Decent Hotel But Pricey

Carrie S on Nov 16, 2021

Stayed for the weekend with my husband. Booked the king room with mountain view. The picture on line showed a patio door to a balcony. When we checked in our room had no balcony. I called front desk and luckily they had a room with a balcony available and we moved. I would of been really upset if we were stuck in a room with only a smaller window tthat opened. Just be aware the mountain view rooms face the main strip so you get a lot of the road noise. There was construction across the street when we were there but thats not the hotels fault. Breakfast was a typical subpar free breakfast but at least they had one I guess. Hotel was really close to the main shopping area. Staff were all very nice and beds were pretty comfy. Rooms were extremely warm. We had the heat off and had to open the patio door due to the hot room. We have stayed in other hotels in Banff that I think were better bang for your buck. Oh, hot tubs in the closed room my the parkade were not very hot and jets barely worked. We let the steam room "steam" up for over 15 min and still no steam. Have to say it didnt work. Coffee pot in our room didnt work either, husband had to go get coffee from breakfast buffet.

Best location in Banff

Mudfordt (Woodstock, Canada) on Nov 15, 2021

Hotel is steps from all the restaurants and shops in Banff and with underground parking included it makes this hotel ideal, grocery store and beer and wine also available a short walk away We stayed in room 346 which has a large window view of the street and mountains. The room included a fireplace, comfortable king sized bed, keurig coffee machine, fridge and separate shower and tub. The hotel offers a decent hot breakfast with your stay. The main areas of the hotel are dates and could use a refresh. Noise ( normal voices ) from the hallways and the street could be heard in our room and woke us several times. The hotel should address and insulate the rooms better. Our room was not cleaned or replenished during our 3 night stay. I’m ok with this, but it should have been explained at check in and because of this I had to request basic items like tissue be refilled. Garbage should at minimum be emptied and supplies checked on. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful with dining recommendations

Loud and crowded

Deborahjune (Toronto, Canada) on Nov 11, 2021

Felt jammed in here - almost like on a cruise ship. Very narrow hallways and loads of rooms on each floor. Almost like we were back at university in a dorm building. Once in our room though we found it to be quite comfortable and clean. Comfy bed but walls as thin as particle board. Heard all the action from the folks next door. For the price I would have expected a better experience. Great location in downtown Banff. Won't be back.

Service Changes with Covid

Odyssey01167552554 (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada) on Nov 05, 2021

Stayed at this hotel 15 years ago and it was great. Fast forward to this October and it is still a convenient, reasonably clean place to stay with kind staff. Covid, unfortunately, has changed service levels. Staying a week or longer and placing the onus on your lodgers to clean and ensure garbage is removed from the room without a rate reduction is not really on the up and up.In our case we are neat and tidy and certainly do not require daily housekeeping, but what about those who are less than hygenic? No mopping of the bathroom floor or vacuuming the carpets? I could not imagine the state of the rooms left for housekeeping at the of an extended stay. Likely the hotel will require a complete reno after these restrictions are lifted. We also found the lighting in the rooms to be painfully dim and the room air flow non existent if the heat is turned off. It was sufficiently warm in the room despite the time of year, and heat being turned off. The air vents needed a good clean out. We will likely try another property in the area next time we return.

Good hotel

Paul S (Mississauga) on Oct 18, 2021

Overall, had a decent experience here. Room was clean and comfortable. We had an interior room, so our balcony faced an interior courtyard, and as a result didn't have an air conditioner (not that one is needed in October). Could be an issue in the summer though. Parking is tricky here, as portions of the garage are cordoned off. Breakfast was good - a full breakfast was served. I would consider this place again.
