Hidden Gem: far exceeded our expectations

This is long, but I always read reviews so I want to make sure I provide some detailed information in my review. Took my first trip to Turks and Caicos in mid June and just got back two weeks ago. I cannot believe it took me this long to visit and this is by far my favorite destination when it comes to islands! We will be back again… and again… We booked through Costco and were looking at hotels on Grace Bay for the beach, the nearby shops, etc. For the same price of many of the hotel rooms, we found a two bedroom two bathroom suite at Villa Del Mar -directly behind Grace Bay Club resort. I’m going to be honest, at first I wasn’t thrilled because I wanted to be on the water and at what I thought would be a “nicer” property, but agreed to this location because of the solid reviews online and we had two adult women traveling so each of us appreciated having our own space. Villa Del Mar far exceeded my expectations! The suite was very basic, but it was clean, we had a large balcony that looked out over the beautifully maintained pool area, the beds and pillows were comfortable, we had a washer and dryer, the air-conditioning was very very cool, the location was perfect, and most importantly, the staff was awesome - from everybody working at the front desk, to the bartender at the tiki bar, to the housekeeping staff. Regarding the staff: we interacted with quite a few people, but most often Olivier, Wesline and Wilkin (at the tiki bar). Olivier was our guy! He was so helpful and we most often interacted with him. He was very friendly, funny, knowledgeable, had great recommendations and was always on top of getting cabs and things like that. Wesline was lovely! She was incredibly helpful as well, had some great recommendations, and shared some really cool local background regarding the islands. Now to their small, but shockingly impressive, tiki hut … Wilkin was the daily bartender and he was great! He was really friendly, funny and made some great drinks! I actually thought the drinks would be horrible here because it’s smaller so I figured they would have crap level alcohol, but I was pleasantly surprised at the decent alcohol, Prosecco and quality of drinks Wilkin made. OK, now the property… Really well maintained and just super chill. It was nice to sit out on the balcony in the morning with coffee or breakfast and just watch the families in the pools. The location was perfect! We literally just walked out the front door and straight through the beach club path onto the beach, where Villa Del Mar had its own set up run by two amazing twins! Those guys are great. Super friendly and always got us an excellent set up. Plus, we had access to any of the food and drinks in the surrounding areas because nothing is all inclusive. And we could easily walk to all the shops and many of the restaurants (because this property does not have a restaurant, which actually ended up being just fine). I just can’t say enough about the property, its operation and the location. Again, I was surprised at how much I loved it, plan to stay here again and head to spread the word! I will say I think Costco does a great job of vetting properties that they make available on their site. The only thing I didn’t love is they don’t have a fitness center. That’s important to me when I travel, but was able to work around it for this trip.
Amazing stay at Villa Del Mar

Fabulous stay at Villa Del Mar for March Break with my daughter. The 2 bedroom villa was spotless and provided all of the required necessities- including a full kitchen and laundry. Walk out to the pool was amazing- pool was warm and cleaned daily. Very short walk to the white sand beach- loungers and water available for hotel guests. Towels provided daily for the beach. Short walk to Grace Bay downtown area- highly recommend checking out Island Scoop for fabulous ice cream and Turkberry for ice cream and custom donuts. Pizzas are fantastic at Bella Luna Pizzeria-patio is awesome! Highly recommend this place for your next visit to Grace Bay!
Great for what it was.

Its much more affordable than a hotel on the beach. So,with that said, we had an amazing time. Was it on the beach? No. But the path to the beach was easy and we easily got front row umbrellas every day. Were the beach towels plush? No. Did they have pool and beach side service? No. They did have a pool bar and the closest beach bar was an easy walk. Was the continental breakfast good? No. But there was milk, coffee and pastries. Bring your own cereal or whatever you want. The rooms were nice and the AC worked great. Grace bay is expensive enough. Save a bit on the hotel.
Truly a hidden gem!

I can't speak highly enough about this hotel. The people are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfect- clean and have amenities needed. The linens are clean and fresh. The patio on our room was amazing and we enjoyed relaxing on the large patio that had a 4 seated table and room for a lounge chairs too. The pools and hot tub were perfect and the lounge chairs around the pools were perfect for an afternoon nap! I'm so thankful we found this hotel which is truly a hidden gem! The location is perfect too. We had a car to explore the island and it was nice to have lots of parking on site but also able to walk to restaurants and the beach very easily. Towels are plentiful and available at the beach too. The breakfast was just enough for us with croissants, cereal, bananas, oranges and coffee. I can't wait to go back!
Nothing but great things to say!

We spent 5 days here in late April and it exceeded our expectations. It was clean, affordable, and in a great location. The bed in our room was comfortable and freshly made everyday. The air conditioner was ice cold and there even was a ceiling fan for those of us who like air circulating at night. The pool was a refreshing temperature and was clean. The hot tub was hot. As people noted, the breakfast isn’t anything to get excited about, but there’s a grocery store and a bakery a short walk away. Although it’s not ocean front, it’s no more than 200 steps to the beach. Once you are there, Jeron and Keron will have you set up and nicely attended to with fresh towels and water.
