Gross, Ghetto, & Geriatric

corinnea430 (Canton, Ohio) on Mar 14, 2026

I was very disappointed in my stay. The cleaning staff didn't refresh our bottled water. When we asked the front desk for water, they told us that we could get some The next time our room was cleaned. We had to convince the staff to give us water on that day. There are signs all over the place about not reserving loungers by the pool or beach. This is not enforced in any way and many guests will take up 2x the amount of chairs that they need. The food was straight up disgusting. Mushy, rotting fruit covered in flies. A lot of it was inedible. Very dry and very bland. I recommend going off resort to eat. The clientele here were mostly 55+. As a young married couple, we felt very out of place. No modern food. No modern activities. No modern music. This resort caters to elderly white people. The reason we booked this resort was due to the colorful resort. We really enjoyed the aesthetic we saw online. Unfortunately, everything has been painted beige. Our room had 1 painting in it. The wall was cracked and falling apart. Our room with 2 double beds were actually 2 fill sized beds. Book somewhere else.

Not great experience. Just OK...

Connie R on Mar 09, 2026

We went for the first time between Feb.9-23. On the first night, checking in was fairly straight forward and a staff member was helping bring our luggage to the fourth floor. No elevator, so not sure how he managed to get there with everything before us? Maybe there is a lift, but only for staff? Never saw it though. The room was disgusting. Everything falling apart and it didn't look like it had been cleaned at all. No hooks to hang anything in the bathroom, which meant leaving clothes on the dirty floor. The location in bldg 2 was very noisy, with it facing the pool and loud speakers going all day long.Asked to switch to another location, but they couldn't accomodate for 2 nights. Had to go thru our rep to get into another room.Better location at bldg 4. Seemed to be in better shape and the cleaning in the room was much better. Wifi is spotty at the best of times.Needed more pool chairs. If you didn't reserve them by 8:30 at the latest, it was difficult to find empty chairs. Got pretty sick of the same food choices, which alternated somewhat but there could have been more options-maybe a sandwich station? No cappucino or specialty coffee really, unless you went to the italian restaurant at night. The ala carte restaurants were good, but unless you got up early in the morning to go to the front desk and reserve a time, you were out of luck.Entertainment at night was just OK. Sat on a concrete slab in the amphitheatre location. Not at all comfortable for those of us over 30. There were some plastic chairs to sit on, but not enough of them. The worst part was what happened during the cartel violence which broke out the 2nd last day for us.They cut out the TV and stayed off for 2.5 days, which meant we couldn't get any outside information about what was going on. Nothing from the staff either. No notices, information or other things that might have reassured us that we were mostly safe. NOT OK considering what was going on.The poor people who checked out on sunday could not return to their rooms and had to sleep OUTSIDE on pool chairs and whatever else they could get their hands on overnight. It looked like a shanty town. Not sure why they couldn't have allowed them to get back into their rooms, since no one was checking in that day. They were allowed to get rooms on the monday however. It was mostly chaotic, which I understand somewhat given the circumstances, but I feel like the staff could have done more to help allay our nerves and address the concerns we had. Some of the staff was polite and helpful, but in the minority, I felt. Very budget hotel. No room service.Would I return there? The answer is no sadly.

Never again

Rob S on Mar 01, 2026

We went as a family of 10. With 4 rooms. We had 4 grand kids with the group. First there is lots of room around the pools and beach for beach chairs but most days you can not get one let alone a group of 3 or 4 for our group to share. The resort needs to double the number of chairs!!! The chairs are so limited that if you don't put out a towel and personal belongings on a chair at 6:30 am you don't get one! Never again would I suggest going back to this resort for our group!!! The next huge problem is the a la cart restaurants. They have very little seating (maybe 10 tables) at each of the three seatings. 6pm 7:30pm and 9:00pm. Our group had 4 kids between 3 and 8 years old. We had a single mom in one of the rooms with two of the kids. If you want a reservation you can try the app that does not work we had 6 adults trying all 6 cell phones with no luck to get the app to work. We were told the app does not work and that we had to line up in the building 4 lobby to make a reservation. The impossible part is that the line starts building before 6:30 am for the customer service desk open at 8am. The icing on the cake is that every room must have a representative in order to book dinner. I could not book dinner for the group!!! Everyone had to be in line at 6:30am. This was not possible for my single daughter with her two young kids!!! Full disclosure...I was very angry with the Westjet holiday rep (Nexus) and he some how did get us a reservation for the group for 3 dinners that were at best just average. My last point here is we went to this resort because of price but in hindsight we would of been much happier and better off just to pay a little more for a far less stressful holiday. Please consider our experience when you make your choice of resorts. Rob Vancouver BC Canada

Great stay for 12 days! Will be back again!

Laurette K on Feb 27, 2026

I loved the beach. You could walk for miles. The most beautiful sunsets. A lot of rooms need updating. There are 6 blocks. We started in Block 2, 4th floor. Moved to Block 4, 3rd floor, much better. Everyone very friendly. Great service. Good food. Lots of selection. Fruit is soooo flavourful. Will be back!

Awesome vacation in Bucerias

kevinmR173YJ on Feb 19, 2026

Once again we had a wonderful two weeks at the Royal Decameron in Bucerias. Once again we leave fully satisfied with every aspect of this resort. The staff are wonderful and will ensure your every need is taken care of. Karina in guest services went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The food was excellent and the bartenders ensured you were served with your fav drink. Kudos to Angel at the beach bar and Christal at the sports bar. We will return for sure.
