Great Holiday!
JandLSaskatoon (Saskatchewan) on May 07, 2026
It was our first time to PV and we didn’t know what to expect but first impressions were good. We met a lot of great travellers and had some memorable experiences. Staff are all friendly except for one person who I believe is a first aid staff member. He seemed to have rules for some people and not others. Witnessed this several times at the adults only pool. Some people were allowed Yeti cups in the pool, others were not. What was allowed our first week was no longer allowed the second week. When we tried to ask him questions, he dismissed us and walked away. The rest of the staff were all great and we had no issues. Martin at the front of the hotel always went above and beyond for us as we had so many questions having never been to the area. Edgar, Oscar, Guadalupe, David to name a few and so many more that we can't remember the names of them all. There are two things that we didn’t like, one is out of the control of the hotel. There is a nightclub two blocks away and when it is open, you could hear the music in our room until 3-4 in the morning on weekends. Not having a fridge was an inconvenience but it is not a deal breaker for us to return. Food was good and we always found something to eat. The hotel caters to its Mexican clientele and would have been nice if more entertainment was also explained in English. Once the show ends everyone goes to their room. We took a speaker, went to the beach as we are not ones to go to bed early. The room was clean, always hot water and fresh towels everyday. We did not go in the ocean as on our first night saw a crocodile enter the ocean. We are not strong swimmers and were ok with just walking on the beach.
Great sunsets and lobby bar bartender!

It is nice to be able to have meals by the beach with the beautiful views of the ocean and evening sunset. David, the bartender in the lobby bar goes out of his way to be helpful and make great drinks.
An amazing resort!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Tomas who took all our luggage to our room. We saw him everyday as we left the hotel to discover all Puerto Vallarta has to offer and to greet us as we returned. The day we left, he actually remembered that we're returning to Colorado. At the buffet, we had VIP service from Pedro and his partner Aristeo and in the evening from Alfredo. Pedro stood out as the most outstanding server and always remembered what we liked to eat and drink. Las Palmas is lucky to have him working there! It makes a huge difference when someone caters to you as he did. Can't wait to return!
I loved it here!

This was personally my favourite resort to stay at so far. At first, the drive in and seeing the hotel, I didn't think too much of it. It didn't look the greatest from the front, but of course you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. The lobby area is very nice with a breeze that goes through, and I quite like the tall hut-like appearance. I loved the well-spaced layout. Everything was a short walk from the other, and it was very nice all around. My parents room (303) was a little dated looking, but my brother and I's (309) was not. It was clean, there was no damage or repairs needed, and everything worked. You also can't go wrong with a view of the ocean! My only very minor complaints would be the short balcony railing, 0 pictures on the wall, a fairly loud AC, and the shower pressure fluctuating here and there. The food was good, the selection wasn't huge, but we never skipped a meal and always found something. The fruit selection is good, as well as the fruit itself. I found the chicken rather dry, as well as the bread, which was unfortunate as it's what I usually aimed to get. They certainly make an delicious banana bread though! Our servers, Oscar, Sergio, and Juan, we're wonderful, very friendly and efficient gentlemen. We spent most of the time at the adult pool, as the family pool was too loud and busy for us. We never had to fight for a lounger which was great, compared to some hotels where if you're not up by 6am they're gone. One thing I loved especially that my mom reminded me of a few days in was the kayaks being included with your stay! I had never gone kayaking before, and decided to give it a go. The ocean was perfect each time we went. Saul was wonderful, very friendly and easy to chat with! Another thing I really enjoyed about this resort is how close is was to everything else in the area. We went to the Malecon a few times by bus, only 11 pesos each way. It was a bit of a hot ride sometimes, but it's fairly quick. The Malecon has tons of shops, and some super cool entertainment, but if you go a little further in, you'll come across a long island called Isla del Río Cuale. There you will find tons of awesome shops, I absolutely adore all of the bead work, as well as the ladies who sell gorgeous watercolour paintings close to the beginning, and at the end is the best part.. Cats. Isla del Río Cuale is also known as Cat Island. They have a lovely, large, park area, host to tons of cats. We wish we brought more treats, but didn't know that we would be there more than once. 99% of them are super sweet, some are pretty skittish, but they will come right to you if you have treats, some even without. You'll get the oddball that will try to scratch you, but that's just kitty nature. At the end of Cat Island there is a little eatery called Las Brazzas. I can't rave enough about this place. My family LOVED their tacos and quesadillas, as well as their piña coladas. The lovely lady who works there even remembered us from the one time we were there, and got our order darn near spot-on upon seeing us. Back at the hotel, they also have a couple of kitties hanging around. 2 of them, a calico and a pale orange tabby, came around in the night time, and one grey and white tabby came in the buffet. I couldn't deny the sweet, and very obvious boy (lol), a fresh fishy meal. The other kitty we saw hangs around the first stair platform on the adult side, and she has 2 precious little kittens that she moves from time to time. For me, this was a big selling point. If you love cats, I highly recommend Las Palmas. In short, I loved everything about this trip. The price was right, and the whole hotel and surrounding area were great. We talked to SO many amazing people, and I would definitely come back here again!
Just ok

First off this resort is a smaller, older. resort, catering mostly to locals! As we checked in I couldn’t believe how the welcome was, very disappointed and far less welcoming than we have ever experienced! We realized then the language barrier! Food- I am not picky and found the options limited but I was ok with what they had! This resort is not for you if you are a foody! There are no food options though once it’s closed! Rooms- Rooms are dated, no fridge or irons in the room! A few small bottles of water each day! There is a Safe but it has a key you have to carry around at all times One side of the rooms are near the family pool, the other is near the adult pool! Both fairly noisy! Some rooms In the middle but again noisy! Beds are very comfortable Beach-Beach was great, no lifeguards so when choppy just be careful! Can’t move your chair anywhere other in the designated area! There is a language barrier so staff told us many different rules! Vendors at all times but very respectful! We had one round of beach service once per day! Pools-2 pools, adult is fairly quiet but in the hub of the resort, family pool is very noisy most of the time ! Bars- Bar opens at 11 and I found drink options limited! Again, a language barrier so if you ask for something specific, they don’t always know what you are asking for! There are no chairs to sit at that bar specifically which is sad cause it would add options as the only other bar is very small and sits very few people! Shows-All shows catered to the locals or Mexican people! Mostly Spanish speaking and you can’t really escape the show as it’s in the lobby! First resort where they really didn’t make you feel wanted as a Canadian! -Animals- This for me was very difficult! Please Las Palmas, if you are reading this… give your parrots some toys in that cage you keep them in! It’s disgusting to see 4 in a cage with nothing to do but sit there! Do better! A few cats, with newborn kittens but nothing is done! They are hungry and not in very good shape! It ruined my trip in a way because it was hard to watch! Some resorts fix the strays and keep them around to get rid of rodents and feed them but not this resort! I tried to contact shelters there but to no avail! I tried to talk to staff but they didn’t understand! I used a translated app but again, no help! Overall ok experience, we made do as we wanted sun and the beach and got it! We talked to a few Americans and Canadians and some agreed they felt the same regarding more of a Mexican clientele and didn’t feel wanted or welcomed! Some said the resort grew on them once there for a few days!
