ALERT FOR PEOPLE WITH SENSITIVE SKIN: My wife experienced a serious skin issue during a 17-night stay at this hotel

Diogo R on Nov 26, 2025

My wife and I stayed at Rosen Inn International for 17 nights in Oct/Nov 2025. Unfortunately, we had a very troubling experience related to cleanliness, frequent bugs in the room, and a possible skin infestation. Almost every day we found small bugs and cockroaches in the room and had to kill them ourselves. Around the end of the first week, my wife started to develop intense itching and a rash on her skin. The itching was noticeably worse whenever she was in direct contact with the bed sheet or mattress, but it continued more mildly even after she got out of bed, and then flared up again every night when we returned to the room and she lay down to sleep. I also had some itching, but much milder. My wife has sensitive skin, so at first we weren’t sure if it was an allergy or something related specifically to the bedding. We mentioned the problem to the housekeeping staff member who cleaned our room, and she promptly changed the bed sheets when we asked, but even so, my wife’s itching and skin irritation continued to worsen over the following days. On the last days of our stay, her condition had deteriorated so much that we had to go to the hospital. The doctors there said it could possibly be bed bugs or a similar allergic issue. She was sent to the ER and received an injection with intravenous medication and IV fluids, in addition to the medications they prescribed for her to continue taking afterwards. We also had to switch to another hotel at the last minute. The hospital visit resulted in a bill of about $8,000 USD, which was extremely stressful, even though our travel insurance eventually covered these medical costs (make sure you have insurance!). When we returned to our home country, we expected the reaction to calm down once she was no longer sleeping in that bed. Instead, her skin became even worse. We went to the hospital again and were told it could possibly be scabies. At this point, we cannot prove the source, but the timing aligns very strongly with our stay at this hotel: symptoms starting in the first week, getting worse throughout the 17 nights, and affecting only the two of us who slept in this room. To be fair, the hotel staff we interacted with were always polite and kind, and the location was actually quite good: there was a security worker in the parking area, and it was relatively easy to access parks and different parts of the city from there. Looking back, I regret having decided to stay in this hotel for so long, especially after noticing early on that the carpet and furniture were old and the overall level of cleaning did not seem good. I am sharing this mainly as a warning for anyone with sensitive skin. Based on our experience, something in that room clearly triggered or aggravated a serious skin problem, on top of the discomfort of finding bugs almost daily. The impact on our health and our trip was huge, even though insurance covered the financial part in the end. In my opinion, if you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies, you should avoid this hotel at all costs.

cant fault it great stay as always

Steve M (Bristol, United Kingdom) on Nov 21, 2025

i always request top floor of block 3000 when we arrived we had ground floor but i asked if any chance for higher levels and was change to level 5 in block 3000 it was no issue for the lady on reception and very helpful. we have stayed here before and for us we cant fault it, i must say all the staff are lovely and friendly. the room is simple, clean, very comfy beds, large tv, thermostat air con and good amount of storage. has 2 nice size pools and a small gym that i used when i could. the grounds are clean, lots of grass areas we didn't use the restaurant but well priced buffet style and normally lovely food. a nice small amusements for the kids, on site shop with the essentials and a bar for that cold beer or cocktail. there is also a desk to book buses to Disney (additional charge) and universal (free) my other half used the laundry a couple of times that is great to have any questions about the hotel or the area, Disney and universal etc i will try to help.

Fantastic!

I stayed at this Hotel from 11-18 November in room 1208. I do have to stay that the stay was absolutely fantastic. This was my first time visiting Orlando, Florida. After reading some of the reviews I am suprised to read some of the negative comments but I suppose you're always going to get the "Try and get some money back" folk. The Hotel is exactly what you need, it's located well and there is much around in terms of food. The Hotel put on a good breakfast buffet or if you fancy a change there is a local Denny's or McDonald's within minutes. The rooms are clean and offer heating and cold air with towels provided daily and beds made. There is security staff located at every entrance at the hotel that check every vehicle coming into the ground which was reassuring. You do also see security walking around. The staff were all pleasant and couldn't do enough for you. Even offering to store luggage until we left for the airport as we had an evening flight back to London. There is a local Walmart if you fancy going and getting some snacks and drinks for your fridge. The hotel shop is a little overpriced but as expected with the convenience but have found this the case with many Hotels. The hotel have a bar which is fairly priced for drinks as well as a arcade and chill out room. If you are travelling around Florida would certainly recommend Uber. Local taxis are very expensive. Uber from airport cost us £18 but the local taxis wanted £60. Big difference. The swimming pool was nice for a chill day and the hotel offer swimming towels free of charge in a cabin next to the pool. An absolutely enjoyable stay and I will be booking again for next November. Thankyou to all of the staff!

Great location and warm welcome

R2248ZItomm (Manchester, United Kingdom) on Nov 12, 2025

This hotel has a great location, with a good bus link service to the universal parks. All staff were friendly and approachable. We only ate at the hotel twice for breakfast but there was a decent selection and was clean and warm. The rooms are on the dated side, need a good deep clean and a refresh…. But… We really only slept there so didn’t cause us too much of an issue. The room was serviced daily. We had a dip in weather whilst there, so the air con and heating in the room were fantastic!

Yikes

Charlie A on Nov 11, 2025

Two stars feels generous but it’s what my mum suggested so there we go. We stayed for 21 days. Of the 21, the daily housekeeping came 9 times and on multiple occasions, we had to ask for things like clean towels, bins to be emptied, toilet paper, and for the bedding that was stained when we arrived to be changed. Spoiler - it was replaced with more stained bedding. There were a few issues outside of the room which when we reported to staff, we were laughed at. There’s drugs in multiple blocks which security ignore despite being in full view and easy access for children, and you can smell weed as soon as you go up most of the stairs. The only positive of the hotel is its proximity to things like parks and restaurants. You can’t argue it’s value for money when you can stay at a universal hotel down the road for almost the same price.
