Given the situation of the country you cannot expect a lot of resources as for food and beverage, so anyone could think they will replace that with service. Well, no, it's just as worse as the rest, except from 3 or 4 peoole that are exceptions. You will find one shift with is very good and ther other that prepare the worst coffee you will ever try, and when you tell them to make another one, the will answer rudely. Rooms, no detail attention, the most contradictory thing is that they have perfect blackout curtains for the terrace door, but the main door, made also of glass, does not have any....so you will have full morning light by 7am. Wear a mask or get no rest. As for Value, you can book some other hotels for the same average price. Mosquitoes rule the zone. I mean it, as soon as get into the room, started to kill Mosquitoes at least 20 of them. There is not a single area of the hotel that you get rid of them. You can't literally open the room door without getting a bunch of them inside. The bathroom has not seen a proper maintenance in ages...the soap dish is falling any moment soon, the ceiling, which is so low you can touch it, is covered with mud. For 4 people in the room there were only 1 body towel, no other, and we had to ask 3 times to front desk, until eventually the only kind lady in front desk brought them herself. Minibar is falling apart. The closet shelves has dead mosquitoes, a sign that it hasn't been cleaned in a while. People in general are rude. They have more food than we excepted but is not tasty. You won't find any food nearby beside breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tye only good thing about the hotel is the beach,and even so, it's uncomfortable to reach compared to other hotels. Definitely not coming back

We went in 2011 when the hotel was just built & we had a blast. There was Poor customer service experience. Horrible service. We came back in January 2026 & had a horrible experience. Poor service. Horrible food. No hot water. We're never going back to this hot3l.

In the middle of a storm, there’s always a quiet place. I stayed at the quiet place, and it was amazing.

In 2010, we chose Barcelo Solymar in Varadero for a two-week holiday… and apparently, we forgot to leave. ?? From the very first moment we walked through the doors, it was life-changing. What started as “just a vacation” quickly turned into our home away from home — so much so that we’ve now returned over 40 times. The hotel truly has the best location and one of the most beautiful beaches in Varadero. The turquoise water and soft white sand never get old. Yes, the hotel is showing a little wear and tear over the years… but what it may lack in shine, the staff make up for tenfold with heart. And that’s what really matters. From the front desk and office staff to management, gardeners, pool crew, cleaning and maintenance teams, bell boys, buffet staff, and all the bar staff who somehow remember your favourite drink before you even order it — the service is always excellent and the welcome always warm. We have been proud to share this special place with many friends and family over the years, and it makes us so happy to see them fall in love with it too. We have also made many special friends from all over the world — friendships that started on a beach in Varadero and have lasted far beyond our holidays. Some places you visit once. Some places you count down the days to return. For us, this one feels like family — and that’s why we keep going back. This hotel is maximum 1-2stat. The rooms are dirty, the towels are dirty, the food is horrible. We had already 3 different rooms all are broken and dirty, the balcony doors are not closing so in the nights we have 16degrees in the rooms,no heating system. The water in the shower when you are lucky is warm, if not it’s cold. All inclusive hotel and you don’t get water1 bottle for 2persons on every second day…. And the guest relations just putting up her hand that she can do nothing. We wanted to leave the hotel to change for another they wanted us to pay our hole time here than go… I ask everyone to Don’t come here if the want a nice holiday!
