In 2010, we chose Barcelo Solymar in Varadero for a two-week holiday… and apparently, we forgot to leave. ?? From the very first moment we walked through the doors, it was life-changing. What started as “just a vacation” quickly turned into our home away from home — so much so that we’ve now returned over 40 times. The hotel truly has the best location and one of the most beautiful beaches in Varadero. The turquoise water and soft white sand never get old. Yes, the hotel is showing a little wear and tear over the years… but what it may lack in shine, the staff make up for tenfold with heart. And that’s what really matters. From the front desk and office staff to management, gardeners, pool crew, cleaning and maintenance teams, bell boys, buffet staff, and all the bar staff who somehow remember your favourite drink before you even order it — the service is always excellent and the welcome always warm. We have been proud to share this special place with many friends and family over the years, and it makes us so happy to see them fall in love with it too. We have also made many special friends from all over the world — friendships that started on a beach in Varadero and have lasted far beyond our holidays. Some places you visit once. Some places you count down the days to return. For us, this one feels like family — and that’s why we keep going back. This hotel is maximum 1-2stat. The rooms are dirty, the towels are dirty, the food is horrible. We had already 3 different rooms all are broken and dirty, the balcony doors are not closing so in the nights we have 16degrees in the rooms,no heating system. The water in the shower when you are lucky is warm, if not it’s cold. All inclusive hotel and you don’t get water1 bottle for 2persons on every second day…. And the guest relations just putting up her hand that she can do nothing. We wanted to leave the hotel to change for another they wanted us to pay our hole time here than go… I ask everyone to Don’t come here if the want a nice holiday!

We had a wonderful vacation at this resort. Our ocean view was spectacular! There were two pools and access to another. Shade available if needed and bars close by. Bridges with foots baths take you to the fantastic beaches and the clear water! This was the absolute highlight. The buffet was good with lots of options at all meals. You can sign up for the A La Carte dinners as well. I would suggest bringing some snacks from home as well. Entertainment in the lobby and late night in the disco. The rooms were good, the beds super comfortable. We brought our own quick dry towels and bedding for that extra feel like home comfort. Water and beer or pop provided daily in rooms. The staff was wonderful all the way around, from the lobby to the servers, the housekeeping and maintenance. Everyone smiled and greeted you and was happy to see you. We made lots of new friends and enjoyed exploring the area off the resort feeling very safe.

I have been to Barcelo Solymar many many many times. My recent visit was this year (first week of January). Resort, the staff and management are at the best as always. My recent visit was one of the best: Beaches (as usual), resort (cleanliness), bedrooms and selection of food and drinks. I noticed, the management this time was more observant to ensure the comfort of guests. I understand Cuba went through hardship during covit pandemic and due to drop in tourism. The situation most recently has been a lot improved. The credit goes to hard work of management, staff (nice people as always). I usually do not post a review, this time I could not stop myself. My next visit will definitely be before April, regardless of the current situation (a new hardship that Cuba is going through). Had a wonderful 2 weeks. Plenty of food choices, amazing staff, clean, beautiful beach and pool area. Thank you for the memories. Will definitely return( for the 3rd time) and recommend ??????
