Budget friendly stay. Too noisy though

funnydoug (Calgary, Canada) on Feb 05, 2025

This was our 3rd time here (2020, 2023 previous). We booked because of the wonderful beach, the low price and be able to use the other 2 Decameron resorts. Note - There is a two hour bus ride from the airport so use the toilet and get any refreshments from Oxxo before leaving. We didn't come here expecting top star accommodation but found some things better and some things not. Check-in was fast as we were the only people coming in that day. Hotel was not busy at all, many rooms were empty for the 2 weeks of our stay. We did have troubles with our first room (no hot water, bed too small as well as other small issues) and they moved us to a top floor suite with very nice beach view. (what a surprise!). We used the mini fridge, new to all the rooms. The buffet food quality has improved but the two a-la-cartes were disappointing. Drinks were not watered down with no lineups. We really liked the nice walk on the beach and be able to use the other resorts for lunch or dinner. Guayabitos Beach is truly beautiful with warm water and gentle surf. Very family friendly, even for toddlers. You will see lots of fish swimming and birds flying & diving. The locals from Tepic & Guadalarja come here on weekends with families. Very enjoyable. Overall the hotel was reasonable and enjoyed our stay. What I didn't enjoy was the road noise and it was not the hotels fault. The younger locals attitudes are changing and are now stupid loud with engines roaring while passing on the highway road behind the building and front main street has cars & motorcycles competing for the loudest music and engine exhaust. There are also many sellers driving back & forth with nonstop bullhorns, Even the employee buses would idle for the whole time they sat out front. It wasn't this noisy before and I sure noticed how quiet it became afterwards. Other buildings closer to the beach would have been quieter. Doubt I will return. There is no gym at any of the hotels. Don't know why it is even listed.

unacceptable this should not even make the 3 star list.

The noise at this resort was over the top loud and just crazy all hours of the night , the worse I ever experienced for all my travels.Very run down, rugged and out dated. We had to change rooms 3 times do to a very bad smell of sewer, the 2nd one the shower didn't work, the 3 rd the lock on the door didn't work and the air conditioning was leaking that caused water all over the floor. The last straw was we were woke up tp gunshots 3 of them and security running pass our building. This happened the night of January 27th 2025.You probably ask how we came to want to stay at this resort, well it was not a choice we booked with a travel agent that screwed up our All inclusive and didn't give us a choice this is where we were placed. The dining room staff were very nice even though none of them spoke or understood hardly any english.

Bed Bugs

Bernice S on Jan 15, 2025

We experienced bed bugs. The front desk staff was not at all surprised. The Sinwing Rep at the resort would not say anything. Terrible experience. Never going back. Booking an a la carte restaurants is an absolutely head ache. Was able to get into one the whole week. The QR code didn't work and They kept claiming it was full minutes after the required 7:00 am booking time.

I would give this a 2.5 star

My mother and I have just returned from a 6 day stay at the Decameron. We were in Rincon for a funeral, so we didn’t have a lot of time to research and book. The Decameron package was inexpensive, so we booked. There are some pro’s and con’s with this property. Firstly, my review has nothing to do with the town at all, I had some of the best street food of my life there, but it’s quiet…..real quiet. We stayed in building 4 and it was loud. The building has a road on the front and back and it’s noisy all night long. I barely slept, with earplugs. Very little hot water, and really crappy wifi, no blow dryer. The AC worked well, but it’s on the wall and blows directly onto your head, which was really uncomfortable. The curtains are not black out, bring an eye mask. There isn’t an elevator in this building, so if you have mobility issues, I would not stay here. The pool in this area is great, very quiet with a bar close by. The alcohol is not the greatest here, no baileys, no bubbles, no canned beer. Beach chairs were literally impossible to get, there are very few and saving starts before 7am. Luckily we could go to the sister Marina resort and were able to get chairs most days (by 9am). The food - this one is tough. I have food allergies (dairy) and could barely eat here. The food on the buffet is not labelled and the staff are unaware of the ingredients. When I asked about a salad dressing (in Spanish) the staff member stuck her finger in the dressing and said “tastes like mayonnaise”. If you are vegan, you will have a very hard time here, if it wasn’t for street food, I would have survived on toast. The a la carte restaurants are rarely open and you have to use an app to book,no exceptions. At the marina, you have to come down to the desk at 9am. In 6 days only one restaurant was open. The staff were very nice, Jessie in customer service helped me with a flower arrangement, the bellman were very nice, as were all of the other staff we interacted with. The beach is amazing, I walked every morning at 6:30 am and felt very safe. We will probably not return to this resort as it’s really run down and the food was poor.

Not luxurious

Jill070 (Victoria, Canada) on Dec 15, 2024

Location is nice, right on a beautiful beach. Resort is old and has few amenities: two electric outlets, infrequent hot water, weak internet signal and disappointing food. There is a town right by the resort so there is lots of contact with Mexican people and they are so lovely.
