Last time at the Decameron.

My husband and I spent Jan 4-11, this is the sixth time we have stayed. I am disappointed in many things about the stay. Upon check in I was surprised that “Oceanview” is Block 4. It is noisy, the bar was at the end of the building and the Flamingos restaurant right across. The whole complex needs updating. The staff do not seem happy like the were years previously. I will say the food was good at the buffets and the reservation at the Italian restaurant was good. However the reservation at the Mexican restaurant was not very relaxing. Staff ran around like they had a fire to put out and we felt very rushed. Our room some days was not cleaned until 5-this is very difficult if you have plans for supper and you cannot get ready in case they come to make up the room. On one occasion I went to reception twice to see if we could get the room made up, this was at 2:00 & 4:30 and I was told they would be right up-well they came up bit proceeded to clean other rooms. By the time we did get into the room we had very little time to get ready for a reservation at a restaurant 30 minutes away, very disappointing. We will not book here again, many people we spoke to are of the same opinion. Sad that the hotel has become not the great place it used to be.
Relaxing time with family

The staff are wonderful. The mattresses hard. For the most part the rooms are clean. Washrooms around the resort need some better attention. Drinks are great, buffet is great at lunch and breakfast but dinner I found I needed an a la carte restaurant. Lots to do day and night, but you need to be up early if you want a lounging chair in the beach or poolside. My view was awesome.

Spent 2wks in resort, from Nov 26-Dec10, major complaint is there food, same almost everyday. All buffets open to outside, birds flying an landing eating food at Jap Jap, where we would have breakfast. These area should be closed in, walk ways , side walks, uneven, had major accident leaving block 4 , raised edge tip of shoe got caught an fell straight down, smashed cheek, scrapes arm.Dr said only sprain, I new better being a RN , had tensors with me as they did nothing, was a mess, had to buy brace up town, got home to find our fracture distal radius.not happy. Bathrms need renovated tiles old, should be classed as 2* if that. For 2 wks we asked to have sink Fixed as plugged in block 5, no one ever came. Wifi awful, could never get a la cartes, difficult to find staff at desks who understood English. Could have had better resort for same price. Everyone I know has different tastes, but this resort needs so much improvement , don’t know how people could keep returning

This was our 4th trip to PTV, staying at the GRC and had another great time. We joined 7 other friends and enjoyed our time together. Honestly I don’t know why guest have left such negative reviews, that’s sad to read. We emailed and asked to be in block 5 and got our room there. Perfect! Our room was dated yes but very spacious and clean, we would have breakfast and go back to find the maid had been there and gone by 9:30, every morning. And yes we got 2 bottles of water every day! Perfect! We were by the adult pool and bar where we spent most of the afternoons. We met so many friendly fellow Canadians, it was awesome. Meeting up for drinks after dinner was a highlight for us all as we drank and laughed the nights away. We never had any issue getting reservations at the al la carte’s, 2 from our group would reserve for all 9 of us, not on their website but by going to the lobby and getting the reservations. It was easy & fast! Food was very good, no complaints at all! Breakfast was exceptional, omelettes, bacon, fruit, cheese if chocolate buns, Perfect! We enjoyed the beach most mornings, it was a great walk to see the many dolphins and whales in the bay! There are changes happening throughout the resort which is nice to see, again I don’t why guests are complaining. Just go and enjoy your time away!
Fourth time here, many changes

Its becoming a habit to come to this complex every December with my girlfriend and we saw some changes. Now the normal metal keys have been swapped for card keys, in our opinion we preferred the old one because we could just hang them around the neck and even swim without worrying to damage them, regardless it was the first sign of "Improvement". Now the rooms are equipped with a minifridge, of course empty, but it was nice. The rooms are dated but the AC is functioning perfectly, and the best part was that they added a charge free safe (they used to charge for the service). Its a digital safe with enough room for a laptop and stuff. But the room still lacked an iron and ironing board. For some reason, they thought that painting the resort white was a good Idea, when its vibrant colors was the reason many of us felt it like a cheerful and beautiful place ! and saw a general tendency to repaint many areas with dull and boring colors. Despite that the service, amenities, and food are great (Desserts need a little work and there was no ice cream during our stay), all the personal is amazingly kind, the resort is big with enough pools, bars and clean bathrooms. And restaurants like flamingos have an amazing beach view. The beach is so beautiful and safe, and the resort is just 10 minutes walking from Bucerias, you can also take the local bus "Compostella" to Sayulita Pueblo magico and guayabitos, we took a tour there at guayabitos beach to whale watch. Of course I will come again god willing next december , and I recommend it. Its an awesome and budget friendly hotel, people here complain a lot should got to other resorts where they will pay at least 50% more.
