Maybe the worst hotel I have visited in the Caribbean
Willolot (Walton-On-Thames, United Kingdom) on Dec 04, 2025
I never like giving bad reviews, but this place has earned it. Probably the worst hotel I have stayed at in the Caribbean (from maybe 15 trips). Most small hotels develop a reputation for being really friendly to the guests. You encounter the same staff every day. Some staff at Sea Breeze smile and are polite, however many of the staff are dour, ignore you until you actually ask for some service and then the service does not come with a smile. Management really need to pick up on this. The hotel is advertised as all inclusive. When we were shown to our room (2 bedroom suite), the man who showed us the room explained what we had in the room, including snacks and a mini bar. He said it would all be replenished each day. We drank the bottle of Prosecco from our fridge and expected it to be replaced; we even confirmed with him that the Prosecco would be replaced. When it was not replaced my girlfriend called reception to ask for it to be replaced and was told “we’ll get back to you”… no-one ever got back to us. I went down to the bar to ask for a bottle and was told that the Prosecco was never replenished. The same went for the crisps etc, we could buy more from the gift shop. We were paying over £780 per night, every night, why is it the first night you get Prosecco and not the others; and why were we told it would be replenished. It seems penny pinching from Sea Breeze. Also the room had a coffee maker, but after the first day the hotel had run out of coffee pods! We asked if we could have a late check out, sadly not possible but we understood. We could leave our luggage in the departure luggage store. This is a nothing more than a cupboard that is stacked full of unused furniture, rolled up carpets and other cardboard boxes; it is neither locked nor guarded. It is about 10 metres from the public road. Anyone could walk in. I was uneasy about leaving our luggage somewhere that was only marginally more secure than leaving it in the car park. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world and have always had somewhere secure to leave my luggage on check out day. I asked for somewhere better to store it and was offered to opportunity to leave it on a walkway! Then the receptionist offered that I could speak to the manager (it was offered, I did not request it). I was told the manager was in a meeting and would see me in 15 mins. After 30 minutes, no show. After an hour no show. Typical of the disdain this hotel has for their guests. There seems to be a shortage of sun loungers on the beach and by the pools. Loads of signs saying “do not reserve sun loungers”. The actual loungers are old and in poor condition, as are the beach towels. Many loungers and towels need to be replaced. The hotel has 3 restaurants and a pool cafe. From my experience, only “Cerulean” is any good. The other a la carte restaurant (Aqua Terra) is not very good and the buffet is poor too. Service in Cerulean was also good, while in Aqua Terra we were ignored again on arrival. We had numerous experiences of dishes at the buffet running out and not being replaced and the quality was little better than a transport cafe. I had a burger from the pool cafe. It was very poor quality and massively over cooked and very dry. It was advertised as coming with pickles and cheese, but neither arrived. This hotel really does not seem to care about their guests. There are many hotels on Barbados, I suggest to try another one!
