Excellent location and fabulous views

Spent a few nights here while visiting Newfoundland and it was totally worth it. When I checked in, the young man excused himself and went into a back office which was a little concerning. As it turned out, the room I originally booked - which was a harbourview king - was oversold. So, they upgraded us! What an upgrade. We had a perfect view of the harbour and the narrows as well as Signal Hill. Our room was enormous and had a jacuzzi tub tucked neatly into one corner. The king bed was very comfortable and had awesome linens and four fantastic pillows. On the other side of the room was a full livingroom set up, large couch and 2 accent chairs with a very large flat panel TV. There was also a microwave, mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The hotel is within walking distance of a lot of great shops, restaurants and pubs.

Meh! Rooms in desperate need of guy renovation

Built in 1982 with rooms and bathrooms furnished about the I would guess. Lobby is fresh and redone, the rooms are not. Old old style bathroom with tub shower and single vanity. Room is small and basic with no safe or mini bar. There is a refrigerator and there are wall outlets so at least you can charge your devices. Bed is comfortable Tv is large and modern. Everything else (design, carpet which is disgusting, drapes, heat/ac, bathroom) is faded and in desperate need of modernization and updating. The window wall ac/heat is ridiculously noisy so hopefully you won't need it or your won't be able to sleep. Walls and doors are sooo thin you can hear everything. Check in was interminably slow at 430am!!! Could not get anyone to answer room service for more than an hour one night so gave up...a big event meant I guess they had no staff to pick up the phone. A very very mediocre hotel. Stay somewhere else.

Nice hotel with great hospitality

Wonderful hotel in great location. The staff were especially lovely. I was there for a conference when the hotel was sold out and I had the bad luck of having my air conditioning break. My room was sweltering. Imelda the guest services manager went above and beyond trying to sort it out, even looking to other hotels to send me to. Entire city was sold out so she bought a bunch of fans and cold bottled water and we made do. It was the effort that was appreciated. Typical Newfoundlander hospitality I imagine, but I am grateful nonetheless.

Great stay!

Had a one night stay last weekend and really felt welcomed at the Sheraton! It's been a while since I last stayed at this hotel. Staff was awesome. Check-in was smooth and all in all was just a great stay! Nice acknowledgement from the staff for being a Titanium member. Will be back in the spring!

Time to update suite

Moved over to the Sheraton after a brief stay at the ALT Hotel. We were lodged on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the city. The staff upon arrival were very helpful and polite. Room service was excellent and swift. Their seafood chowder was a definite 10. The room however was very old and dated. Stale smell of smoke in room which is annoying for non smokers. Renovations are needed sooner than later. I would still recommend this Hotel to other for accommodation. No issues with the elevators as stated in earlier reviews.
