Roach Problem and Guest Services Ignored it

Happiness790499 (Austin, Texas) on Jan 03, 2026

I would skip this property, not only because you may be sleeping with roaches crawling on you, but also because the staff may ignore you when you show them proof - it’s what happened to me last week. I stayed for one night during the holidays and was given a room next to the elevators and above a public promenade at a rate of about $600 for the night. Wasn’t pleased with it, but it was late and just for one night so I chose not to mention. The next morning, I was in the glass shower and looked over to see three large cockroaches running up the wall. When i got out, I could see they were coming from behind the wooden attachment that serves as the backing behind the bed, so I quickly took a picture I packed up my things quickly and went down to discuss with the front desk, showing them the picture. The woman behind the front desk took my phone and emailed the photo to Raul, the Guest Services manager and told me that he would be in touch by the end of the day. Raul did not get in touch and my follow up emails to him have been ignored.

Missed Opportunity

Rand J (Phoenix, Arizona) on Jan 03, 2026

Beautiful hotel with an amazing view and great location… lack of room amenities and inadequate staff. Only 1-person working the desk upon check-in and check-out.

Horribly Overpriced!

MichaelG11494 on Jan 02, 2026

We booked a one bedroom suite with a pullout couch for our kids. It was just for one night since we were departing on a Disney Cruise the next day, and thank goodness it was only one night. There was no pull out couch, and they said they could only bring in one twin rollout bed. The suite had a fantastic view, but it was run down inside with a lot of wasted space. The pool deck was nice, but it was extremely crowded and there was no place to sit. They have couches available for $250 per day, but since that's very expensive for what you get, nobody rents them. The result is half the space is empty because the hotel wants to get more of your money. The pool itself is okay but oddly designed with an unused staircase going through the middle of it. We paid $950 for one night, and it was probably double the cost it should have been. I'm accustomed to the W brand being much nicer -- this is not a luxury hotel by any stretch.

Great location, underwhelming experience

Mary W on Dec 30, 2025

We had a mixed experience overall. The location is definitely a highlight — it’s directly across the street from the beach, which was very convenient. Unfortunately, there were several issues that impacted our stay. There was a service door right next to our room that slammed shut very loudly throughout the late evening and early morning hours, which made it hard to get consistent sleep. The elevators were also extremely slow and often so crowded that it was difficult to get on, especially during peak times. The beach area itself felt overcrowded compared to the number of chairs and towels available. To get a chair and towel, you really had to be down there right at 9:00am. Even once settled, beach service could be slow — on a fully booked beach day, there was only one bartender/server working. While the location is excellent, the noise, elevator delays, and limited beach capacity made the stay more frustrating than expected.

Poor Sales Service

Kathleen C (San Antonio, Texas) on Dec 29, 2025

We are planning a Board of Directors meeting in February. I called and left 3 messages over a 3 week period for the sales department needing the followng: Block of rooms for 10 to 15 people for 2 nights Meeting space rental all day to include breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day and AV equipment rental. I never received a return phone call so I assume they do not need our business which would have brought in substantial revenue for them and Marriott
