Pro: nice pool area with water slide and bus to park
Con: everything else
There was a lot of chaos at this hotel and none of the employees seemed to have a clue what was going on— from the restaurant staff, to life guards, and hotel staff. We were looking forward to the camp fire which was we cancelled, but no one knew if it was cancelled. It was cancelled due to weather even though it wasn’t raining and the pool was open. We were also looking forward to the outdoor movie, which was another thing none of the employees could figure out. We finally found it was moved to a small room inside with limited seating. It turned out to be attended by 4 men drinking a bottle of liquor and talking loudly and their two children. The pool area is nice, but they offer no coolers of water or anything that you would think a $500 per night plus hotel would have. To get drinks or food you have to go stand in line at the bar because there are no cocktail waiters at the pool. The bar food is the same grab and go stuff that’s located in the hotel shop. Speaking of food, eating is going to be next to impossible unless you book reservations weeks in advance. Make your dining reservations way in advance if u come! Also if you cancel a reservation within 24 hours you will be charged a hefty fee of $10 per person. Also, be prepared for noise and crowds. I was woken up at 3am to children screaming in the hallways. Not sure why children were in the halls at this time. The all you can eat breakfast in the hotel was another area of chaos. None of the food runners knew their table numbers and kept bringing food to the wrong tables. The breakfast was definitely not worth $40 for one adult and one child.
Bottom line—for this type of money or less there are MUCH much nicer hotels. We paid $500 night for a very average room with a parking lot view. Lastly, we probably had the worst location for a room— 2nd floor looking over the lobby. It was noisy all day.
Disney managers would not take my call, so I will leave this review here instead
Jul 21, 2021
FYI, I am angry and ticked off, keep that in mind. Just spent 35 minutes on hold with a call to the Beach Club Resort, only to be told that Disney managers at Beach Club WON'T TAKE MY CALL because I have already checked out. Cowards! In what other business will managers not even LISTEN to customers who are upset? What follows is info that would have been privately communicated to them, but since they WON'T TAKE MY CALL, I am deciding to leave my crazy lady feedback here instead.
Just came back from 5 days at Disney with military discounts, first 3 at Grand Floridian (so amazing! bucket list!) last 2 at Beach Club, disappointing :-(. Disney makes it easy to get your bags from one hotel to another (so nice). Gave bags (+ tip! of course!) to Bell Services at GF, went to EPCOT, came back at 10:30 pm to Beach Club to learn we had been given an accessible room (that we did not need, want, or request) and bags were not in room. Door had a mind of it's own (would slowly open to the count of 10, stay open to the count of 10, then close to the count of 10) we wrestled with it for a a long time (tried to close it before it wanted to close) until we figured out it was a feature for those who needed it. Quick prayer of thanks that that was not us. Too late to switch, just made do, wasn't a deal-breaker to me at that point, but kind of an ugly room for the HUNDREDS OF $$$s that we paid. There were a number of other little things, won't go into those details, don't mean to whine but they put me over the edge I guess ...
What peeved me off was the last day. Had PLANNED to spend day at WONDERFUL pool. It has sand on the bottom, it really is amazing. Gave luggage (and a tip!) to Bell Services at BC, put dry clothes in lockers at Fitness Center (awesome). I used the pool while DD worked out (for her upcoming fitness test that she needs to pass). Lazy river was "especially lazy" according to the signs, it was broken. Sigh, oh well. Had a nice chat with a great and nice lifeguard, learned that the sand makes the pool break down a lot, apparently sand-bottom pools are no longer approved (?), the one at Beach Club only exists now because of grandfathered clauses.
Had a reservation at Beaches and Cream (yummy!). Our conservative bathing suits were too shocking (apparently? lol, you should see me ha ha ha) They insisted we get towels to "cover up" even though we wanted food to go. Tried to get food as quickly as possible because I wanted DD to experience pool after her workout (which was priority for her upcoming fitness test) ... DD never got to experience the fabulous pool after her work out and time constraints, oh well, sigh) ... went to shower and depart when we discovered ... while we were naked ... that the SHOWERS IN THE FITNESS CENTER LADIES ROOM HAD NO WATER. No water! Are you kidding me? How much $$$ did we spend to stay here? DD did not want to stink on the flight home, for some odd reason - she's nicer than me, lol - so I ran out to find a plan B. We found one, thankfully, another shower room, but we were frazzled for the flight home and it cost us $$$ because I was exhausted and not thinking clearly (flight delays that appeared and disappeared, not Disney's fault but I was frazzled) ... Lovely trip ended on a sour note.
Again, I just spent 35 minutes on hold with a call to the Beach Club Resort because I wanted to discuss this with the managers, one human being to another ... but Disney managers at Beach Club REFUSED to take my call. Making a bad end to a pretty great trip that much worse, and I will never forget this. Thanks Disney!
P.S. Just so you know, Disney is also "making magic", lol, by keeping the parks CLOSED TO ALL RESORT GUESTS until official opening time, from now until the 50th celebration begins. How stupid do they think we are? If you went to WDW even a month or two ago, rope drop would be 30 to 60 minutes before official park opening, for EVERYONE ... NOW rope drop is exactly when the park officially opens, because managers want to to give the ILLUSION that they are giving you something for the 50th, when the truth is that they are only giving resort guests what they were normally giving to EVERYONE prior to the 50th ... It's all SMOKE and MIRRORS ....
