The good and bad

Overall, it was acceptable good times with good friends. Pros: Staff were very kind when approached Beaches were very nice and hotel was very close to the ocean. Travelers were in good spirets and fun to talk to. Cons: No Air conditioning even after we change to a better room. No drinks supplied in the rooms except water. No coffee machine in room and the coffee available the was far away and horrible. Even though they say Internet throughout the resort there was not internet in rooms. Service was nonexistent unless you pushed for it. No drink service by the pool. Hotel wasn't the cleanest and was outdated. ...
Nice grounds and stunning views - that's it. No way this resort is to any codes or standards.

Location was beautiful, grounds and the beach, However the beach was very corroded at this resort and there was barely any shaded areas you could lounge at. Pool was large as pictured but there is no landscaping around the pools but by the surrounding buildings. The pictures shown are not accurate as the buildings on the right where food is served is extremely run down, white roofs with what looks like mold. The staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and un approachable. The bartenders at the one restaurant, sports bar and lobby bar were always very helpful, funny as well as friendly (Rosa was at the lobby bar). NO COFFEE IN ROOMS, buffet coffee was gross Communication was also not there, we had to find and carry our own luggage half way across the property up stairs to second level. We were not informed or shown where spa, gym or any water sports were located as they were not directly on the main property. Shops on site were only in US$ and more expensive than any stores I have seen both in Canada and the US. There were only a couple of days that had music or any good entertainment and Casino or shops were no way in walking distance. 10 Days was a little long for this resort and definitely not worth the money, this is the first all inclusive that only supplied a limited drink menu and almost 100% self serve resort. rooms were ok but most have items like a blow dryer or hot water that do not work, no TP Holders in the rooms I saw and cord for blow-dryer in my room had a false eyelash attached. Sheets and towels were not changed. beds were made but sheets were just re-used, I had requested new bedspreads as they were dirty, they were never changed.

We were 8 people and we had a great time. Yes, the resort is dated, and does require some updating etc. but, overall it was a nice size resort, clean. The grounds were lush and well manicured, the beach area can be a little crowded, but, no big deal, however, if you like walking the beach you can walk for miles. The staff was great, especially Luigi, he works at all the different bars. Richardo works the lobby bar in the evening. Rosa works the lobby bar in the daytime and Pedro, who works at the Calypso during the day, were all wonderful and very friendly. Francesca was our house keeper, she was friendly and did a great job cleaning the room. The food was very good, never had a bad meal, lots of options. The buffet they had roasted pig, deep fried turkeys at the carve station on certain nights. Stir fry and pasta stations every night. in the mornings, they have an omelette and egg station and lots of other breakfast options. There is also a snack bar during the day behind the Calypso Bar, options were, roasted chicken (very tasty must try), pizza, french fries, burgers and hot dogs. They also have self-serve wine and beer stations at the buffet :) The A la carte restaurants were good, they have International, Italian and Mexican. on a rotational bases. If you are looking for a nice little size resort with good food this is a great little place, 30 minutes from the airport, but if you are looking for a 4-5 Star look elsewhere, this is a solid 3 Star at a good price point, we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I will not return! We have travelled to many all inclusive, but this is the first time we received such terrible service! We always tip generously, but the staff did not seem impressed or care and after a few days, we stopped tipping expect for a few. The place is very run down, could not get an extra blanket even though the AC was either freezing or off an hot. Often had no hot water, no face clothes. There were fights over chairs, including our own, where someone took our towels, and threw our books away. I filmed one fight that included calling security. This would not happen if there were more cabanas available, stricter enforcement on saving seats all day and not using them. The fruit and fresh food was good, but other than the omelette station, the cooked food was unappetizing. We were disappointed that we had zero service at dining, had to get our own drinks, etc. The room required repairs when we arrived, some of which were resolved, others not. This is the first resort I have ever experienced such poor service! We did enjoy close proximity to the ocean, the lush vegetation, and beautiful weather.
Amazing little 3.5 star resort!

This resort was perfect for us! A group of 8 friends ages 48 to 64 from Nova Scotia, Alberta and Ontario stayed various numbers of days ranging from 7 to 12. Bavaro beach is world class and you can beach walk for many kms in either direction. The pool area was very nice as well. The food was excellent at the buffet with other alacarte options of Mexican, Italian and International good as well. The resort and rooms were very clean and the grounds were beautifully kept. Two in our group did have some hot water issues in their rooms. We found the staff for the most part very friendly and helpful. Standouts were Ricardo, Rosa, Pedro and Liugi who were all so friendly and seemed to genuinely like their jobs! The resort felt super safe at all times of day and night. Overall a smaller intimate resort that never felt crowded and as long as you don't think you're getting a 5 star for the price of a 3.5 star I highly recommend this resort!
