Nice hotel! 90% + of customers were resident of the country of Mexico during Christmas and New Years vacation period. Friendly Staff! Raoul Ramirez (Captain at Buffet Restaurant) and his staff were awesome! Efficient housekeeping everywhere!
Pointless hot tub policy, questionable food safety practice.

The only reason I'm not scoring 1 star is because our cleaning lady Nardi was a dream. She worked so hard, our room was always spotless, and she was super friendly each time we saw her. But...I'm a single mom who took my two sons (17 & 18) on a much anticipated family vacation, looking for care free relaxation with them. And the very first night we arrived, I regretted booking this place. My two sons went straight for the hot tub for a soak together. But immediately a staff member told my 17 yr old that the hot tub was only for adults and he had to get out. So my 18 year old got out too, in solidarity. When I came down to join them minutes later and heard what happened, we decided to try another hot tub. And as we sat there, quietly relaxing, the same staff member and a life guard descended upon us, again kicking my 17 year old out. As it turns out NO ONE under the age of 18 can even sit in or around ANY of the hot tubs. We all three got out, because we were there to spend time together, and didn't want my 17 yr old to feel stranded. So we reluctantly got in the cold pool, only to find out (from the same two staff) that all pools and hot tubs were closing in 5 min. (9pm!). We almost felt like they were following us around. So in the space of 20 min. we were soaking wet, cold and very frustrated. We walked in to speak to the front desk and manager there. I expressed how ridiculous this policy was...that my 18 year old could not only sit in the hot tub, but could also drink alcohol freely all over the property, yet my 17 year old, who is just as responsible (yet looks young for his age), was not even allowed to enjoy time in the hot tub with his parent? Absolute nonsense. And the staff couldn't give any good explanation for the policy. It was clearly not for safety, because the hot tubs were actually lukewarm (no joke), barely above room temp. I get it, and appreciate an adult only hot tub when I want it, but you have three hot tubs! Kids get cold too! At least make one of them family friendly? Or at least allow 12 yrs and up with parent...or even 16? Come on. Anyway, this policy is not only pointless, but they're not enforcing it equally. Some families we saw get away with it, others were hunted down, like mine. Beyond this main complaint there were a host of other smaller ones that add up to 'I won't be staying here again': Food was mediocre. Meat was often dry. We constantly found the buffet serving utensils lying on top of the dish of food. I even watched a kitchen worker walk thru, straightening up the buffet by placing the used tongs right back 'inside' all of the dishes....the handle part that everyone touches laying 'in' the food. Woof. We also found a live weevil worm in my son's orange juice one morning. One night we reserved a table at the specialty dining room. My one son was running 10 minutes late, but they seated us anyway while we waited. However, the staff proceeded to be very rude to us, like we were putting them out by delaying the ordering process by 10 min. This was very strange since we were one of only TWO occupied tables in the entire restaurant! After the waiter started pacing impatiently, I asked if the two of us could order first, and then my other son could just order when he arrived. The waiter rudely said no, and walked away. So weird. And the food wasn't even that good either? The spa was also a bit weird. We always had limited options for reservation times, and very strict time limits. At exactly 50 min. the male spa manager walked right into the woman's spa changing area while I was getting dressed and told me my time was up, basically escorting me out? Yet I think we were the only three people using it all week....only once did I see another woman in the spa. Alas, I will not be staying here again. Book if you will, but if you have teens, well-mannered and mature or not, you will not be enjoying the 'not-hot' tubs with them at all.
