WestJet Hero Holiday

WestJet Hero Holiday

In 2012, WestJet launched their first international community investment initiative, WestJet Hero Holiday, organized in partnership with Canadian charity Live Different.

A 10-day humanitarian trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Hero Holiday is a meaningful initiative where 50 WestJetters immerse themselves in the local community of Nuevo Renacer and build new homes for families living in extreme poverty. Since our inaugural trip in April 2012, more than 200 WestJetters have participated in four Hero Holiday trips building a total of 23 homes for 23 deserving families. They have also made some significant enhancements to the local community including purchasing land for a new club for boys and girls, equipment for a local medical clinic, underwriting the salary of a doctor to be at the clinic three days a week for a year, and refurbishing basketball courts for local youth.

Through the WestJet Hero Holiday we are able to bring our caring culture to one of the most impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic.
