We just came back last Friday from a one week holiday at Ports of Call. We are a 70 and 71 year old couple who are well travelled. We have stayed in true 5 star resorts Oberoi, Shangrila, Danielli and many 4 and 5 star all inclusive resorts.
Within minutes at reception we were given a room. You need to give a $200 Deposit on the room. We had requested a first or second floor room and were given a standard king on the first floor. We had a lovely view of the back garden with a huge bougainvillea bush. The room is a junior suite, sitting area with coffee table, square table to have meals if you wanted and a small fridge which kept things cold. There is a closet with hangers and a safe. The king bed was comfortable with nice white sheets. The pillows were a little hard. There is a lot of storage in the cabinet in from of the bed. The bathroom is clean and we always had hot water. We had towels daily except one day we had to call for same. We also had to request to have the floor cleaned as it was gritty. generally our room was kept very clean.
The hotel is very clean, all around the pool, the lobby, the hallways, the kitchen all floors are cleaned every day. All the outdoor tables are cleaned. Breakfast was included, white bread, whole wheat, bagels, mini croissant and pain au chocolat. These are not French pastries but were acceptable. There is cereal, coffee, tea juice and something hot every day, i.e. scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, potatoes, waffles, a couple of kinds of fruit daily. a choice of juices, yogurt. Anyone wanting a big breakfast can walk over to the Seven Stars resort or the Ritz. They both serve a large breakfasts. We were happy to have our included breakfast as it was easy.
The Grace Bay Gourmet is across the parking lot. We purchased cold cuts, cheese and crackers, grapes, tomatoes, water, wine etc and were able to have a lunch sitting around the pool.
We were unaware that there is an outdoor shower to clean your feet. Facing the hotel entrance to the left, just off the ramp is a foot shower and a full shower. I suggest the hotel put up a sign indicating same as we only found out from another guest.
This hotel is well managed by a lady called Angie. She is lovely and manages the hotel well. She must be very good at her job because there are only happy employees. Alexandria, Sandy, Mercedes, Wesley are all charming ,helpful. and efficient. Everyone who works there is polite and friendly. From the maintenance staff, to the housekeepers, to the security guards. When we visited other hotels and restaurants this was not the case.
The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes which is fine early morning but hot in the middle of the day. Wesley would drive us back and the front desk would call him back for us and others after lunch.
The beach is the most beautiful, nicer than Aruba, Antiqua. As beautiful as Goa. There are lovely blue umbrellas for shade and comfortable chairs. The water is warm and pleasant. No sargassum. Lovely to walk.
The airport is a disaster. I would check with the hotel staff at what time to leave. We had a 4 pm flight and had hired a driver for arrival and departure. He picked us up at 1 and we were at the airport around 1.20 the check in was fast and security quick enough. The interior is not air conditioned. There was no place to sit. The recording said there was an upstairs lounge. We went up and it was like sitting on a bus. There are blue tarps to keep out the sun and rain. Well the blue tarp gave away all its water and I was soaked to the skin. My hair dripping. I had to go down and stand by the large fan. No fun. I think it would be easier to get there an hour before the flight and maybe have a place to sit and wait.
We would return to this hotel and this island again and again. Just be prepared because the restaurants, although delish, are very expensive.
This place could be compared to a dated and smelly Holiday Inn in FL, but you pay the rate of a Ritz in the USA

This place could be compared to an old and smelly hotel in Southern Florida, but you pay the price of a nice Marriott in Manhattan. The rooms are smelly, the A/C is loud, the breakfast… don’t even call it a breakfast… the only one good thing is the location which is kind of convenient. I’m traveling for business and the company booked it, I would never chose this place if I was on my own.

The place was great to stay at, we had some issues on the first day, however the hotel staff was quick to fix it. The A/C in the room was very loud while it was on. The staff were all pleasant from the front desk, to the cleaning lady and Watson the bar tender was nice. Breakfast was good, plenty of options. The place is located in the town area, where everything is accessible. The walk to the beach is about 4 minutes and you have to cross a street on the road to get there or there is shuttle that can take you there. Overall the place was great and everyone was nice.
Shabby not chic…

We stayed here again. My husband’s choice. He wanted something cheap and close to the beach and grocery store. Towels and bed linens are still top notch. Unfortunately that’s all that was. The pool is still dirty and cloudy. There is garbage in the gardens and just a general sense of being unkept about the property. Don’t get sucked into the free breakfast. I found 2, not 1, but 2 long black hairs in my waffle!! The furniture in the rooms is tired, the hardware on the dressers are rusting. There seems to be some kind of scam going on with the taxi drivers where you think the driver arranged and paid for by your company is picking you up but then you get to the airport and are expected to pay full fair because it wasn’t the right taxi. They know when you are expecting to be picked up and arrive and take you before the real ride arrives. Happened to other people staying at this hotel as well so be careful.
A very good choice for the magnificent Grace Bay Beach

The rooms are perfectly fine. The staff up front can seem less interested than you want or expect occasionally but the average is good to very good. The entire resort and your room is very clean. You have mini-refrigerator in your room. Ice is at the south end of the hall.
The two attributes which bring the Ports of Call Resort noteworthy value are the location and beach facilities. Joseph and Wesley at the beach cheerfully greet guests and lead them to a blue chaise under a blue umbrella, if you have the green Ports of Call Resort beach towels, which you collect fresh every day at the front desk. The walk to the beach is less than 10 minutes and comfortable, weaving between two private properties on a beach access public road.
Access to the beach facilities is one of the benefits of the location. The other is the proximity of shops, bars, and restaurants. You can reach a number of good to excellent restaurants with a pleasant walk, including the Graceway Gourmet supermarket, and restaurants Cocovan, Turks Kebab, Skull Rock Cantina, Conch and Coconuts; and Seven and The Deck in the Seven Stars resort across Grace Bay Road. You can stay here without taking a taxi excluding your journeys to and from the airport.
Two more items to consider are the breakfast included and the gym.
The convenience of the breakfast outweighs any opinions of the choices. They change by the day. There is usually one or two fruits (watermelon, oranges, bananas, apples), meat (bacon, ham cubes, sausage patties, bacon), egg (hard boiled or scrambled), or/and cheese cubes. Yogurt is usually available, alongside the always present milk and cereal, and a variety of breads.
The gym is very basic but guests use the weights, treadmill, elliptical, and bicycle.
We would go back.
