Good value for the price.

We were at Vik Arena Blanca Feb11 -19 2024 with my family(4 people) We got a good deal for our package which we are taking into consideration when making this review. Admittedly yes, the beach has erosion issues which is in the works of being rehabilitated. Yes, one of the pools was shut down due to maintenance. Having said that, I can definitely say the food was very good with lots of variety. The a la carte restaurant had plenty of tasty dishes to satisfy everyone. No one in my family was sick which is a first since we come to the DR regularly. If you are gluten free, you may talk to the head chef who will take care of your needs. Weather was perfect, staff was great. I was wary due to the negative reviews of this hotel and came away pleasantly surprised. I did some random polling of fellow guests and had only one complaint out of 10 about their stay here. Rooms were clean and functional, a tad dated but suited our needs. We are not that fussy and took things in stride. If you are looking for perfection expect to pay a lot more and book elsewhere.

Just ok

Stayed for 5 days recently. Hotel is smaller which is good as everything is close. Large variety of drinks and A la carte dinners were great with no reservations needed. Rooms are spacious but we had no hot water for most of our 5 day stay. Air conditioning didn't work, patio doors had no ability to lock. Garden staff, wait staff are friendly. Staff at bar could not smile if their lives depended on it. The recent hurricane wrecked the beach. It is very eroded. 20% as nice as the online photos show. Unavoidable but should be disclosed. Also 1 of the 2 pools closed for repairs until the fall.

Very poor conditions, management, safety and ownership responsibility.

I can not believe Westjet Vacations is still offering this package to your unsuspecting customers. I will be very disappointed in Westjet if Vik Hotel Arena Blanca is not removed immediately. There are so many problems with this "resort" including senior safety items, poor or non existent management decisions, no air conditioning, dangerous access to the beach. The list goes on and on. If a Westjet representative is not personally checking out the properties they offer should be. This one is a definite blight on your well earned reputation.

Where to start..... We booked this hotel in October 2023, with the intent that infact it had two pools and 4 al a cartes as well as the buffett, upon arriving the main pool is shut off and the al a cartes are one building and it rotates, We had no Ac the whole time we were there and upon going to the front desk their famous words are tomorrow tomorrow! and then we went to the air transat rep and as well his words were tomorrow tomorrow well folks tomorrow never comes at this place, the beach is washed away and thats fine as you cant control mother natures doings but the rest of the problems here is infact due to poor management , we were lucky we had hot water the first three days, the no ac was infact a big issue, as far as the pools and al a cartes we should of been informed by our travel agent before going, the food is ok basically same thing daily, make sure its cooked! the daily entertainment isnt much so if ur going to relax then its fine, we had a total of 5 rooms booked and not one of us can say we will be returning to the resort! and now for the Adventure Land Excursions I would suggest not doing the swimming withe the dolphins you pay 120 american and is suppose to be for 50 mintues interacting for 40 and then touching dolphins for ten, and they kicked us out in 40 min so we paid the extra for the vip and they kicked us out same time as everyone and when asked about it back at the rep we were told im sorry my friend we switched companys, and offered a bag of coffee haha , ill leave this review in saying that the resort needs alot of work and should be shut down until this is complete your paying alot of money to go here and not getting what you pay for! and anyone who is with air transat your Rep Tony is not much help for anything only if you wish to buy excursions from him!

Very good resort

I was traveling with a family in February 2024. After reading the reviews I was extremely concerned about going to this resort. There are a lot of negative reviews and I came to this resort with a negative mindset. Oh boy I was wrong. In fact this resort exceeded my expectations. Vik resort is a small resort, which is a bonus. Beach, pool, bars, and restaurants are very close and no need to walk far. We stayed at building number 4- which was close to the beach, pool and buffet. Lobby : is small, needs some revamping and renovation. Yes, chairs are plastic and there is no fancy furniture in the lobby. There is a small bar and a coffee machine where you can make your own coffee. Room(s): are spacious and clean with comfortable beds. There is a small fridge in the room where bottled water is always provided, no pop drinks. AC was working, ceiling fan as well, bathroom was clean and spacious. Yes, the rooms are dated and do require some renovations. Restaurant buffet: lots of variety of food, every day there was a new dish, super tasty with lots of flavors. Fish, chicken, salads, ice cream, pasta, fresh coffee. Food was excellent. Snack bar: excellent. There was fresh fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, and very good pizza. Bars : variety of different drinks, beer, soft drinks. Beach: is beautiful. Yes, it is eroded but there is plenty of space on the sand and lots of chairs. Beach is very long, you can go for a long walk along the beach and see other resorts. The water is beautiful. There are local people walking on the beach and selling things like jewelry, excursions. Pool(s): one of the pools is closed the 2nd pool (large) is open. The 2nd pool does need some renovation as well. Entertainment: there is not much happening in terms of the environment. There are daily evening shows which are quite basic. Grounds: beautiful. Staff are doing an excellent job keeping the grounds clean and green. If you're looking for a small resort with a great food and beautiful beach this is the place for you.
