to book your return shuttle if provided by your airline) between 9am-5pm. You only need to do this once, you don’t need to keep going back. You can only book each restaurant once though. You can email in advance for your first night if you like, or just wait until you get there – the reservations can be quite late at night if you don’t pre-book. Try the steak or shrimp at Edgewater, beef chop suey and Shanghai noodles a Tings on a Stick, and steak at Abbiocco. Edgewater and Tings were by far my favorite. They also have a snack place that’s open from 10:00am-6:00pm and 10:00pm-1:00am – we made a pilgrimage down there for a late night burger or chicken wings almost every night. Beach: It’s a small man-made lagoon, but it’s private. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas available. The lifeguards will put up an umbrella for you if you like. The water was warm. We saw about half a dozen small blue crabs while we were swimming in there. It’s not that deep, but was refreshing. Pool: The pool is quite large – it snakes around by the snack place, over to the boardwalk, and to the bar. There are tons of chairs available. Not once did we have to get up early to save a seat. We spent a lot of the time sunning on the wooden boardwalk area beside the pool – had a good view of the boats. Staff: Amazing! 99% of the staff really made an extra effort and seemed to truly enjoy their job. The only downside was a couple times the buffet was understaffed, so it took quite a while to get water. That’s on Operations/Management though, not the staff members themselves. Additional: The hotel does not provide a shuttle to the airport. You have to book that yourself, unless it’s part of your flight package (Air Canada contracted out a shuttle). They do provide a free shuttle in the evening to Atlantis and during the day to Cabbage Beach. We went to the beach on Saturday afternoon – it was really busy and packed with people pushing their drinks and services. I don’t feel the need to go back there. It’s only about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Beach and Atlantis. When we walked to Atlantis during the day, we were harassed by some sales rep from a local condo – took forever to get her to go away. The people on the beach are polite and move on quickly though. We didn’t partake in any of the night’s events, as the lobby bar could get pretty loud at night. The pool bar can get pretty loud as well, so if you’re looking for quiet, stick to the boardwalk, far end of the beach, or far end of the pool. Take a walk out to the pier at night – there’s some AMAZING marine life – we saw tiny squids, sting rays, huge fish, and a couple of sharks. Opportunities for management: It would be nice if the resort stocked real bananas at the pool bar for drinks, instead of the cocktail mix. I would also likely to see nightly events listed in the room, instead of the scrolling screen by the ping pong table – the Facebook page wasn’t updated while we were there, so we couldn’t use that either. The DJ can definitely turn the music down a notch or two – one of them was great, the other was waaay too loud for such a small resort. Please update your website – some of the times and menus are out of date.
The Bahamas is an over priced vacation. It was on our to visit list. Wish we stayed somewhere else

The grounds need some TLC. The food is ok, not much of a variety. Some stuff not very friendly even after leaving a large tip. Our room was clean and comfortable. Some staff were clueless when asked question about the area??
