Booked a last minute one night stay and needed to add my partner to the reservation. I used the chat feature on my Marriott Bonvoy app. Very quick response and name was added. The hotel also proactively (pre-arrival) upgraded my room. I really appreciated this as most Marriott hotels only do that upon checkin. This tells me they value loyalty members. On the day of arrival, My flight was cancelled out of Toronto due to bad weather in St. John's. I contacted the hotel and spoke with Ashley at the front desk. She understood my situation and kindly cancelled my reservation without issue. I'm really impressed with the hotel's quick communication response time (via the app) and I was very happy that Ashley was able to instantly cancel my reservation without any fuss. This left me with a very positive impression. I will rebook my trip in the very near future and will only consider staying here.
A few gotcha's in an otherwise reasonable hotel

1. Noise from outdoors might disturb you at night for rooms on the front of the hotel near the main entrance - I woke up from guests talking loudly outside. 2. Fun fact: hotel staff advised that there is no stairs from the upper floors to the main lobby: good luck if the elevator is over capacity or missing in action. 3. The room was clean, although stains in the light-coloured carpet might suggest otherwise. 4. The front desk staff were polite and helpful, even though they were very short-staffed at check-in.
A week in St-john's Newfoundland

Room was clean and comfortable. The personal was very nice and helpful. The location downtown is great and close to everything. There is a fitness room, indoor swimming pool and a restaurant. We had a little grocery store and all the restaurants and pubs within walking distance. We were in NL during a heat wave and we ran out of summer clothing so we had to go to a laundromat just around the corner.

We stayed here in September of 2022. The location was great for us. We like to walk to explore and the location was great for that. Close to hiking trails and the restaurants and bars in the downtown area. The room was clean and comfortable. Service was good. We opted to include breakfast which was a good buffet.

Stayed 2 nights at Shearton St John's. .Location of hotel is good provided that you have a car driving around the city. It is quite a walk to Water Street where there are a number of restaurants . Upgraded to Executive floor. . Room is of decent size with 2 queen beds. Breakfast and afternoon snacks at the executive lounge is decent. Nothing to complain
